Reminiscent of the baby chocobo that nests within Final Fantasy XIII hero Sazh Katzroy's gorgeous afro, our baby chocobo only seems to flutter around, refusing to nest within our own Avatar hairdos. We presume that feature will be some kind of pre-order bonus for Final Fantasy XIII when it launches on March 9, 2010.

For useless junk, this is pretty cool useless junk. It really is a bit of an e-penis, isn't it?

To me any avatar items is kind of like saying "Hey look at me, I'm cool, hey over here *waves* hello?"
That said, it's free so fuck it.

I friggin' love chocobos (they disposed my previous [top] love of chickens), but dammit, tried to use the code and it's a no-go because I haven't created an avatar! Xbox 360 is the last of the modern consoles I'd anticipate getting/using, so this is a bummer...

Probably because no console = no avatar. Similar case with me, Saw "Free Chocobo", created a live account online, and yet hane no XBox yet. I just hope these codes don`t have an expiration date....

Wow Joystiq, couldn't you have posted something when I could still get a free one? (Although you probably did, so the egg is on my face)

Oh, it was on xbox.joystiq. That explains why I didn't see it and am now bereft of a pet chicken.

Or you could just get it on PS3.
Too bad VS. isn't on 360.

It depends on how linear the game is, and whether you've got to keep switching discs.
I'd think your bigger issue is the compression, with lower resolution cutscenes.

When I feel down about multiple discs I just try to remember playing Kings Quest back in the day. Using eleven 5 1/2" floppies that had to be swapped out every 2 screens. Then 4 discs doesn't seem so horrible to me.

Ahhh... Chocobos. I seriously wonder (a) whether Final Fantasy Versus 13 will have chocobos (supposed to be "reality") and (b) whether it is ever going to come out:

Haha I remember doing the same thing for the Quest games and Lucasart games, Samuel. And the number of disks just kept increasing until the CD took over.
I wonder how big FFXIII is? I'm sure it would take a lot of floppy disks!

I wasn't trolling, I was actually helping people out.
I would play VS. on 360 if I could, but do we have vs. on 360?
No.
We don't.

I doubt it'll happen, but I'd be more worried about compression artifacts. This is the first game larger than 25GB (it's on a DL Blu-ray) on the 360.

Why are some of you worrying about the multiple disks on the 360?
Haven't any of you ever played the Final Fantasy games on the PS1? Those had multiple disks and as I recall, no one had a problem with that.

No, the game doesn't, but the actual cutscenes are 1080p on the PS3.

No, it's more than 25GB, that's why it's on a dual layer BD. And Square has been pushing for three discs, not four.
