Excitebike: World Rally? Why haven't I heard of this?

Um, because the Wii is not getting fair press in the gaming industry?

Because Nintendo sent it out to die?

Joystiq mentioned it a few times.

Because everyone advertised it where you weren't looking.

They all hate you.

Sorry but I disagree with DiRT2. The first one is better in three aspects:

1) Menu flow. In DiRT2 the caravan/audience thing is neat, but a little long to load. And confusing.

2) Car selection: Yes, I know they made Rally cars avalible for Rallycross AND Trailblazer (just call it Hill Climb, damnit) and that there are unlockable cars, but the first one had more car classes:

- FWD rally
- RWD rally
- AWD rally
- Classic rally
- Modified rallycross
- Supercars rallycross
- Hillclimb

3) Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Suzuki Escudo. Joe Satriani music. Good times.

I have to agree with Brutal Legends not necessarily the best game but it does the job. Love the soundtrack.

i think it's poor form to compare forza 3 with games like dirt 2 and NFS shift. sure, shift and dirt 2 are SUPPOSED to be a simulation racers, but when you look at customization, how the cars handle, physics, design aesthetic, etc, shift and dirt 2 are a bit closer to the arcade racer side of things. or at the very least i think we can agree that between forza and shift/dirt, forza goes for a completely different feel.

Yeah, it's more accurate to compare Forza and Gran Turismo.

But that never goes well for Forza.

yeah, it's unfortunate because a lot of people aren't realizing that their gripes against forza (the biggest of which is the handling) is just racing simulators moving towards a much more realistic driving experience, which is NOT friendly at all to pick up and play. i remember a ton of people complaining about the handling in the recent gran turismo V demo in the same way that they complained about forza 3's handling, and i'd bet it's because the learning curve for true, realistic handling isn't 5 or 10 minutes like previous games. driving a car at 150mph isn't easy, and if it's your first time ever you would definitely crash. a true simulator expresses that, though fortunately the forza guys were kind enough to include assists to make the game a little more bearable as you're starting out.

My issue with that demo is that A: It was a step back from Prologue visually and B: If I push the control stick, I expect the car to do SOMETHING. Half the time it just kept going straight.

Also, for all the bad press Grin's Bionic Commando got, it surprised me quite a bit when I picked it up for sale. Crap story and shoddy ending, but man, the swinging combat was such a rush. The music and atmosphere were very fitting. I may be the only one who actually appreciated the radiation buffer zones as it forced me to improve swinging.

I thought it was terrible before it even hit. I really didn't care for the character design and I just knew it was gonna flop. The multiplayer demo just confirmed my suspicions. Really awful way to promote the game. The reviews afterwards sealed the deal. I never picked it up when it was full price or even bothered to rent it.

Then it was $20 bucks and finally tried it. I dunno if it was the price talking or if the actual game wasn't as bad as people said it was. But I freaking loved swinging through the destroyed city, listening to the alien-like speech patterns of the biomechs echo along with that music.

I think it was a mix of bad demo, bad storyline/ending and people's unwillingness to learn the swinging that led to it's downfall. If you actually give it a chance, you'll learn to appreciate what is good about the title and forgive it's shortcomings (which outweigh the good IMO).

It was a light year on for original 1st-party Nintendo Wii titles. the drought of the latter half of 2008 really did drag on for a whole other year, and seems to be continuing through at least until the 2nd quarter of 2010.

Doesn't mean it hasn't been a great year for Wii (3rd parties seemed to fill it out rather nicely, even though they weren't blockbusters), but Nintendo's own support seems to have dried up for the time.

How in the hell can you put God of War Collection in your best of the rest, but then one paragraph down the screen claim that "New Play Control doesn't count"

Please, enlighten me.

Because the article is about what games he liked this year, so apparently none of the "New Play Control" games captured his attention. Doesn't mean they're bad, just means they didn't stand out above other titles that came out this year.

Personally, I loved Pikmin, but playing it with the wiimote doesn't sound like a real improvement to me, and I haven't picked up the new version. But GoW collection I bought because I wanted to play those games in 720p at 60fps, both of which hugely improved the games in my opinion.

And honestly the game I'm anticipating the most for the Wii (or actually, any console right now) is No More Heroes 2, which comes out this month. Overall 2010 is looking to be a great year for the Wii, with NMH2, Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, and other things I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Kudos on the GoW:CoO love. That was a great game just begging to be ported to the PS3 collection. That game was and still is amazing on the PSP.
