Rumor: Dragon Age expansion 'Awakening' in March

Dragon Age: Origins may seem expansive enough, but BioWare has already proven willing to inflate the game further with DLC and talk of retail expansion packs. And according to an unidentified retailer listing spotted by Eurogamer.cz, the first of those expansions, titled Awakening, will supposedly arrive in Europe on March 19.

According to Eurogamer's summary, the expansion will star a new player character with a new origin story, new areas and enemies, for about 15 hours of new content. The expansion will also raise the level cap. Eurogamer speculates that EA will announce this expansion sometime in January, though we can't fathom how that information would be extrapolated from a retailer's erroneously hasty listing.

Wow, you could spend all of 2010 playing only Bioware RPGs.

Have to get to this at some point. After Oblivion (1st time thru), and ME2, and FF13, and Bayonetta, and Dante's Inferno, and nightly multiplayer Gears2 and NHL....

I am a huge BioWare fan, Dragon Age is good but it isn't as good as many claim. The game is about an 8 out of 10. IGN and Gamespot game it a 9 or 9.5 which is a little too much.

I also do not like how they are handling DLC. A Dev himself said the latest DLC will cost 5 bucks (cheap enough) but then he also goes on to say it can take as little as 30 minutes to complete this DLC patch.

So you get 30 minutes - 45 minutes of content for 5 bucks?

The first DLC was 7 bucks for a non-repeatable keep. Now it is 5, at the early stage we set the price and how much content is delivered for the price.

Hopefully we aren't fanboys and accept things like 30 minutes of content for 5 bucks.

It's a solid 8, and plays like an 8.5 if you start modding it. ;)

This is why I skipped this game and am waiting for the Game of the Year Edition

A new player character? That is very very interesting. I wonder, given the possible events at the end of the regular game, will this new character be who we play as if DAO2 utilizes an ME2 style character transfer? So many questions, but i guess there's enough games between now and march to keep me more than occupied

the more i think about it the crazier the possibilities get, could "Awakening" refer to a new Archdemon awakening or something like that?

Or...the Force awakening inside of him? ;)

I guess we could go into spoilers, but since that only applies if you make the specific decision it's unlikely.

yeah, im really really hoping for a direct continuation of the main story and id much rather play as my main character rather than the, ahem, result of the certain ritual

Raise the level cap? I didn't know there WAS a cap.

From what Ive read the lvl cap is 25, but there isnt enough content in the game to hit it.

From what I remember...it plays a LOT like KotOR played, which I love. I have zero problems with the combat and I have the 360 purchase. If it wasn't for Batman: AA this would be my GotY.

Also, there's NOT technically a level cap.....but once you go past 25 you can no longer unlock perks or whatever.

.....And I have the 360 purchase? Whoa...weird.

Does anybody know what the level cap IS? I've been told that it's 20, but I've hit level 22... So... Does will this raise it from infinite to infinite+?

Can't get enough of this game. Definitely welcoming this. Bioware's best game since Baldur's Gate 2 for me. Even better than KOTOR.

I can't wait to see it real or not. So I can get more achievements. And lot of them too.

Good thing Borderlands doesn't have any for-pay DLC, right...oh, wait...

I can confirm this expansion pack.
I attended a siggraph conference with some bioware artists who snuk in a preview of some content.
(new enemies and such)

i was fortunate enough to play on all 3 versions, myself owning the ps3 between my 2 brothers one with xbox and other with pc. I wish i had a pc capable of playing the game.. i was able to switch between characters and manage my party alot faster on the pc due to all the shortcuts and stuff and pc just looks so much better.. not saying graphics but the way huds are layed out
