If we're looking for a detailed explanation, Jeff Gertstmann and Rich Gallup had a running joke where they would come up with names for each new year in the century, like they were trying to be incredibly hip. So, 2007 was the Twenty-Aught-Savage, and so on.
Whether they originated the term or not, they latched on to Two-Thousand-and-Sin for the New Year.
See, that probably didn't merit a detailed breakdown, did it?

Thank you copa, even if it didnt warrant an explanation i appreciate yours. I really only listen to the joystiq podcast and only recently have I started to come out of my shell and occasionally listen to the CAGcast and i guess ill have to start with the giantbombcast now too

The Giantbombcast is an awesome podcast. They actually go through games, game news, and stories in a much more fluid nature than most other podcasts. They used to talk about drinks for the first 20 minutes of the show, but that seems to have stopped. Also, the dynamic between the four guests works well. Mainly because they all have different tastes (likes and dislikes) and are not afraid of bringing up their opinion on the matter.
Probably the best gaming podcast out there.

Pretty weak month overall, but Mass Effect 2 saves it in the end. That alone should keep me busy for the next couple months, or at least until Heavy Rain comes out next month.

Well my last comment should give the hint I'm interested in Heavy Rain, but no nothing else this month. I'll end up gameflying No More Heroes 2, because that game's way too japanese for my tastes. Same with the Capcom fighting game...I don't even know what the hell a tatsunoko is.

I know, and in a way it's kind of depressing. Don't get me wrong, I know there will be other great games to play this year but to know that none of them will surpass ME2 which comes out in January and not November, it's sad. I've never had a goty that came out so early in the year.

Other than Torchlight, which I already purchased a couple months ago, I'd agree. Mass Effect 2 is the only game coming out this month that interests me.
Bayonetta looks absolutely terrible. I don't understand why it gets so much hype, but to each his own. It does at least look like there is a good amount of variety, making the month pretty exciting for anyone, regardless of what type of game you're into.

MAG is going to be awful and extremely generic, and I really do feel bad for the ps3 only owners that they'll be stuck with that while the 360 only and multi console owners will be enjoying ME2 on the same day.

Yes you must have because no announcement was ever made. Will I be stunned if it eventually comes to ps3? No, but it will most likely be a year down the road when everyone's played it and has moved on so no one will care anymore.
