I'm so tired of the "games make violence happen" B.S.! Gun's don't shoot themselves. Someone pulls the trigger. As long as humans exist, we will hurt and kill each other. People did it before the games were here. It will not ever end.

And this is why Christians are a joke to people who aren't Christians. I'll read the Bible if you read the Constitution, deal? Oh and we both have to agree to respect each one.

My guide on how to be taken seriously:

Say things like:
"I don't like it, so it needs to be banned"

"This centuries old scripture denounces this, not specifically, but if you turn the book like that and infer this you will see my point "

People like these "Christians are mentioned in the book of timothy in the bible.

They envoke the word of God for their own gain.

They don't like something they use the guise of being christians to undermine it.

1st and 2nd Timothy look it up.

I'm dismayed to see Joystiq post ANOTHER flamebait story like this, let alone, by Christ Grant. I know the Joystiq crew probably think these stories are great because it's guaranteed to get a ton of comments, but it makes your thinking users hate you a little more for such blatant attention whoring. Not only that, it also divides your user base. Why stop here though? Religion is for lightweights. Politics is where the real comments are. Why not do a story about abortion? How about stem-cell research? Guantanamo bay? Health care!

This is just so low class. I'm off to another gaming site. I'm not going to lie to you, I'll be back. But just begrudgingly.

And this is why, people, think very odd things about, Christians. Fundamentalist (Evangelicals) are painting a very bad picture of what people think of Christians, but understand that, when people poke fun at Christians, it is OK to generalize. Because the majority of Christians (the Christian Majority) in the United States, are in fact fundamentalist, who believe the earth is under 10,000 years old, that evolution doesn't exist, and that a middle aged alcoholic built an ark large enough to house 2 of every species (land dwelling) worked out the logistics of transporting, feeding, mating, and placing each species in it's specific habitat ...

Yea ...

OMG i smoked a fatty while listening to some crazy manson rock music while playing that level.. SHOOTING SPREE HERE I COME..

People like this need to get over themselves. The game is rated M which is 17+ if parents buy these games for their kids without taking in the facts the game is labled plain as day right on the front what may be in the game.. Its their fault for being stupid enough to buy them.. If they think every person in the fuckin world is a secret terrorist and we are just waiting for a trigger to set us off.. Look at real life before you look at a video game.

Ive been playing games almost all my life at least 15 years, and im not a nutcase, i dont run around wanting to shoot up a school, i dont want to take my guns to the airport and just start shooting people.

BTW get off the damn rock music trip... Rap music is far more graffic if you listen to the words then even the hardest rock music out there. Just so sick of hearing about this kinda bullshit. Boycott this stop that OMG!! Get your priests to stop touching boys and then worry about video games.

Hmmmmm, I've read that before in the Bible when the God of the universe was hanging on the cross to pay for yours and my sins. The amazing thing is that he didn't stay there and history says that over 600 people saw him resurrected from the dead. He's coming back to take the real believers with him. You better ask him to forgive you and come in your life before it's too late!

"the ready availability of drugs, violent video games, and outrageous rock music is a witch's brew which will eventually lead to tragedy here in Maine."

Hmmmm. Anyone spot the missing ingredients? Easy access to a shit-load of guns, unlike most other countries in the western world, maybe? And of course, the clincher: being utterly freaking mental.

In fact, they're the only indgredients you need for the suggested type of tragedy - the only thing drugs, games and rock are likely to lead to is a great night in.

If you read the article they wrote about "casting a spell" you'll find the "witch" is the one who claims she "cast a spell." The Christian group did not make that claim. (No Christian group would, because Christians do not believe witchcraft exists.) This goes to show that it's in fact the "witch" who is crazy. We will see if Joystiq is intellectually honest enough to correct this. (SPOILER: they aren't.) As for the Christians I say to each their own. My wife's family is a farm family and they're very sheltered. Her brothers were allowed to play the most violent games on earth from an early age, but they themselves choose to not buy or take back games with any real excessive language or sexuality. Go figure.

Ok, let me start this by saying I am NOT a Christian. I am an Agnostic. I'm sort of the ultimate fence sitter. I think Atheists are just as arrogant in their pronouncement that there is no god as the god fearing world is in it's belief there is no science. I figure, we'll find out when we snuff it so let's just be nice to each other until then.

That being said, I have to say a lot of people on here (on both sides of the argument) are pretty disgustingly ignorant. The side arguing against homosexual rights and supporting this group, well why don't you and Orson Scott Card go down to a field and burn your self some crosses because ignorant pople like that simply can't be helped.

On the other side though, those who say "the only christians I've met have been homophobes" etc. etc. Or saying that this is indicitive of the Christian church as a whole are frankly wrong. The Anglican church and the Unitarian church have active homosexual and lesbian ministers all the way up to the Bishopry. There are male and female ministers (NOT priests to be a priest you have to be catholic.) And yes, this is causing a schisim right now in the Anglican church but you'll find that this is mainly in third world countries where homophobia is so rampant they have death penalties or in communities with high evangelical populations and many of the members were boarderline to begin with.

To paint the brush that Christianity is uniformaly hateful is ignorant at best and dangerous at it's most extreem. You are making your selves in to biggoted idiots and you are nullifying your argument. It's sort of like the Hitler equation. As soon as you bring Hitler in to an argument it automaticaly nullifies any legitimacy you have. And this is what it's coming across like.

Christianity is a diverse tapistry of beliefs, myths, and faith structures. The central tennant of the faith is Jesus. He was a peaceful man and a proponant of love. Over the years that's become corrupted, Evangelicals, Mormons, Catholics, Anglicans, and various other sects have interpreted this man's message in to many things some still espousing universal love and some caught in the dark ages and even worse, some, like many Evangelicals (thanks again America for making that sect ever so popular) aren't far from the hatred and violence espoused by groups like Al Queda. But they are all different. When you look at a Christian don't look at them like a monolithic beast. Look at them like a human being. Base your judgement on that person's actions and speak of that person.

Budah, Mohammed, Jesus, and the many other pantheons out there give people who are in situations where they are poor and need comfort succor and safety. To take that away blithely is to be a simple barbaric beast. In this time of joy and living let's try and show respect instead of hatred.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Peace.

Actually I agree, the single player does suck. The monster closet spawning is out of control and the difficulty is very unbalanced. Also the story, frankly, is a joke. I mean really, invade America? The cameras in the air port see this wanted fugative a RUSSIAN leading this attack and the polit beaurau think "jeeze he's gunning down civies but there's a Yanky Pig Dog with him so let's invade!" The multiplayer is fun but the proportion of jerkwads to nice people is a little out of wack so it's not always fun to play. I just chalk it up to one that I don't enjoy and more power to those who do.

It should be said that these... eccentric people do not represent Christianity as a whole. There are many decent people who worship Christ as their savior that love video games both as an art form and entertainment. Don't judge us based on a few bad apples; just think how annoying it is when groups like this one take things related to video games out of context and make up a chain of causality.

Please understand these people are nutjobs. Sane Christians know there is no such thing as witches, and that there are such things as Democrats. And that said Democrats eat real food, and not human blood.

Right so. There is only one thing for it. Lets make a list of all the films, all the books and all TV programs and media from the last century with all the offensive material and try and stop the world population from looking at. If it is true that you can be told what to read and see then it follows you can be told what you can say and think. Protect your constitutional rights because no one will do it for you.

I'm a Christian, but i don't support actions like that. If someone is a Christian that doesn't mean that he represents all Christians. I think games are the last things to blame for brutality. Not games leads to tragedies but people. How many people is buying violent games? And how many of them are running on the streets with machine guns, shotguns, grenade launchers etc? If 0.0000001% of gamers are killers is that a reason to ban violent games? Probably 0.0000001% which use WC are criminals. So should we ban WC?
