There are no words. This trailer for Mass Effect 2 -- which just happens to be the expanded edition of the trailer teased during IGN's pre-VGA show -- is just completely radical. This particular video is more story-driven than the previous pieces of marketing for the game, giving a bit of backstory into the team Shepard has assembled, then showing that team going to war against a gigantic, sinister spacecraft.
We like to think of ourselves as fans of the holiday season, but we'd be more than happy to skip the next couple of weeks, just so we could be that much closer to Mass Effect 2's January 26 release date.

Oh c'mon dude what the fuck. Thanks for ruining this shit. I thought this was supposed to be a serious sci-fi drama, but now you're telling me it's going to be a comedy? Faaaaaaaaaaack. Well I guess it's better this way, instead of buying it and only finding out later that Shepard is a galactic connoisseur of cheap gags like fake vomit and whoopee cushions.

I remember not being able to figure out the swamp part in Space Quest II for WEEKS. Back in those days, we didn't have Gamefaqs or even the bloody Internet to help us. Don't even get me started on King's Quest IV...

"Sunny" was just a word to describe "Tu'chunga" (or however it's spelled).

Tuchanka is the Krogan Homeworld. Sunny is an ironic adjective because the place is a hellhole.

If they make the combat as fun as it looks there and keep the RP bits (maybe trim the dialogue a bit), I will be a happy bunny.

Man this game keeps looking better and better. I love it. But not to start a flame war but this was the only reason I ended up getting a 360, was just to play the first one and I'm happy I did. I like to play multiplatform games on the PS3 but I have a feeling that on Jan 26 I'm going have to dust off my 360. I cant wait.

Again, is it possible to see this game on PS3?

Yeah I would like to see it for the PS3 so my buddies without 360's can play it. It wouldn't be any good from me because of the 20 plus hours I put into the first one on the 360 and I would like to see my story continue from where I left off. But it will be cool to share the entertainment, everyone should have a chance to play this game.

Heh, my PC can barely run Doom 3 on the lowest settings, so no luck there. I hope it ends up on the PS3 too eventually.

For anyone who's played Mass Effect and Dragonage, I think we can all agree that Mass Effect 2, based on its lineage, is going to be worthy of GoTY for 2010.
Mass Effect itself was amazing - Dragonage blew me away with it's epic storytelling.
I'm expecting Mass Effect 2 to be to RPG genre what Bayonetta is to the action genre.
(translation: Very, VERY high hopes and expectations)

@Drew
Next time could you choose a song from a better album? Thanks.
I'm not usually one to play RPG's but from what I've seen Mass Effect was one of the few that had decent animations and voice acting. For me, games like Fallout 3 are impossible to get into with their soulless voice acting and rigid, awful animations. But Bioware knows how to bring production value into the RPG genre, and I think that's why they stand out over any other RPG developer. I doubt anyone else is going to come close to Mass Effect 2 next year, at least in that genre.

Other than the flipping around and diving over shit, I've had some battles pretty similar to that in ME. So. Fucking. Epic.

Yep, in Mass Effect it is awesome getting a team mate to lift a charging Krogan Battlemaster in the air, another member blasting them with their shotgun, etc... Battles like that do happen.
