Aside from efforts like The Conduit and Call of Duty: World at War, Nintendo's Wii hasn't exactly enjoyed a glut of capable FPS titles. According to a recent interview with games™ (via NowGamer), Zelda director Eiji Aonuma recognizes this -- and sees great potential for fixing that problem in Link's Crossbow Training, the pack-in minigame included with the Wii Zapper. "To tell you the truth, I actually wanted to create Link's Crossbow Training 2 ... I thought that we should do something more and better in the field of the first-person shooter." Wait, haven't we heard this before?
Unfortunately for Aonuma, the execs above him at Nintendo didn't think much of the idea, nixing it in favor of a completely new entry in the Zelda series. "I was thinking that maybe we could intensify the multiplayer mode ... [but] a lot of people inside Nintendo insisted that I should work on a new Legend of Zelda title." We're sorry about that, Mr. Aonuma! And to the Nintendo executives who killed a sequel to Link's Crossbow Training, we'd like to personally thank you.

Wind Waker certainly wasn't the weakest Zelda of late. Phantom Hourglass probably takes that crown, but it is all opinion so people may disagree. I'd say Wind Waker was an amazing game, but then I never played Zelda on the Wii (despite having Majoras Mask cover for my N64) so it was my first Zelda ever and didn't have the N64 games to compare to.

Wind Waker was definitely not "the weakest Zelda game." It was a fantastic game from beginning to end. The cell-shaded design of the game was superb and was one of the best games on the Gamecube.

Whoever says Wind Waker is the weakest Zelda of late hasn't played Spirit Tracks (what an awful, awful game).
If you're talking console only, then I'm still not sure. I've only played an hour or so of Twilight Princess so far, but what I've played has left me very unimpressed and even bored.

I agree with Sanders, Twilight Princess does get much better once you start the Forest Temple. I hated the beginning of the game, especially the fishing part.

I liked OOT, but when you look back and take the whole 3rd dimension out of the picture, all you're left with is a LTTP clone, which in turn is a LoZ clone.
That there's anything wrong with that. It's just that it's been too much of the same thing for a while. Some of us have been playing the series since you needed 2 controllers to save your game.

Twilight Princess was horrible, imo. And I wanted to like it sooo badly. OOT and MM are some of my alltime favorite games, but I just COULDN'T get into TP.

I've been playing the series since the first game.
OoT was a amazing game in simply every aspect. I didn't think it felt like aLttP or the first Zelda, it felt like a whole new experience, I'm not just talking about the 3D. There was many new things you could do in that game, it had a better and more engaging story than the previous Zelda games before, many things were new.
I liked Majora's Mask more than OoT, but OoT was a fantastic game.

Well excuse me for not enjoying sailing all over the ocean looking for tri-force pieces. Btw Phantom Hour Glass was an awesome game but some of the puzzles were more unconventional then I expected.

Shut-up, exploring the ocean and finding islands is awesome. Also, Twilight Princess's "waggle to beat boss" was unforgivable.

All Im saying is that Metroid Prime is a great FPS, not just on the Wii but on any console really. The Condiut is meh and I haven't played COD4 Reflex yet. Personally I hate dual analogue FPS games I love the keyboard and mouse setup with PC FPS's. The Wii controls IMO are right behind the PC in awesome FPS controls, the problem i'm seeing is no ones willing to stretch any boundaries when it comes to the Wii and FPS's

I just wanna say that I STILL play Link's Crossbow Training...beating eachother's scores in that game is actually pretty tough and super fun. I wish there WAS a sequel.

I'd like to see a sequel with an emphasis on multiplayer and a general expansion of what the original was. The levels where you were walking around RE4-style shooting enemies kicked ass.
Although I want a 'real' Zelda sequel more.

i would like to see a RE4 mercenaries-style game, but with a deathmatch option, and splitscreen, since there are no good splitscreen FPSes on the wii, aside from metroid prime 2

because screensplit FPS are horrible ....... well arguably almost anything splitscreen is horrible I'd go as far as saying I hate splitscreen more than rail shooters but trying to convince console dwellers of that is nhy impossible
My friends always tried to get me to play golden eye ...... four player ....... split screen ..... and couldn't understand why I would rather play 32 player full screen GL Quake teamfortress

You know, I enjoyed this game a whole lot when I got it...granted, I probably have a better view since I bought it for the $2.99 it was worth at Gamestop. I personally don't care for Nintendo's shotgun style shell, I prefer the Nyko pistol style. but yeah, I had a good amount of fun with Link's Crossbow Training, it was fun figuring out how to go about beating each level, and I'd love to see a more fleshed out version, personally. I'd buy it for $30, I think, if it ever happened.

Nintendo wanted a new core Zelda instead of a mediocre mini-game with Zelda in it? +1 for Nintendo!
