Ben Heck's PS3 Slim laptop going for broke on eBay

If you're an extremely nomadic gamer with a couple of grands in the bank to spare, you might be interested to learn that Ben Heck's ultra slick PS3 Slim laptop is now up for grabs on eBay. As you might remember, the portable-ized device was originally purchased by gaming retailer The Score, then raffled off to one of the shop's customers. Now that customer is selling it on eBay. We certainly hope that, at some point, somebody will play the damn thing. Please, if you've got the extra $2,000, won't you give this poor creature a permanent, loving home?

That's his opinion though. It's not like he littered his eBay listing with XBOX RULES, PS3 SUCKS!!

Just because he has no interest in PS3 gaming, doesn't make him a fanboy. I don't have an interest in PS3 gaming either, (not enough to buy one, let me put it that way). Yet I can appreciate it for what it's worth. That's not quite my definition of fanboy, but whatever.

Well I don't like him cause he's fat. He looks like the person who would take the last piece of cake, and sign up to win a PS3 laptop for some cash...

The guy is a complete non-gamer. You can see in the background that he has an ancient iMac for a computer. I'm pretty sure he doesn't play any games at all.

So he won a game machine when he was out buying Microsoft Word student edition and decided to sell it. When he said "I have no interest in PS3 gaming, he probably should have said, "I have no interest in gaming."

Sony, Microsoft, give this guy a shit load of money and start mass producing these things!!

I'm sure this thing could be tiny if they gave him large sums of money. He does all this w/ spare cash.

I dunno, they are fun to look at but that is about it. It wouldn't be very practical. That shit would HAVE to stay on the charger eliminating any chance of portability. Way to much power usage.

it is amazing, but microsoft and sony could easily do this on there own.

it honestly isn't that hard, it is amazing, but i highly doubt that ms or sony would need him to make it.

I think Sony is already losing a few bucks on each Slim... I doubt they have any interest in trying to turn a buck on a niche unit.

Also, good luck with reliably cooling a repackage like that if you used it as your main gaming device for more than a few hours at a time.

The slim was shrunk only when the semiconductor process technology node was reduced to 45nm allowing it to be more effectively cooled in a smaller box.

Any reboxing (and that's really all these BH things are) into small form factors just begs for heat death in the long term. Since there's only one of these things no telling how reliable it would be when run consistently for decent periods.

thats pretty sad that someone who isnt into playstation gaming won this console, and is now charging $2,000 for it. What a fucking scumbag.

Yet, if you look at the prize page from the contest he won it on it says "The prizes available to be won in this Promotion are one (1) "PS3 Slim Laptop" (verifiable retail value $7499.99)" So, he's still offering it at quite a savings! (That retail value cannot be based in reality.)

Why just give me one good reason why, I would waste money on that crap ????????

So he's not into PlayStation 3 gaming, yet he entered to win that, but for his bid, he's asking for serious bidders only. Lolz. I get what he's trying to say, but it does sound a bit hypocritical.

I hear ya. Kind of defeats the purpose of being a ps3 "laptop". I don't know why he chose to not include a keyboard, the 360 version had one.

It is just a portable PS3, just like a laptop is a portable computer.

Companies used to make screens that fit on top of consoles, but the demand isn't high enough now that people just buy portable dvd players for their cars. You can just use those instead of having a console specific screen.

I've seen one for a 360, but not for a PS3 or Wii. But the Wii's form factor makes it slightly more difficult.

So let me get this straight--you not only get a free PS3, but a FREAKIN' LAPTOP PS3 at that, and you're turning around and selling it right away? This kid should try Uncharted 2 on this thing and THEN see if he wants to sell it.

So after I pay now $2500 for something he won for free, I still got to pay shipping. Really no free shipping. And I hate to say it but for $2500 I would rather try to make my own first, or you know buy a PS3 Slim and a huge T.V. since I would never use it as a portable device. It is kinda douchey that he is selling it cause he has no interest in PS3 gaming despite the fact there are great games on the system and it would give him a good portable option. But oh well crap like that happens all the time. If he wasn't selling it some one else would.
