Here comes a slew of ignorance since you've done such a great job of painting these Christians (and for the majority of your ignorant readers, all christians) as crazy. I'm a Christian and I have no issue with violent games. I do however understand the need in our society for groups to speak up and try to guide many parents who shouldve needed a license to have kids. One thing I constantly find on here is your mocking of videogames and they're influence on human beings in any negative way. While correlation does not infer causation, you'd have to be a moron to not believe that what you're exposed to affects who you become.

Kudos to the group and any group trying to aid ignorant parents who still don't understand ESRB or even know what games their kids are getting ahold of.

Well, let's see, I've seen plenty of kids in the Middle East and Africa who are part of children's armies that barely have access to electricity let alone video games.

In fact, I'd argue that lack of exposure is what makes people into over-sensitive egotists. Most kids view these games as harmless entertainment, but it's the ones who've been brought up thinking games are the devil that are most likely to have social problems.

I know we've only had a few centuries to work on this problem, but you'd think people would realize that normalization is the easiest way to rob "offensive" things of their power.

Wow, just because of one part of the game they're denouncing the game. It's even more redonculous because you're allowed to skip that part of the game! Also saying all decent people shouldn't buy the game is really harsh, so because my brother owns the game he's now a bad person?

Oooor maybe, who you've become affects what you expose yourself to. Or maybe it's something else that causes both!

Way to imply the causation that's not been proven.

I don't know why psn: ijustw1n got downvoted. He is correct. As much as I hate anti-whatever groups....and in an ideal world of real, caring parents, there would be no need for them........this world isn't ideal.

You have trash parents, spawning a multitude of kids, who don't parent. Due to this, without these crazy anti-groups , what guidance would there be for these trashbag parents? If we need to endure the rantings of some crazy anti-violence group to ensure maybe half of the trashbag parents don't buy their 5 year old MW2 , I think that is better for the country then if it didn't happen.

@ ijustw1n and anyone like him

(You will understand if you read everyones else's posts)
Honestly... wtf... this is a game.

To say that people need guidelines for games is b. People need fracken common sense. Ratings is just to tell the watcher/user what to expect while watching the movie, THAT'S IT.

Your kid is playing a voilent game, you stop him and explain that this is make believe, like in the movies, and shouldn't be taken seriously and that bla bla bla... Then you use your judgement, he understands good, he doesn't YOU STOP HIM. If you're stupid enough to have a kid and not claim responsibility, you're a fracken moron and should be SNIPPED of all reproductive organs. Rich or poor. Religious or atheistic. Common sense and values rulez all!

I know I'm shitting too much personal opinion but c'mon.
I have been around violence, drugs and abuse all my life, so has half of the fracken world. At the end, it's values and common sense that saves the day!
If anything it will wake you up to the real world. Everyone should calm the frack down and take the time to EDUCATE THEIR FRACKING KIDS!
These are the same douches that let their 4-6 year old kid take the public transportation alone. MORONS!
Ignorance isn'T an excuse! Step up and spend some time with your freak of a kid, he/she deserves it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that is sick and FRACKEN tired of being reminded that a FEW KIDS DROPPED THE SOAP...
This is not a perfect lil' world, the faster you realize it the better everyone else will be!

Yah know what... 99 probs. but a b8h ain't one!
*screams* Comments!

I can't believe how many bible thumpers are still out there. yes, the world was created and is ruled by something stupid humans made up. religion is so great that it comes in many flavors and most of those flavors think theirs is the only correct flavor. you people and your sheep like minds make me sick. now please, down-vote me so god can welcome you into his divine world. Here here, everyone should denounce this "league". Truth be told they're just following the bible. I mean they hate gays and abortion too (read the link about the bookstore) but they're being good Christians by writing about how evil they are instead of smashing their windows. Yup they're just doing their civic duty by telling the citizens of Maine they're going to hell for loving the wrong person but Jesus DOES love them.

And lol at the more liberal minded Christians on the board defending the rest of the Christian community at large. Most practicing Christians I've met are anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-rock music, anti-anything that would otherwise shake their shallow faith.

As a Mainer, I highly appreciate this. The leader of the Maine Christian League is proposing for a new law that would remove funding for civil rights clubs in high schools, make it illegal for gay couples to adopt children, make civil unions illegal and remove protections based on sexual orientation from the Maine Human Rights Act. Basically, Michael Heath is evil.

Here's the link to the proposal (his phone number is listed if you would like to voice any concerns with him):

See this is what I'm talking about. The same group that the average Christian would think is a good moral compass for the people of Maine is also against treating gays like human beings. And thus we have a cycle of systematic hate towards completely unassuming groups of people in the name of religion.

It's funny how when a Christian stands up for something they are looked down upon as evident here and are called bigots, open minded to other people's beliefs however for the non-Christian it's ok to bash a Christian's belief. To me, that is hypocrisy.

Mainer,

Most of the bashing is against people who want to enforce their views/ideas/opinions/agendas on others, while the ones who say think for yourself are given praise. They aren't saying that you have to like Modern Warfare (or anything else), but rather that everyone should get to choose as they see fit.

A live-and-let-live attitude is the exact opposite of hypocrisy, because you don't tell anybody else what to do ever.

@aristokrat: Tell that to FNG and the people who voted him up.

Hipster Atheist logic works like this. All religion == evil. All religion has people. The world - Religious people == happy peace party time!

Hipster Atheist ignore all the hate for skin color, hair color, background, creed, race... They only focus on religion as their devil, or whatever you would call the devil scientifically. You can not say that religion is bad. That includes the people in it. The people who denounce stuff and call things the debil are the same people that call religious evil and say it should die. Same bunch of fruities, different branch of the tree. Everything can be twisted to fit the needs of the corrupt, but powerful, few. The "bad" lies in these people, not the followers.

Look at Atheism. What if someone powerful came along and convenced the hipster Atheist to kill a religious person because they were bad for believing in a god. It would be the same thing as the Catholic Church and the Crusades. Don't say it can't happen because, in this world, anything can happen. It just takes someone with a god complex and a league of mindless followers. Mindless followers abound in every group, from sports fans to Atheist to Lady Ga Ga fans. *shutters* If anyone on this earth should be shunned, it should be Lady Ga Ga fans...

Anyway, that is why we should all just learn to live toghter and love one and another.

On topic: These people are idiots. 1970 called, they want their demon smurfs and devil cereal back! I havn't heard anything this idiotic since some religious nutter stole my Poison tape back in 87, clamming it would make me demon possessed.

You know, you're right, getting exposed to bad content damages people.

I mean, look at what happens when someone uses a book that contains genocide, torture, murder, incest, rape and more as a moral guide.

This was the email I sent to these people in regards to the book store article... There are some seriously scary religious people in the states.

In response to: What's Inside Apple Valley Books?

... I feel that history adequately exemplifies the dangers of religious paranoia and hate mongering. Perhaps you should exercise some restraint when referring to others as "evil", when you yourselves are simply looking to cull enough public support to engage in a good old fashion witch burning.

I feel genuinely sad when I see "Christians" using their beliefs and resultant fears to manipulative or destructive ends. Please, stop trying to manipulate public opinion and quell dissension by verbally stomping on those that make you feel threatened.

Pagan holiday or not, it's a time when people are supposed to get along... Not fight like a bunch of self-righteous babies. Atheists and Christians are one in the same when it comes to bitching about their views and shoving them down each others throats. It gets a bit disheartening reading it every other week on Joystiq, especially two days before the most wonderful time of the year.

Can't we all just get along?!?

All decent people should stay the fuck out of other peoples lives and let them continue to believe whatever makes them happy, so long as they are not causing irrevocable harm to themselves or others. Sharing your religious (or anti-religious) views and beliefs is one thing, but offering them as an ultimatum or some sort of definitive truth makes you an asshole.
