Actually, that's a LOT more expensive than I thought. I was thinking 10, maybe 15. This is much too close to the original price of the FULL GAME.

Yes, but didn't the expansions for Oblivion end up at 40? And for Fallout 3, 50?

I can only assume that the 40 dollar price is the console version. I'm expecting the PC version to be 30. On top of that I'll just wait until steam gives it a discount.

Still on my first playthrough of DA:O (Deep Roads be cursed!) but I can't wait for this. Between finishing DA:O, replaying ME, starting ME2, and somewhere in there getting the DA:O DLC done, Bioware is taking over my gaming life.

What's odd is that I've spent most of my Bioware experience managing equipment and inventory, something that though I find entertaining, I dread doing every twenty minutes.

Perhaps what makes DA:O and ME so great is that I can't help wanting to keep playing even when I know 70% of the play time will be a complete chore. More amazing still is my desire to relive it multiple times.

Wow. You hit it spot on. I love me the crap out of ME and DA:O, with an urge to replay multiple times even though thinking about the gear thing alone sickens me.

Speaking of which... I have to get back to beating ME again on PC so I'm ready for ME2...

thats way too much money for an expansion. i mean why dont they just release another game if its going to be that much. heck id rather buy mass effect 2 than pay $40 for an expansion.

I'm pretty confident this is going to end up bundled into a GOTY edition, and I've got a big backlog of games to go through already, so I expect I'll wait to the end of this year before getting into Dragon Age.

"heck id rather buy mass effect 2 than pay $40 for an expansion."

You make it sound like buying ME2 is a punishment rather than the sweetest gift you can give yourself.

Besides, Bungie got away with charging $60 for an expansion and I guarantee this will have more hours in it and replayability than ODST.

I'm tired of this expansion talk. It's Dragon Age, it's probably going to offer a lot of replayability. Don't forget that DA:O length.

True, Bungie was able to sell ODST which was simply firefight, 5 hour campaign, and the same multiplayer from Halo 3 for $60. At least this will actually have content.

Damn, I guess I'm wrong then. lol

I always thought the GTA4 stuff was just DLC, but I never played it so I wouldn't know. And I bought the GOTY of Oblivion, so I got Shivering Isles with it.

But, I'm just remembering the NWN and NWN2 expansions, and Warcraft/WoW expansions, Diablo expansions, GW Expansions, etc.

I'm going to agree that the price is too high for me to grab it. Though I may be more interested after I actually play through the game. (I was distracted by AC2) Also, enough with the ODST is an expansion hate. The game play was different not playing as a Spartan. Maybe not a whole new experience, but different. Here we are talking about an actual expansion - not a new game experience and that isn't worth 40 to me this soon.

I don't know, the description makes it sound pretty long.

Game came out in November, which means it was done in late October. Plus, BioWare does have multiple teams.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it'll be between 10 and 20 hours depending on how long you tend to spend in menus.

if its twenty pounds then i will buy it, wont be happy if its any more.

"Five new friends"

does that mean FIVE new characters!! i have to assume it does since this isnt anything to do with the original story

Points? It's a RETAIL expansion. You buy it in a store. Unless, you pay with spacebucks at your local GAME or HMV.

Hopefully all 5 of the new companions will be mages, since your survival in Nightmare difficulty goes up exponentially depending on the number of mages in your party (and there are only 2 companion mages in the original as opposed to the 6 warriors).

It wouldn't surprise me, unfortunately, if all 5 were warriors. I guess we'll be stuck with Wynne in every party again.

Amaranthine is the area given to the Grey Wardens after the defeat of the Arch Demon. Looks like your going to have to go in and clear out the squatters.

If I remember, KotOR capped out at twenty-something, but you had to work hard to hit it!

To be honest, I didn't enjoy Dragon Age as much as the Baldur's Gate games (and maybe even SWKOTR). :(

I finished one Origin story but I can't be bothered to sit through all the same dialogue again.

Actually, Brad, there is a level cap, and it is 25.

You can level glitch your character while speaking with Duncan at Ostagar, and your levels stop at 25, and you will be at 25 throughout the rest of the game.

You can also get exp by donating supplies to the allied crates in your in camp. I went to the forest where the Dalish are and filled my inventory with elfroot stacks and then donated them all to get to lvl25 before i went to the final battle.

I only gameflyed this back in November, but it was a very enjoyable game despite the combat so I'll probably cave and buy it when the GOTY edition comes. I'm glad Bioware's supporting their games more now, and I'm really looking forward to see what they have in store for ME2.

To all people saying 40 is too much for an expansion, that was common practice on PC games for ages. Now, I'm not sure if this is going to be a huge, mega expansion with the blizzard, interplay, etc. games of old, or more of an over priced quickie.

Either way, it does seem quick, but considering how long the game was in some kind of development, I am assuming it is possible for the expansion to be over 20 hours. Who knows?

I'll get it most likely though, seeing as it was my goty. Darn you world!
