If Square owns it, then expect to never see it on VC and instead you'll get a $30 DS port.

@awetoebawt:
I'd like to hear the rest of what you had to say about "GI-" before you cut it off. I don't recall a game done by Square that started with a G other than the Grandia series.

They were kind enough to give us March of the Black Queen on VC, though that was published in the states by Enix so it worked out a bit easier.

I think this is one of those rare cases I'd actually welcome a $40 DS port though. I still have my original CT SNES game complete, but I'm having a hard time trying to justify the outrageous prices for a complete OB64. Plus it might breath some life back into the series and we may see more of it.

I'm pretty sure that Square's official policy is to put games on the Virtual Console when they aren't really marketable as retail products.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that Ogre Battle 64 is marketable as a retail product.

Surprisingly, there are 5 Square Enix published games on the Virtual Console: Final Fantasy(NES), King's Knight(NES), ActRaiser(SNES), Secret of Mana(SNES), and Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen(SNES).

I would gladly pay the Square tax for OB64 though.

So who owns FFVII then? Obviously Square has lost the rights, as it was put it up for download for only $9.99. According to Tmac, it should have been released on PSP by cartridge instead for full retail price.

And there's also FFIV The After Years on WiiWare, man, rights must have been bought up by Konami or something...

Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite SRPG of all-time. What an amazing game. I hold it even dearer than my beloved Fire Emblem.

I'm playing March of the Black Queen now and loving it. OB64 better come the US VC, but I'm afraid tmac may be right about Square's intentions sadly.

I feel like this game never got the fanfare it deserved. It truly is a fantastic game; I'd even say it's in the top 3 N64 games.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the game on the DS, I just don't wanna pay 40 bucks for it.

I absolutely love the Ogre Battle saga, easilly in my to ten series ever.

For some reason I'm more intrigued by Kirby Star Stacker though. The original on Game Boy is one of my favorite puzzle games, it's one of those select few games I completed to 100%. I'd love to see that get a US release even with Nitnendo's import tax.

Yeah, I saw "Kirby's Star Stacker" on the list for the japanese SNES VC releases and thought they made a mistake (because it was released here on Game Boy). Looked it up on Wikipedia and it turns out that the game was re-made for SNES in Japan only.

I would love to see the import version come over here seeing as I sold my Game Boy copy long ago.

Ogre Battle 64 would be good too.

Sorry for the double post, but the schedule website lists Nintendo as the Virtual Console publisher. They published the game in Japan initially so they retained their publishing rights, I don't see why Atlus couldn't retain theirs in the US.

* My comment appears to have been eaten... appologies, trying again.

There`s only like 4 cases of that happening, and if you wait long enough, they drop down to less then $20 pretty quickly.

And Kirby Super Star`s on VC in Japan (for now).

Instantly shot up to my #1 most-wanted game on VC US, and #2 most wanted downloadable game - next to Xenogears on PSN, of course. I wonder, if enough people pester Square Enix and/or Atlus, will we see this game?

You now how Square Enix is going to do this right? See, this is why I look forward to the second beta release of Wii64, which shows a lot of potential (many games are already with full speed, audio and few graphic glitches). By that time, I can play Ogre Battle 64 without issues. Hackers are smart, they saw from day one that Nintendo and its third party companies would never release the games we TRULY want. Forget using WAD files, emulators are infinitely more safe and stable. I wish I could find out the bonehead (or boneheads) who's (or are) responsible for not releasing.
And Nintendo wonders why piracy is rampant.

Hell yeah, OB64 is a great game. It really is too bad that Quest got all ett up by Sqeenix, sealing the demise of the series. Most of the staff they kept was put to work on Final Fantasy Tactics games. Now, those aren't bad, but I loved Ogre Battle a whole hell of a lot more than Tactics Ogre. This is actually kind of coincidental on my part as I just pulled out my OB64 cart and started playing it again a few weeks ago. I'm going for the good ending this time. You don't get the extra chapter facing off against the so-called "badasses" from the first game, but that also means you don't have to take their "Even though you single-handedly saved the world, we don't like you, dillweed, and we're banishing you and striking you from the history books" bullshit.

Man, what a fantastic game.

We already got March of the Black Queen so lets hope they give this to us as well. This was my first foray into strategy RPGs. I love this game and am so glad that Square finally decided to put it on the VC.

Magnus is awesome and I can't wait to get a Dragoon again.

Hell, the only thing I couldn't figure out how to do in this game was activating the Elem Pedras.

To use the Pedras, the battle had to run on for a bit. You know the bar that goes up as the battle goes on and lets you change tactics or run? when it's full you can use an elem pedra attack. you only ever really got the chance later in the game and if you use characters who have long attack animations or attack maybe 3 times per battle so as to give the bar more time to fill. i only never got the virtue pedra. they would unleash just really big attacks that would randomly attack random enemies multiple times.

And I agree about the dragoons. They were awesome. I wish you could have more than one lol. the only guy who was stronger than a dragoon was Bisk the Lycanthrope/Werewolf.

Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom...man I recall playing that as a kid, vaguely. I remember it was not the usual kind of games I was used to playing at the time.

This was one of the first console games I played. I rented it and absolutely loved it. Went to buy it only to be told by my mom that it was discontinued and I couldn't get it anymore. I was so bummed out. I really hope this comes out in the U.S. so I can actually experience and understand the whole game(couldn't read back then.)

I guess I thought this came out earlier for some reason. I could definitely read at that point. Maybe I just didn't read anything in the game? Or maybe my memory is just fuzzy.....

Wait... 2000. Awesome, that means its completely eligible for Game of the Decade lists and what not. :)

Also, in the game, there's a location called the Rhyan Sea, which is a reference to Seven Seas of Rhye.
