Back in September, we heard the initial reports claiming Activision and FreeStyleGames had already begun work on the sequel to DJ Hero. These reports were corroborated by a recent article by Kelowna.com, in which DJ David Guetta, a contributor to the soundtrack of the first mixmaster simulator, mentioned that he'd been working on "the No. 2 version" of the game. We're assuming he's talking about a sequel, and not about the tone of graphite that's so popular amongst pencil manufacturers.
It only makes sense that a second game using the costly, rotating peripheral would be in the works. What would really be shocking is some kind of lid-unscrewing sim. Or a Lazy Suzan puzzle game!

The first didn't do very well, though. Did it?

They do not support this game like their Guitar Hero games. It is the black sheep.

They barely support Guitar Hero. Activisions idea of 'support' is releasing a new retail title.

DLC isn't considered support? I'm really tired of everyone hating Activision because it's cool to do so. It's really childish.

Doesn't every new game you get for the expensive peripherals you bought make it more worthwhile having bought the peripherals? It'd be nice if the games would be cheaper, if they're just iterations of earlier games, but I like being able to continue to use expensive things, myself.
Also, a Chinese family dinner game would be great with the turntable/ lazy suzan. See how quickly you can get a plate filled with peking duck, walnut shrimp, and noodles, while the rest of the family tries to fill their plates too.

Unless they keep updating the peripherals to be better. Who would want to use the original Guitar Hero controller over a Les Paul, RB Stratocaster, or Genericaster?

@Mazreal
That doesn't sound so bad. But I've heard rumors that Microsoft has been shiping Zephyr-board 360 units to Europe and selling them as 'new'. Heard anything?

I bought mine at Target when it was $88, the mixes alone are worth it. The only problem is I suck at rhythm games.

The Beatles instruments are the only way to get RB2 Guitars in the UK. The beatles instruments are basically from the same blueprints as the improved RB2 guitars. However, the RB2 guitars arnt sold in the UK. Fucking retarded decision by Harmonix.

David Guetta = meh...
I'm just gonna get the first one after the second comes out so it'll be cheap. It's not like it gonna be any different except for some new songs that could easily be released as DLC.

I completely understand why you would be weary picking DJ Hero up but I really really enjoy it. Definitely not for everybody though.

As long as they release a stand-alone version of the game WITHOUT a turntable peripheral, then this will be awesome. I already have two of the controllers, the wired one I have from those demo kits they were giving out, and I REALLY don't another one lying around.

I tried DJ hero, and my friend got DJ hero (he didn't pay for it though) and IT IS NOT A PARTY GAME. This isn't easy to get into, and only two people can play.
But it was still fun though, when you get used to it, you can enjoy it. And some of the mixes were incredible, and of course DAFT PUNK you can't mess up with them on your side.
But Activision constantly shell out so many "Hero" games I think by DJ Hero the majority of consumers said "ENOUGH ALREADY, lets wait until Christmas to buy more music games."

Common conversation between Activision (publisher) and the devs for DJ Hero (also Neversoft?):
Dev: "Hey! We found lotsa bugs and want to fix them in our next pa-"
Pub: -finishes the sentence with- "GAME!"
Dev: "OH YEAH! MORE MONIES!" -awesomeface, hi5 Kotick-

I was really interested in DJ hero till I previewed the tracks, if it weren't such a hip hop sausage party game I would have got it. I think they need to spend some time with Deadmau5, Justice, Digweed, and others of that caliber for their tracklisting for me to give a damn about this franchise. Noisia was a step in the right direction at least.

This neither surprises nor disappoints me. I'll definitely buy another DJ Hero if the mixes are just as good. The first one left me wanting more...of course, that could also be because it was missing what are now basic features in rhythm games like create-a-character, career mode, and freestyle mode. It's easy to overlook those because it's so damn fun, but as features go, DJ Hero is pretty barebones.
I knew the minute I played it that they planned for a sequel because of how much was intentionally left out so they could introduce them as "new" features later.
