Nah, he played with the developers, and they only played because they wanted it to look like there are people that actually cared about the game.

No, I'd guess the developers laugh their butts off thinking about TH Ride.

Is hating this game the new fad? Like hating on Sonic?

Have most of you even tried out the game?

I haven't, so I am staying neutral.

@Jerry
most likely yeah. Its probably the same as those "Game with Fame" things. They create a temp account for that to make you feel special, they get paid, and no one knows their real tag.

@Anemos
Hating on sonic isn't, and never was a "fad". In general most every new game they have made for the series has been severely lacking in various areas. The last great game they've made is the Adventure series (and i guess the subsequent remakes for the GC). Sonic on the 360 was a pile of crap with a bad ending, Sonic Unleash has been the closest to good, but the Werehog stages did it in.
As for the Tony Hawk game? They've been going downhill since THUG, the peripheral itself is junk, and some of us HAVE played the game, thankfully not all of those people bought it.

He REALLY needs to stfu bout RIDE, hang on to the peripheral, and just come out with Tony Hawk's Better Than RIDE game later on in '10 or '11 utilizing the same board, of course.

You already have the hardware. Just take the budget and apply it 100% to the software and be done with it.

Do you really think someone would hold onto that for an entire year without going "well, gamestop will give me $20. That's something". Sometimes, you just gotta cut your losses man.

Combine the fact that a friends list can only have 100 people on it and you need to play this game to be on Tony's friends list means that he will have plenty of room to add his real life friends that won't play his game, either.

Isn't this kinda blase, considering the fact that on Xbox LIVE, an account can only store 100 friends on the friendlist?

Unless Tony Hawk can convince the Halo 2 players to quit playing multiplayer death matches altogether, I see this as an act of desperation!

Tony, think of all the hearts you'll break, when these so called friends you're going to be playing against wants to be friended... Poor sods!

I'm not sure what is sadder:

a.) Tony Hawk's PR people making up this plan, or
b.) Gamers actually thinking he wants to play with any of the common people

I am more curious about how sincere Hawk is with his promotion of how good of a game he believes Ride is. Did the checks from Tmobile and Activision not clear yet?

Is that a screenshot from the Wii? Oh, that's right, by bad, it just looks that horrible. I'm sorry this game is total trash and a low-point for a series that has been low for many years now. Glad to see people finally stopped buying the trash. It doesn't help that the board is a very bad idea as well... Not having a real board, hell 720 did it better DECADES ago, just that board.

From a 2007 interview with Tony Hawk:

http://www.gamepro.com/article/news/112289/gp-q-a-tony-hawk-talks-skate-proving-ground/

Game Pro: Comparing Skate with THPS, the producer of EA's Skate Jay Balmer said, "Tony Hawk games look like skateboarding, but they don't feel like skateboarding." Do you agree?

Tony Hawk: Not at all because our game is as real as you want to make it. You find that pro skaters play it (Tony Hawk games) exactly how they skate; me included... you can always find me on the vert ramps. Part of the fun of video games is being able to perform things that you could never do in real life, so you also have options in our game to go as big as you've always dreamed. *****If our video game were as hard as real skating, I don't think we would have ever been able to make a sequel to the original or be working on our 9th game.*****

Pretty prophetic eh Tony? Except that using that POS sensor board is harder than real life skating and ... Skate It doesn't have you doing a nose grind in the tail of a brontosaurus. Skate It took the genre forward and Tony Hawk is STILL stuck in the past. Instead of just making a Tony Hawk game that was actually realistic they throw in this retarded board no one wants to use and in doing so remove freedom of movement (except in a straight line) from the players hands. Just kill the board and forget it ever existed. Do a reboot of Tony Hawk based on realism ... with a regular controller.

Tony Hawk is soooo last decennium. He should retire from skateboarding and never make a skateboarding game ever again.

If I have to balance on a wheelless plastic skateboard in the middle of my living room, with all sorts of glass objects around me, I think I'd rather take my chances on the street with a real skateboard.

Myself and two other guys played with him in the session in question for about 45 minutes.

He said "tonyineygpt" is not his primary gamertag, which is why he is comfortable giving it out.

He was cordial and totally friendly, I sincerely doubt that it was a PR move. Apparently he has the week off and was interested in playing with the community.

He was frustrated by some of the online game's shortcomings, such as not scoring a combo in process if it was not landed before time ran out.

As a skateboarder of 11 years myself, I was relieved to hear him say the game was not built for skateboarders, but rather for those who don't have the means or ability to skate themselves.

Tony also tried inviting the lead designer into our party but he was without microphone.

We also learned early in development the board was given the ability to read actual flips, so that really kickflipping the peripheral would result in kickflip on screen. Unfortunately, Tony stated, this would have probably resulted in many lawsuits.

I am not defending Tony Hawk: Ride. I still think it is a frustrating, unresponsive mess, but Tony Hawk is a cool dude and I was excited to chat and "skate" with one of my heroes.

tl;dr I "Rided" with Tony Hawk. He was really cool. The game is still totally broken.

Friendship!!... Friendship?!
Now the MUST put tony hawk in the next Mortal Kombat game. He now has a frienship move, and I can also think of a fatality finishing move involving a plastic skateboard and forcing someone to play RIDE until he passes away in agony.
