Agreed, 3 games and a PS3 for only $300?

It's the older fat PS3 I think, because didn't the Slim launch with a 120GB drive, not a 160GB drive? Either way, at that price it's a steal.

Amazon.ca had Fable 2, GeOW2 GOTY Ed, Halo Wars and Halo 3 for $10 each for a while the other day, I picked up all 4 even though I don't have an X360.

And my advice to you fellow Canadians as a former Best Buy/FutureShop (same company/policies/stuff now) employee...

Never buy the Product Service Plan. If you do want an extended warranty get it DIRECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

Best Buy/FutureShop will just ship it out to the lowest fucking bidder who offered to do the job.

Also, if you're buying a two-year extended warranty from Best Buy and the manufacturer already has a one year warranty on the product, guess what?

You're getting two years of warranty, not three years. Best buy won't start the 'extended warranty' after the manufacturer's warranty. They're going to start it right when you purchase it. So, don't buy it, you're wasting your money, especially if your product already has one year of warranty.

Just get the extended warranty from the manufacturer like he says.

@Akio Morita ... the TRUE 'Father of PlayStation':

I am aware the holiday existed prior to stores. The "red" explanation is one we have in the retail management world, where I spent five years of my life as a GM at EB Games.

Boxing day sales have sucked for the past couple of years. The best deals are before and after boxing day ironically enough.

I'm guessing Black Friday will eventually take over there.

It seems odd to have Boxing Day sales after Christmas. By then most people have already spent all their money on gifts. Perhaps that is why the deals weren't as good as previous years, not enough sales with the economy and more people buying things on sale earlier in the year.

Black Friday has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, it just so happens that they chose that day as the day.

My point was that I believe the idea of Black Friday (having the sales around the last week before December starts) will start to catch on more in Canada since having the sales after the biggest gift giving day isn't very good business sense.

"Canadian retailers try their own Black Friday"
http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2009/11/27/consumer-black-friday.html

Also, I spent 3 months in Canada at the end of 2007, so yeah, I know Thanksgiving is the first part of October. I always found that odd, but I guess that's just because I was raised in a different country.

To me it only seemed natural to have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all about a good month apart from the next one. It just seems... more organized or well spaced. Like calendar zen or something of that sort.

I still think every month should have at least one major holiday that is no less than one month before or after another major holiday. Every month we'd have good food, presents, candy, fireworks, or just something special to look forward to.

"I still think every month should have at least one major holiday that is no less than one month before or after another major holiday."

Amongst the emptier individuals of consumer society, the constant need for spectacle aches at the base of their soul; without question, spectacle, no matter how empty, is what life is made of. For these poor men (a wonderful idea once you consider the vast amounts of capital accumulated in comparison to darker parts of the world) even something as dreary as the administration of days, weeks, and months must be incorporated into some sort of communal spendathon; for this, my friends, is obviously the only way to keep in touch of the various days, weeks, and months of the year.

The spectacle is glorious, the spectacle is true; the spectacle was made for me, and certainly for you. Representation has no correlation to meaning, just as long as something is happening, just as long as months can be ‘organized’ (with a Z) in conjunction with ‘holidays’ so one can celebrate ‘something’ then it will all be okay. Everything will be okay if we can have ‘holidays’ to celebrate ‘something’; meaning comes later: Thus Spoke Sonicspike41.

The point of it is to get people to spend all their gift cards and gift cash they got for Christmas. America does it too we just don't have a name for it yet. I have like $135 in wal mart cards to go through tomorrow.

Like I wrote in the article. Boxing Day refers to retailers trying to fight their way out of the "red," IE losses and break even before the year is up and new inventory comes in for 2010.

That is also why they call it Black Friday. Retailers trying to get out of the red and into the black.

Although...

My mom tells a story when I was a kid I said, "Boxing day was the day Grampy took all the beer bottles in for money."

You're from Canada and you had to Wiki Boxing Day? That seems really improbable, even Hutterites are out to score deals the day after Christmas and they aren't exposed to all the media hype.

Merry Christmas from Calgary.

No. Not improbable: impossible.

Unless you've never listened to the radio, read a flyer, visited a mall in december, watched Canadian television, or had friends who knew about it.

For your entire life.

I just braved a trip to West Edmonton Mall, and from what I saw It's fairly obvious all of Canada knows about Boxing day.
