$30 is still too much for a rail shooter, which is arguably the shallowest genre next to casual games. $10-$20 is the sweet spot for something like this.

I'm playing this game now. It's a fun rail shooter, but a horrible RE game, RE are not meant to be on rails or with unlimited ammo like RE4 and RE5.

At this point, I have very little hope for RE6 to bring back what the series used to be, the series it's out of control after Capcom decided to go for the masses and screw the classics fan base.

RE4 and 5 had limited ammo and it took up inventory space.

I agree with you, and even though I enjoyed Resident Evil 4 I didn't find it scary at all.

Also, there is indeed ammo in RE4 that does take up inventory space, along with guns and whatever other crap you find.

The old resident evil games weren't "scary" either, not in the way that Condemned 1 is scary or Dead Space is scary at least. They relied on cheap scares like the dog through the window thing, while giving you horrible tank controls to amplify the scare factor...instead of making the game actually scary like Silent Hill.

I've been replaying 4 on the Wii recently, and even though I really don't like the pointer controls, it's still the best game in the series. Yeah, it's just an action game, but that's where RE excels at now. Many other people do horror much better now than RE ever did or could have done, so there's no point in trying to go back to the old games.

@tmac

You really thought Dead Space was scary? Maybe I'm not far enough in the game (Ch.4, I think), but it hasn't scared me yet..
And RE4 the best in the series? RE2 says hello..
Ah, opinions..

Dead Space doesn't scare, it startles.

But I agree with tmac that Resident Evil was never really scary, and that 4 is the best in the series.

When I said unlimited ammo for RE4 & 5, I was trying to say that there's ammo everywhere, if you kill the enemies they drop ammo, if you break box there ammo, so basically you never ran out of ammo on those games (at least I didn't). The problem is that they butchered the series by removing puzzles, real zombies and that awesome atmosphere the game had.

Sorry but the first time I saw a hunter in RE1 I shat myself and then he chopped my head off.
I admit I was like 7-8 at the time but still that is something I will never forget lol.

You play the game, get used to slow moving zombies, the occasional dog but then WHAM, some big, fast monster that seems immune to the pistol lol.
It was genius.

But yeah I agree, RE is no longer a survival horror game. It's just an action game with terrible controls now.

@ den-69

Crappy controls? As opposed to the AMAZING controls of the original games? I'll take the controls of RE4 and RE5 over the "tank controls" of the previous games any day.

@ Reaver Zero

Lol the controls are still tank controls - that's why they are crappy.
They were perfectly acceptable for the original games because they weren't pretending to be an action game.

I love the Wii and Resident Evil but I just for some reason can't get into rail shooters anymore. I hate not having control and having the game turn me towards the enemy. Also just seeing the cursor instead of my arm and gun in my hand while shooting takes me right out of the game.

it is good to gamer to wake up. I been disappointed with this all rail shooters approach to games lately, dead space and RES EVIL it sucks for not having control of your character.

Amazon? They'll raise the price back to MSRP as soon as supplies dwindle.

I think I've controlled enough characters in video games with all sorts of guns that I'm finding rail shooters to be quite enjoyable again.
I'm liking the whole cinematic thing~ Then again, I was one of those people who actually paid for tickets to get on those theater-seat moving, shaking, wind blowing movie-thingy majiggies.

...I'd still pay to get on one of those again.
