I have a strong feeling that there won't be a "Left 4 Dead 4".

I'm not saying that there won't be a 4th installment in the series, I just doubt that it will be called Left 4 Dead 4.

To be honest, I disagree.

I feel like me, the "single player" is being somewhat left out, and being forced to play with other people. Not that there isn't anything wrong with that, I just like having the option of playing single player and not multiplayer.

There is this thing called "learning from mistakes", just because XI was bad doesn't mean XIV will be.

Also from what I've heard of XIII it sounds like a complete mess. Was so hoping I'd be proven wrong about it.

Would be nice if the "main" FF RPGs could come to PC, if they ported The Last Remnant to the PC and greatly improved it over the 360 version, why not the other games? ; )

If useless items, waiting your turn to attack, and world maps that lead you to dead ends is the 'fun' that's been 'left out', then yes.

There is no longer fun in FFXIII.

@ Wiizer

Please give me an example of a useless item in a previous FF game. With that being said I'd much rather have an insane amount of items leading to choice than a set amount only used for plot points.

If you don't want to wait to attack then I suggest you save up for Versus. Not every RPG has to be an action RPG. Explain to me how waiting to attack is a negative.

That dead end on the world map is an ocean/mountain. It's called geography 101. Reducing dead ends is one thing, eliminating any choice and evidently making each section the equivalent of a hallway is lazy.

I'm buying FF13, I've had it preordered for a long time but I'm not going to ignore all the information I've received thus far describing the negatives.

@Vertigo 2nd Paragraph

I agree and disagree.

There are games that have mastered the "wait to attack" function, but it is unnecessary most of the time. Could you imagine an Army of Darkness "wait to attack" rpg? I can't. Then again, I can't imagine Army of Darkness evolving into a game...

Oh, Vertigo. Have you ever wondered why you used high potions when you had Cura for magic? What item would you use to replenish MP when you have none to replenish? And why do you think you deserve a Hero Elixir drink?

To make the game easier for you? Oh no, this is not what FFXIII is about.

See Awetoebawt's point about turn-based attacks.

"eliminating any choice and evidently making each section the equivalent of a hallway is lazy."

Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about. This game is not doing that. The idea that you thought you could go anywhere on the World Map without following the story is ridiculous. Also, FFX has the same set-up if you REALLY want a true comparison to a game you haven't even played yet...

Don't believe all the shit flying around on the net. It's gonna ruin the experience for you.

That high potion was great for when I had used up all my MP or when I needed some quick cash to purchase new equipment.

Speaking of easier you do realize XIII heals you completlely after each battle and allows you to reload any battle during or after death?

When did I ever mention the ability to go anywhere? Of course that would reduce the story to barebones. I'm aware XIII's sections are comparable to X, maybe that's why I have a problem since I did not like the VERY linear approach to X.

Have you played the game yet? I've admitted I haven't yet and I'm keeping an open mind. You evidently didn't start playing FF till X.

Wait, so you ACTUALLY ran out of MP? Holy shit, good job! I've never met somebody who's done that before. Well, besides magic whores. Anyways, I have to once again agree with Wiizer on this one. MP isn't that hard to restore, and it's always more reliable than Potions, which can be stolen by those assholes in Sector 06 of FFVII.

Also, Wiizer is right again with the World Map. All FF games seem to have that effect where it's both linear and non linear at the same time. It's kind of like Blinko, you start off the same, you go a different path, you might get a different ending, but at least you get an ending.

Oh, dude, I've played the game. You are totally not getting the point of what I'm saying.

You don't NEED high potions anymore! Let them go! You have no MP in this one, so no worries, just heal with magic! You can still sell stuff, though. Don't worry. But, how much did you ever get for selling high potions, dude? Like 50 gil, what equipment do you think you could buy for that in any FF game? lol

You'll understand why you're fully healed after each battle once you start playing. You will still die. Also, let me clear up a rumor for you that I'm sure you've heard since it seems you've been reading in all the wrong places. You CAN escape battles and you CAN avoid them. You press start and it re-spawns you right before you enter battle on the field.

Anyway, if you're keeping an open mind, read this:
http://www.ff-xiii.net/boards/showthread.php?t=9905&page=3

and this:
http://www.gametrailers.com/users/Tsukinikawatte/gamepad/index.php?action=blog

Seriously, I'm just trying to clear up some misconceptions for you. A lot of people have read something about FFXIII and all the sudden they think it's the Gospel.

Don't rob yourself of a really good, next gen 40 hour RPG game that you may or may not have a couple of negligible likes/dislikes about.

Whether you met someone that ran out of mp or not is irrelevant. Your complaint is not valid at all. The point of items is not only to accomplish something but create a sense of choice. Sure I could do the strategy you suggest OR I could do my own thing.

World Map? Oh you're referring to that thing that went bye bye after IX. Sorry but opening up a map and selecting a dot in X or XII is not the equivalent of having an actual map your player can move across. Plus before X you could visit various locations unrelated to the main story well before the completion of the game. XII did a very excellent job of attempting to go back to the freedom from the past and hopefully XIII does something similar but so far I've read nothing that makes me think so.

You do realize someone can find fault with a particular portion of a game and still enjoy the hell out of it?

You act as if any fault is found in FFXIII it's your civic duty to not only counter it but assume the person making the points must surely not enjoy a FF game.

What Wiizer & I are trying to say is that you shouldn't base your thoughts on what some stupid article says about a game. Who cares if IGN or Gamespot gives a game a bad score? A lot of people actually liked GH:VH (I didn't). I think FFXIII will be good if I think it's good, not what some stupid ass website or magazine thinks.

The error you make is in assuming I received information from either of those sites. I understand BS will reign supreme until I have my copy in my PS3 and I'm playing it. Unfortunately all I have to go on right now is the media and the opinions several sites/people I trust. When multiple sources give the same information concerning key points to a game it's not delusional or ignorant to make a valid assumption based on the information.

TY to both of you for giving a fun conversation, no harm done and I'm glad there are others as passionate about FF as I am on here.

But again, "don't rob yourself of a really good, next gen 40 hour RPG game that you may or may not have a couple of negligible likes/dislikes about."

That's all I'm sayin'. Most people that posted up the negative stuff you've read didn't even give you that much. Here I am busting my ass to show you the side that I'm sure you've been waiting for: the release of a really good sequel in an RPG.

And here's the funny thing: they didn't even change that much.

Not for gameplay really, but from a creative standpoint, it's being stagnant. Not changing things up- that's a negative in some people's eyes. And for a series as long running as FF, that goes doubly so.
