Hmm, watch an anime on the Forerunners that will likely be discredited from canon, or wait for the new book trilogy coming this year.
Think I'll wait for the books.

Except this isn't trolling. This is me saying I'd rather read the books than watch the anime.

I'm waiting for this to come out on disc to watch all the episodes.
Have you read Halo: Evolutions collection of short stories? I just got it for xmas and they have some pretty good stories that all fall in line with the Halo canon. The current short I'm reading tells of events just after the original Halo game when John-117 blows up the Halo ring.

Is that why I feel the urge to slap you up the side of the head for being you?

@hello
Yeah, I enjoyed Evolutions. Especially the potential novel set up with Admiral Cole's backstory.

Seriously? All of you need to just shut the fuck up. The comments on this site are a bunch of children bitching. The console wars in 06 and 07 were better than this. Everyone keeps calling eachother out. Debates about what is considered trolling? I miss Fernando.

Well, at the peak of stupidity by the Darth Bradwart Attack Force, we were reaching 2+ pages from one post...

discredited from who's canon Bradwart? This was produced by 343 studios which is ostensibly in control of Halo's canon now. Are you're suggesting some kind of George Lucasian A/B/C/D canon where some stuff is included but not others? Because this really does fit in pretty well with regular Bungie canon, especially considering some of their own stuff was contradictory. SPOILERS SPOILERS I can't see why this would be disregarded anyway, they never took off their helmets and it was never explicitly implied that humans were actually forerunner, rather this connects with the idea that forerunner found humans special and chose them as their successors but are not necessarily genetically related

Oh, god, I hope it isn't as bad as Star Wars canon. That's one big fracking disaster there.

I'd imagine after Bungie hands the series off to 343 Industries, it'll quiet down.
Probably because Bungie's next IP will blow it away.

Right, because nothing happened before the events of Halo C.E. There's nothing they can do with Halo anymore.

Hell, I'd rather watch cartoons about the Halo universe than the Gears of War universe.
But I'd rather watch Captain N: The Game Master above all!

Well, Halo Wars spawned largely because Halo was originally destined to be a Mac RTS.

Anyone remember when they were a kid, and the intro to a cartoon was awesomely animated and stuff? Then you watch the actual cartoon and the cartoon is no where near the quality of the intro? Same thing.
I've seen images of this and it looked really high production value, and even the image on the X-box Live Network of Cortana looks awesome, so I was expecting some really nice looking anime. But instead, it looked like it was animated by people who made Heavy Metal 25 years ago... it looks like a 25 year old cartoon. Got about 5 minutes in and expectations just got shot.

No cause I can watch video of Ocarina of Time and know what it looks like and enjoy it, I liked Ocarina of Time, thought it was an amazing game and got every stupid little skull spider thing.
I'm talking about the difference between initial screenshots of the anime vs what you actually get. I didn't say the cartoon was bad, just disappointing. I'm not a Halo fan enough to watch it, but am an anime fan... so just wanted to see some classy slick and clean art like this...

Instead... I got something that was very flat colored and didn't look like ANY screenshot you'll find on a Google image search.

Actually, FYI:
Frank O'Connor replied to the question:
Hey Frankie is Origins II going to be set 100,000 years ago as well?
"Nope. Part II starts there, but goes in some amazing directions. And is visually very different."
I believe the art styling seen in promo material that actually looks nice (like the picture heading this article) is from Part II.

I found the art style vaguely reminiscent of the simpsons, very heavy outlining, and then kinda shitty on the inside, but the story was very interesting and provided some nice answers id hoped for since Halo 1.

That screen grab is from the CG episode "The Package." HALO Legends is a collection of episodes developed at several different anime studios, so the art varies from episode to episode. If you haven't watched "The Duel," I highly recommend it... it's gorgeous.

Oh no, it was a cash grab. But Halo did lend itself rather well to an RTS with only minor modifications.

@ Spyder - You call it a cash grab, I call it fan service.
Fans have been clamoring for a Halo RTS ever since Halo was revealed to have briefly been an RTS that was under full development. So really, it has everything to do with that. Did Microsoft smell some money with their decision to develop Halo Wars? Of course, they did their research, but they ultimately came out with exactly what the fans wanted, and pleased a few other Halo observers in the process (and naturally, gave a new bit of fodder to Halo trolls)

Yeah, as revealed in the latest podcast, Halo was under development as an RTS for 18 months, being built on the Myth II engine. As Lehto put it, seeing the Warthog on screen, and thinking 'how cool would it be to drive that!?' made them switch to a third-person shooter. Then, shortly after that, the team again realized that first-person would be the way to go.

Can we please have H:Reach out already so Bungie will more-or-less move on with the Halo series and focus on a new game? In between ODST, Marathon, Myth and Halo Wars, both the studio and the Halo series have proven to be far less of a one-trick pony when compared to CoD/Infinity Ward yet somehow they magically get 20x times as much hate.
Eh, fanboys will be fanboys. Suck it up and at least admit that you hate it specifically for being an Xbox-mascot.
Incidentally, I liked Halo Wars because it experimented with the universe and tried to expand on the shallow-theme-park-Halo-Universe that is also known as the main three games - and boy, does it need expanding. Fair 'nuff the game kinda sucked, but keep it up MS and create more spin-offs. A BiA-esque game by Gearbox set in Halo universe? Fuck yeaaaash. :)

All we know is that this 'new IP' they're working on started initial pre-production shortly after Halo 3 launched, Jason Jones is actually taking a hands-on approach to it (rumored to even be Creative Director), it will launch sometime after Reach, and Microsoft may or may not be the publisher (I lean towards not, that relationship has been poisoned by ODST pretty badly).
And you forgot Oni. ;)

Well since I kind of hate cliffhangers (I would wait till the season of Lost is over than rent it on DVD)
I'm going to pass on this and just buy it on Blu Ray when it comes out. I enjoyed the 2 I've seen so far so I suspect I'll like the majority of them and look forward to purchasing it.

Microsoft will be the publisher. Period. Bungie isn't free to do whatever they want. They cannot develop for any non-MS platform either. I don't know how long this exclusivity lasts, but it's on for now.
And before you ask, a friend approached Bungie about developing for other platforms right after they "separated" from MS and was told this information flat-out.
It'll be interesting to see if Jones is involved in the new project. I know he wanted nothing to do with Halo 2 (but was roped into doing some work) or Halo 3 (and as far as I know succeeded not doing anything on that).
Personally, I don't hate Halo. I don't like it though, I found the vehicles in Halo 1 to be difficult to drive and then I was never able to get into it after that. I do find the level of people's allegiances to it despite MS' attempts to pull a Kotick (Lucas?) to be surprising enough that I'm kind of turned off by that.

The problem with this stupid 24 hour showing is that I missed the first episode, and then did not want to watch the rest before seeing the first...but I couldn't see the first...
