What's the best way to improve upon a suit that basically imbues its wearer with super powers? Give him a giant, badass robot to pilot instead -- and that's exactly what the MechWarrior: Living Legends mod for Crysis does. This full conversion mod transforms the game into something almost unrecognizable, complete with a unique story, mixture of first-person and sim gameplay and, more importantly, so so many giant robots.
If you're looking for some more information on the ambitious mod, check out the official FAQ and clear some HDD space. The mod is in beta now so feel free to get in on the fun here.
Is it just me, or was the whole issue with "But we'll need a supercomputer!" just smooth talked over with relatively irrevalent drivel? I mean, it sorta makes sense, but it's pretty longwinded...
My dear friend, they've got your Mad Cat/Timber Wolf. They'd be silly to not have that! *laughs*
This mod is fantastic. I've had such a blast playing it, and with the various options both for Mechs and vehicles, there's really something for everyone there.
This is Beta 1, so they put in as much as they could and will be adding more in the future, but you've got some really iconic mechs to choose from. Ravens and Kit Foxes, Bushwhackers and Shadowcats, Vultures, Catapults, Mad Cats, even the Awesome, Mad Cat Mk II, and Atlas! This is not an all inclusive list, of course, but those are some of the big ones.
I'm not sure what you mean... this mod has been pretty big news for a long while now. I love it! Glad they finally opened up the beta for everyone to enjoy.
I want to play this so bad...but....securom....son of a bitch. Someone tell me if it is good, and I'll dig out an old computer to play it on (while borrowing a friends copy of Crysis, thus keeping my securom boycott going).
This looks really good. They got the whole feeling of weight in the promo video.. When I was a kid Mechwarrior 2 Changed my gaming life.. I started to demand quality from my games.. Then Microsoft, in my opinion screwed the franchise by making it more of an fps and less like a walking tank game. They also lost the feel that Mechwarrior 2 had. The factions didnt seem that different..and I am sorry the colors were way bright. Then they turned it into a standard shooter.. and dumbed it down. I remember buying my sidewinder joystick because it had a hat and u could twist the stick for rotating the body.. oh and dont forget the throttle.. It was awesome. I remember u had to balance the heatsinks vs.. the firepower. the weight vs speed. Long rang vs short range weapons..and the cross linking of the different weapon groups.. The most satisfying moment for me was having a larger Mech bearing down on me.. and me pulling the trigger after linking all of my weapons together. It fired and overloaded the mech and it went into system shutdown... but I leveled the other guy.. I am gonna fish out my crysis disk.. and I am willing to give this great looking conversion a shot... if only my sidewinder still worked in windows 7 :(
Wow, that looks amazing. Infantry, Vehicles, Elementals (power armor), Mechs, AND Aerospace fighters?!? I might have to buy Crysis just to play this mod. Hopefully this mod is even 1/4 as good as the movie makes it look.
It's good, I finally got to try it. My only complaints are it seems a little rough, and it can get pretty laggy. Hoping those issues get resolved; It's hella fun otherwise.
