It's been over a year since EA announced plans to publish a new IP developed by Epic's People Can Fly studio (Painkiller), and now we just might have the name of the project. People Can Fly has filed a software trademark (spotted by superannuation) for the term "Bulletstorm." While we could speculate as to whether this is the EA project, or whether it's the unnamed project that wowed Mark Rein back in 2007, there are more important things to discuss.
Specifically, what kind of game could Bulletstorm possibly be? With such an ambiguous title, it could be almost anything. A point-and-click adventure game? A suburban economy simulator? The mind boggles at the possibilities.

I would rather have Chainsawvortex, or Missleblizzard, but Bulletstorm is kickass too.

I forgot what this reminded me of, and now I remember: Killzone. How generic is that name?

For some reason Chainsaw Vortex sounds like a zombie game to me.

Sounds like a Dynasty Warriors-style game with guns. That or a shmup. Pretty terrible name if it's not one or the other.

Wouldn't the developer want to trademark something that doesn't reek of failure? If it turns out awesome, and I've heard that the Painkiller games can be fun, then more power to them. It just seems that with a name like that you know they won't be trying hard to have a decent story or develop quality characters. If they can't take the time to come up with a decent name, why would they spend time on any of that other stuff?
Maybe I'm just judging the game on even less than its cover. I still can't see myself having a game with this type of name in my game library.
I feel bad for being so prejudice.

This is a pretty bad headline. "Epic's People can Fly trademarks 'Bulletstorm'." What the fuck is that supposed to mean for somebody (me, for instance) that doesn't know what 'People Can Fly' is?

People Can Fly made Painkiller, which, FYI, has a gun in it that can fire shurikens and lightening.

If the game fails, you might as well call it ShitStorm
