If more Borderlands DLC is just what the doctor ordered – not Doctor Ned, of course, star of the shooter slash RPG's first DLC outing – then look no further than this week's "Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot."
Developer Gearbox is giving Joystiq readers an exclusive look at the above gameplay trailer, showing off some of the pack's offerings: three new Riot Mode arenas, the "bank" where you can "'stache your loot" and a litany of modifiers, like "Hot Potato," "Loaded" and "Dodgeball." It's a slow week, folks – "Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot" spices things up on Xbox Live tomorrow, and PlayStation Network next week.

I thought the PSN version would come out until the 7th of January. ??

I love the style of Borderlands. Its music, its look, its addictive loot whore gameplay.
Even though Gearbox has worked on big expansions, ports, and BIA, I think Borderlands is their first game that has the potential to spawn an absolutely huge and successful franchise.
All I hope for in a sequel is a better story and more varied environments. I loved everything else about Borderlands. I just want some more story to flesh out the colorful world and odd cast.

I'd like some better weapons, or better scaling of them. Once I hit level 30, I think I only upgraded my main gun once until I hit 50 because most of them were terrible. What good is a million guns if only ~50 are worth the time?

I found a sniper rifle with 5 shot burst fire on my second playthrough. I love that gun but some guns just plain fucking suck. I also hate Moth-rakk.

You're telling me you used every gun in the game and only found 50 of them useful?

I'm playing Borderlands, on my 2nd play through, level 37... loved the game. Said that, I found that the music of the trailer... doesn't fit the video... at all... *shrug*

Oh no, Joystiq's become self aware and is...spamming itself??
Your tactics may confuse me machine, but you still won't get me! *shoots self*

Looks awesome... although I wish Gearbox knew the PSN updated on the 22nd, 'cuz I'm looking forward to this along with a friend. Then again, for all I know, the DLC wasn't even ready until today to be released on XBLA tomorrow and, finally, be available on the PSN the first thursday of the new year.
Can't wait, though. But I hope there's like a large area to walk around in between the different arenas. I don't want to just fast travel right to the three arenas, but if we have to, no biggie, I guess.

PC version is coming according to the interview on Shacknews. Really stupid how they're making people pay to have a bank instead of simply putting it in a patch, though. Their reason that there are "restrictions on space allowed for the free title updates" is BS. They could at least patch the bank into the PC version.

Now see that makes me want to buy this DLC. I'm still looking for a better review of this though. Will there be any challenge for Level 50 players? I ask because Gearbox seems to forgot to keep things interesting for those of us at the level cap. Zombie Island was a joke. I killed almost everything in one clip. Half the time I killed a boss and didn't even realize it because they dropped dead just as fast as the zombies. It was one big grind fest for achievement points, with little challenge and even less loot.
So will this be scaled correctly for us hanging around at 50? And can I play it over and over again and again. This needs to be as hard and replayable as say Firefight in ODST.

Frankly, I'm tired of the one-sided craptalking the Joystiq staff is doing in regards to Gearbox. Yes, Mr. Pitchford seems to have made up a fascinating story about the company's name, but it's getting old. Either settle it once and for all, or leave it.
Preferably the former.

If it had an increased level cap, i'd dig in right away.

Anyone know exactly what time this releases tonight?
And Zombie Island was too easy. I was level 50, and all the zombies were 44s. One shot from the Hellfire burnt them up.

You need to complete the story in Playthrough 2. After completing Playthrough 2 you will be in "Playthrough 2.5" where all the monsters are 50 or 51 and it spawns more super badasses.

I got my full 1k points in this and was thrilled for the new expansion.
But fell sad when I realized it did not raise the level cap and spawned an, honestly, meh campaign addition. I was thrilled with almost every step of the initial campaign, terrible as the story was, but with Ned, I don't know. I just didn't feel the draw.
As for the Moxxi addition... I think I may end up foregoing it and sending my copy off to the nether to pay for Darksiders. I've played the hell out of BL and I do love it, but I think I've played it enough to save it for when it goes uber cheap used.

Does anybody know the name of this song? I've tried all the music recognition apps on the iPhone, to no avail :(
Perhaps the music is in internal production, in which case, I say well done sirs, well done.
