We know we throw the term around quite a bit, but seriously, folks -- "Christmas miracle" is the only way we can explain what's happened to the prices on over 800 games on the Steam storefront. It's like a "Greatest Hits" special of Steam's best sales throughout the year: There are sizable discounts on games from every genre, encheapened bundles of games from a dozen different publishers (including Square Enix and Telltale), and even five super-discounted daily offers (today it's Mirror's Edge, GTA IV and more)!
You simply must go check this sale out if your bank account hasn't been completely obliterated by the holiday shopping rush. Considering the wide, wide scope of the discounts offered, we'd be worried that this was a "Going Out of Business" sale -- a circumstance made entirely unlikely by the amount of monies we've spent on these nefarious Steam sales this year.

I bought Torchlight earlier for $10 and just last night I bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear sky AND the original and audio surf for like 10 bucks. I'm tempted to get Mirrors Edge for $5.00 even though I have it for the 360. I'd like to see how it plays with a K+M and the pysX turned on.

"If you don't have a Physx enabled video card, your game may run at 40fps for instance and right when you shatter glass in Physx, your frame rate will plummet to 5fps, I saw it with my own two eyes."
Well yeah, it's kind of the point to only turn PhysX on with a card that is supposed to run it.

Well, congrats Steam. You've managed to wrestle out $430 from my cheap ass hands in three months. Those damn bundles are as irresistible as $2.50 games. Even if making some of them work is a pain in the ass.

I hate playing games on PC, but I'm gonna buy Crayon Physics for $10. Been interested in it for a while and I just played the demo last night, it's pretty awesome.

Indie games and Stalker for under $2?
It's financially wise to buy them all even if I don't play a few

Well, there goes my promise of no longer buying games this year. I picked up Splinter Cell (first one, Chaos Theory and Double Agent), Prince of Persia ( 2008, Sands of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones), Indigo Prophecy and Assassin's Creed. And that's just the first day. i'll probably run out of money or HDD space before they run out of deals.

Just picked up Indigo Prophecy, Rome - Total War gold, and STALKER for under $8. Might get more as I see more of the super deals.

I think Trine shall be mine at $8. I was going to hold out to see if it hit XBLA, but....$8 seems fair.

I just bought Fallout 3 for my brother yesterday on Steam at $50 (now at $38). I should've known better!
Today I bought:
- Ghostbusters - $6.79
- Beyond Good and Evil - $4.99
- Stalker chernobyl whatever - $1.99
- Outrun 2006 - $2.49
- Samorost 2 - $2.49
- Time Gentlemen, Please! - $2.49
- Indigo Prophecy - $3.39
Total = $24.63
That's ridiculous! I'm hoping to see Borderlands as a daily special during this sale to go even cheaper.

Looking at the price of the Valve pack makes me hate 2004 Chris!

Nah. Prices will always drop and there will always be sales. You can wait years for a game to have a $1.99 sale or you can buy it for $40 and enjoy it for years. I'd rather enjoy it.

Bought Borderlands, Prey, and the Jedi Knights pack. I'm really tempted to buy batman again. I already have the collectors edition on the 360 but playing it at 1080p with physx is really tempting.
If you missed the last 2 mirrors edge for $5 sales, jump on this one. It's more than worth it.

I was just looking at the steam sale page and I noticed something interesting. Despite nearly everything else being ridiculously cheap, MW2 is still the 7th highest selling game on steam (currently) despite being the only game with the ridiculous price of $60. That seems pretty impressive.

Quick question; should I get Mirror's edge on PC for £3.24, or on 360 for £4.98?
I'm confident my PC can run it fine so that's not an issue, but I have no gamepad for my PC (I have wireless 360 ones)

It depends on if you're comfortable with a mouse and keyboard. Personally, I like the way it controls a lot better with a mouse. The movement is much more fluid and precise, and I think that fits the game better. There's also that wireless usb reciever for the 360 controller. I have it and use it for my platformers and emulators. Works great, and you can find it for $20 easy.

This is freaking ridiculous. I'm scrolling through the sales now and I just can't believe what I'm seeing. Every game Eidos has ever made (including Arkham Asylum) for $50. The list of games is so long that I don't want to type it up. Clicking on the "Games under $10" link just brings hilarity. A few examples: GTA IV, the entire Star Wars Jedi Knight collection, Assassins Creed, and Farcry 2.

Some of these deals are truly good deals, but a lot of the packages are outdated games. They bundle them up with something enticing and make you feel like you are getting a lot for the money, however most of these games probably wouldn't even be selling if they were not in with a popular game to bundle with.
Some of the 2-5 dollar prices are what the games should actually be selling for, maybe more people would buy them and they wouldnt have to try and lump them with something decent to sell a copy.
