@randomslagathor

The name of the song in the Silent Hill trailer is called 'When You're Gone' sung by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn

Very nice, it's interesting to see everyone's picks. However, the only game on this list that I legitimately cared about was Ratchet and Clank, Red Faction, and Ninja Gaiden.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was awful. Why they decided to remove all the blood and gore was beyond me. Half the fun of the game was dismembering people and watching geysers of blood spew out.

It's true, the blood is gone, but the dismemberment is still a crucial part of the fighting (i.e. dispatching weakened enemies quickly). I liked the gore effects, but I'd rather have the smooth framerate and the smaller, tighter battles.

NG2 played just fine for me. The over the top gore of the original with the unforgiving difficulty together made my ultimate victory as Ryu Hayabusa that much sweeter. :) NG2 > Sigma.

So they nerfed NG2S? reducing the number of active enemies. the twin armadillo's wasn't that hard.. only thing that really got on my nerves is archer-types firing on you while your surounded by enemies (happens in far too many games)

It's not that the dual armadillo fight wasn't hard, it just wasn't fun, especially the color scheme that burned your retina. There were alot of things in NG2 that just weren't fun. They were completely doable, but the cool factor just wasn't there.

I think both NG2 and NGS2 were pretty weak followups coming from NGB. The only things that really shines are the weapons and movesets, but everything else was pretty half hearted. I was especially disappointed in the bosses.

I'd originally kept away from it, due to the lack of blood and thinking I'd be getting a half-baked version, but this 5-second overview may have convinced me to pick up Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

I still think some of NG2's problems remained in NGS2, mostly the pacing and level design that I felt were lacking. They did trim the fat like alot, but the new character levels feel incredibly tacked on. Multiplayer was a welcomed addition, tho I think they went a little overboard with the ultimate ninja challenges.

Hopefully NG3 brings better pacing, level and enemy design, also OPTIONAL character campaigns would be nice (or the ability to play the entire campaign with any character).

Dood, I hear you. What the game lacked in color palettes was made up for in fun - especially with the DLC that was practically another game. But then, in reference to your post, Resident Evil 5 is getting a bit more best-of love than most other picks too.

Now post a top 10 downloadable games list! Lostwinds: Winter of Melodias would be top 5 at least with any justice, as would a Bit Trip.

I never played inFamous. Though, i've never used my PS3 for anything other than Blu-ray or network media, much to @ludwigk's disgust. I will play uncharted 1 then 2 over the next few weeks though.

For me, and i'm not saying Prototype is my game of the year by all means, but after i picked up prototype i never wanted to put it down, until i finished. Just like the original Assassin's Creed (and the new one, actually). Thats the measure of a good game for me!

Prototype was plagued by a shit story. The overall presentation of Infamous from the comic-book style cutscenes to the graphics and the voice acting are all pretty damn impressive. And prototype was pretty lacking in all of those areas.

Personally though, I liked Prototype better. The core gameplay was fast paced and fun. You felt like you were ridiculously powerful. Infamous was good, but like many others have said "It was a superhero game where I didn't feel like a superhero"

Prototype was mediocre. They gave you so many moves and abilities that it was overwhelming. There were many times where I had to pull up the move screen to figure out how to do something. 50% of the abilities were useless and it just made the game more cluttered.

The whole "hold a single button to climb a building" actually decreased the cool factor of climbing buildings.

The controls were a disaster, acting and cutscenes were terrible, and the city was way too large which meant traveling was slow and boring.

The game has some fun moments but its mostly just fun because you are destroying things.

Yay, finally see a Trials HD. I just beat the tracks on Expert like 5 minutes ago, too haha. Great game and deserves a spot in anyone's top 10 IMO. Also like the fact Dirt 2 is there. Haven't played it, but loved Dirt 1 and Dirt 2 can only be great.

I take it that you haven't played Motorstorm 2 :-) Dirt2 somewhat disappointed me. I was hoping for more point to point rally races instead of just Grid with dirt tracks.

Racing online is kinda boring since everybody uses that unlockable overpowered buggy thing.

Shatter and Bit Trip Beat are awesome.

"Yes, the final boss was a tedious struggle (especially if you're playing as Sheva), but isn't that also true of Joystiq's top 3 games of 2009?"

I don't know about assassins creed II, but both Uncharted 2 and Batman had ridiculously easy, simple final bosses.

Yeah Lazaravich was definitely the low-point of Uncharted 2 for me. Everything was awesome up until that point. I'm just thankful that it didn't end there and there was still a little bit of action left afterwards
