Okay, okay, everyone, settle down. Listen, we know there's been a lot of unrest in this, our first ever "How to Get Into the Top 20 Globally in World 1 Stage 1 for PixelJunk Shooter" class. You've been here for three weeks now without ever actually talking Shooter strategies and your whispers are starting to become deafening. "Why does Mr. McElroy take such long naps?" we hear you ask, or, "Why did I have to play $3,000 for this?"
On this, our graduation day, we have two messages for you. 1. Watch the video after the break and do exactly that. And 2. The magic was inside you the whole time. Now, if a few of you would just stand on your desks and say, "Oh captain, my captain," we'll be on our way.
@Trickob - Don't feel bad, I actually had to look it up on youtube because I wasn't 100% sure which one it was either. Technically, you still beat him to the reference though.
I've long past realized the fact that I will NEVER be one of the top player for any games.
Yesterday I was playing Motorstorm Pacific Rift time trials and tried downloading he record holders ghost to find the best possible route. Unfortunately I could see the ghost for about 1/3 of the track before it disappeared out of sight. :(
Most leaderboards are full of people who religiously play the game, like far more than any normal person should. Like, little kid in summer vacation with a video game console as a parent. All you have to do to easily ignore leaderboards is to think about sacrificing every other aspect of your life to get good enough at it to top the boards, and to know that it doesn't really mean anything once you do. Then you're like OK, xxSilentxxKillerxx or whatever can have the #1 spot, he deserves it.
I made it into the top 10 on some leaderboards in echochrome, Switchball, and Pinball Heroes: Hot Shots Golf, and even into the top 5 on some Switchball levels, but I may have been bumped out already. I know I've been bumped out in echochrome. But, I'm not interested enough to try to get back in. In other games, I'm usually lucky to get into the top few hundred or even few thousand.
I pulled it off once, happened across an internet game (boxhead) right after released, and finished my game more quickly than the people who were busy scoring higher than me, so I was in the first for about three minutes. then I refreshed and was in seventh. next refresh, it was 18th. now I'm not even close.
The only leaderboard I was ever in the top 20 for (or even ATTEMPTED to reach top 20) was Mega Man 9's Endless Mode. I was playing on the PS3 (scores were different for each console), and I got to like 12th place. I was so psyched haha. Endless Mode was awesome.
I got 100% in Shooter, but haven't attempted any high scoring. I dunno if I will or not. I'm mostly just looking forward to the inevitable expansion. I think PJS will be the most suitabke PJ game for an expansion. Fun game tho.
I typically compare my standings with people on my friend's list on the x360--y'know, other people that actually have a life....if I'm in the middle or towards the top than I feel good. other than that, I don't have a need to be the best of the best--typically beating a game on its hardest or 2nd hardest difficulty is reward enough for me, that, and seeing the ending.
The first day, I managed to rank 12th globally. The next day I dropped into 25th...now...I don't even think I'm in the top 100. No matter how many times I play it, I just can't improve my completion time.
