Ah really?
To bad that it's already 6 over here...

But somehow, I thought the servers for this game had been shut down for a looooooooooong time.
That's what kept me from picking this up second hand....and now it's really to late.

Ah well, maybe next time somebody makes a mass online mecha game.

I picked up a copy for 5 bucks. Fun game to play with a group, and it's sad to see it go.

I don't really understand these things. I thought we paid for Live for MS to handle the server end of things... but then you read about companies running their own.

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but these types of announcements make me wonder why I pay for LIVE in the first place.

As I understand it, MS does have their own servers but you can opt-out of using them. Not sure why you'd want to do that. I could be totally wrong though.

If I remember correctly, Chromehounds had a persistant online mode that kept track of individual matches and tallied them against a larger world battle. You would choose a faction receive updates in the lobbies about which areas needed troops and then you would go fight in those maps. They even had events with Super Mechs that would take dozens of individual matches to take down. It had fully customizable mechs to build. Good game if given a chance.

This is too bad. I have many memories on that game, and had been putting off finishing a whole bunch more on the game. Guess it will never come to fruition. Good Bye Chromehounds.

That is bs because there are servers up for games for the original xbox as well as game that came out when the xbox360 first came out. How can you have a game selling in the stores, people still playing it, and shut down the servers. . . ! ? Guess I will not be buying anymore sega games. . . Cuz who knows if I get into another one they will probably just shut that server down to. . . ! ! ! !

I own a copy and I really liked it. The game suffered from some poor design and had some balance issues. Because it didn't really catch on I think it will keep developers away from the genre and that seems to be a shame.

If done well I think mech combat is a great way to game. You need hand eye coordination but fast twitch skills aren't as important team work.

Oh well.

This is exactly why I've never had a problem with games like Halo & Modern Warfare using someone as the "Host" instead of running their own server's... because that way, as long as people are still playing, there will always be a way to play! Grrr...
