Is there a game series out there that doesn't have a comic now? I suppose to the people that like this stuff that its a good thing though...Obviously =p

I'd complain further about game stuff being put into other media fields, but the Halo novels really are good to read.

"Penned by Orson Scott"- So, no homosexual romances in this then.

Homosexuality may be a no-go, but given the weird vibe between Valentine and Ender I'd say incest is fair game.

Let's hope this fares better than the mw2 comic...which was awful save for the artwork.

I know that Ender's Game is this wonderful sci-fi classic that I really do need to read, but if Shadow Complex and the other stories in its series are any indication, Orson Scott Card is out of his damn mind. I'd prefer to avoid comics with overt polarizing political grandstanding, thanks. Thank goodness they left that out of the game. The plot was ridiculous enough as it is, adding Card's religion and politics to it would have made it outright laughable.

Contrary to popular belief, he didn't write a single thing for Shadow Complex. It was really a strange way to make a story. Basically, Chair created the basic concept of average guy versus super high tech people from watching GI Joe. Then they called Card (who had written Advent Rising with the same company before, without any homophobia or political posturing) and asked what he thought, and Card created the idea of an American Civil War. Card thought it was so cool, he wrote the book Empire around it, then Chair finished Shadow Complex, and now Card is writing a sequel to empire. The guy who actually wrote the game was named Peter David

Even if it isn't his idea, he latched onto it, ostensibly legitimizing the ridiculous story. Empire was written well before Shadow Complex. I know he didn't write the game, but many of the concepts of the story are so ludicrous that I just can't take it seriously.

I love how all of Bioware's games are becoming multimedia franchises similar to .hack. It makes the worlds they are set in so much more interesting and appealing.

But now, new Chinese wedding, the young man had put western-style debut as a white wedding dress in front of the important guests.

Have you read the novel? I think, if my memory serves, there were typos even before the first chapter, and it got worse from there. Not a good story. But I have quite an imagination, so I read it. I felt I owed it to BioWare, seeing as they played a reat part in the creation of the world inside my head, and the downfall of any possibility of a respectable career as I played Baldur's Gate when I should have been doing coursework.

(Afterthought) And the font is huge, so what should have been a few sheets of A4 is the size of a dictionary.

Indeed. Some of the things he's said make him sound like a complete loon. I'm very hesitant to buy this since he's involved. I dislike the idea of giving him money or sales figures.

Exactly how much does an author need to like gayness for you to buy his work?

@RankHypocrisy

Speaking for myself, they don't have to support it, they just don't have to actively fight against it. Orson Scott Card actively campaigns to block civil rights from gay people.

I really couldn't care about someone's personal beliefs, however Orson Scott Card puts a large amount of money into an anti-gay rights group that is currently under criminal investigation in several states for trying to subvert campaign finance laws.
This is what your money buys. Buyer beware.

Oh no, if I buy a comic book I'll be funding terrorism!

Wait, I'll be funding what?

A guy that fights gay marriage?

...yeah, not gonna lose any sleep, thanks for the warning.

To be honest, very quickly it became more of a case of Alistair Disapproves. God, nothing I did made him bloody happy, it was all -20's here and there, and he's so hard to get up anyway (teehee) talking to him at camp unlike Morrigan. Blargh. No trouble getting Morrigan to 100 but I ended with Alistair below 0.

I'm concerned about Morrigans appearance in this. I'd rather she not be in it because of the chance of the writer taking her in a direction i dont care for, as well as I just dont think any main party members should be involved

That art is pretty bad. Only the guy in the foreground manages to avoid looking completely ridiculous. A little more attention to perspective and anatomy and it'd be good, though. I like that when you see the shadow, you realize that it's drawn from the dragon's perspective.

Oh Orson Scott Card. You were so good, and then 9-11 blew up your brain. (Seriously, that's right around when he decided that blogging would be a great idea, maybe his writing tanked a bit before that).

I actually read both of the novels, and... they weren't bad. Say a 3.5-4 out of 5 stars with the second "The Calling" being a lot more enjoyable.

The first novel I almost put down completely like 5x times, then a little over halfway through it took some twists that made me appreciate and enjoy it much more, there's some memorable and enjoyable characters and some hardcore scenes, but the lead up and tie into the game was really enjoyable. Overall much much better than the young adult level Halo, and Warcraft titles.

I'm all for media around the bigger and deeper game titles like Elder Scrolls, DA, Mass Effect, etc. so long as they're good.

the WoW books were god awful, but i still like the Halo ones a lot more than the Dragon Age ones, at least the first, havent finished the second. Maybe it's just a preference for sci fi though.

You know this is a tough call. I liked Ender's Game (the only Card I've read) and I'm all for people having freedom to believe what they want but here's the thing. Card is a religious zealot who is actively trying to hurt homosexual people via funding hate groups. I just can't get behind that kind of person. I mean everyone is entitled to their own beliefs but it's hard to reconcile the message of peace and love from Ender's Game with the hate that spews out of his mouth and I don't understand how a company like Bioware which actively includes homosexuality in their works would let them selves get involved with a person like that. It's very sad.

2 things, that art is so fuckin inappropriate for a dragon age comic it makes my stomach turn just looking at that shot.

Secondly,on the topic of shadow complex, picked that up yesterday as i been meaning to but i just don't really use my 360 to much.Well talk about over rated games, thats games story is ridiculously stupid, the ai is a joke, the screen parameters are broken for the most part and the dialogue...oh god the dialogue.

Its not uncommon for me to "not get" some choices for GOTY and various other awards, but that game getting Downloadable GOTY because it reminds some people of older "good" games is BS.

I'm not a fan of the new style of comic/cartoon art. I remember way back in the 90s when comic artwork looked good.
