!@ Maverick LMFAO SO HARD. At the rate that these things are going, I wouldn't doubt it. =(

Sadly, I convinced 2 of my friends to buy this game along with me because we were all told of the miraculous DLC stuff and now this steaming pile explodes all over our "investments". You best believe I was pissed, but I really do hope that this is a momentary issue (for the 360). My thoughts are that either A. They had to get the OK from Disney to continue adding characters because to my knowledge, up to 5 characters were supposed to be up for DLC every 3 months or so, B. They were making space for the new characters that they wanted to add, or C. just plain pulled the plug on the project. I really, REALLY hope it's A because B makes no sense for the Xbox, since I heard that only the PSN was having issues with Activision. Dunno, but all I know is that I still have my receipt from Monday and I plan on returning/ exchanging that bitch for the "Platinum Hits" version within 26 days if that were the case.

Know what else? It PISSES ME OFF every time I pop that shiznit in and it says "searching for downloadable content" or whatnot. .....Dumbass antagonizing piece of shi- Anywho, I really hope that they make characters free or some shit if they DO decide to get their heads out of their asses and make the right choice.... Though I highly doubt it. Gotta love idiots who crave money and don't do shit for the people who helped them get there, right Nintendo? Oops, *Activision* My bad.

What the balls is this? A time limit is one thing, but not telling potential customers that the time limit existed is another thing altogether.

Personally, I was really looking forward to grabbing the DLC in a few months when I can pick up the actual game on the cheap. Sucks for you Activision - I no longer intend to purchase your game. No Carnage, No deal.

is there anyway to find out if this was actually made clear in the DLC's information area? if not, that's a pretty sleazy tactic....eh whatever, i don't even own the game.

This is BS. I looked for the DLC before the year was over and it was nowhere to be found. Thank goodness it wasn't for me. I'd be pissed. Sorry guys. I hope they change their stance and soon. Good Luck!

It's official, Modern Warfare 2 is the last (and actually, only) Activision game for me. Even EAs turning off of old game servers is less jackass than this.

My best guess is that Activision lost the Marvel license at the end of 2009. That's the only logical explaination on why they would pull DLC since once it's made and it's up it can only make you money.

Just did a little quick digging and found an IGN article from August 2009 asking if, due to the Disney/Marvel merger, Activision would lose the Marvel license prematurely. The original license was through 2017, however, as we've seen in recent years the laws around licensing is fairly vague. It is very possible that Disney pulled back it's Marvel Video Game license now that the Marvel deal is complete. Any ideas, Joystick staff?

I found the game to be seriously lacking compared to the first, but even I'm pissed at this.

Will Activision one day also be able to get away with MURDER, too?

Oh well.. guess they lost out on me buying this "Content" later this month. Kinda shady though not to put a lil "notice: content will be pulled on..." note onto the description would of provided a small last few days surge in sales. Great move Activision did you hire a few people from the Auto Industry lately?

DLC for the Activision-published Wolverine game is still available in the PS store, so that doesn't sound very likely.

The movie game rights may be seperate from the solely comic based rights. For example, Sega has the rights to make the Iron Man, Thor and Captain America games based off the movies dispite Activision having the exclusive rights on the Marvel comic universe characters. Again, I'm not certain.

Unless I overlooked something, I didn't see the MUA2 DLC on LIVE either. I'm not sure what happened, but it looks like the online content for the game was pulled not just for the PSN but Live as well.

I'm sorry, but this game sucked compared to Borderlands. That's where the real co-op action is.

I'm so glad I ditched my copy on Ebay already.

It's jacked up that they removed the DLC from the PSN store though, for all those people who wanted to grab Psylocke and all.

limited edition DLC is nothing new... several Little Big Planet costumes only come around for a short span of time per year, *however* my issue is not announcing the DLC as "Limited Time". If they had to navigate Activision PR just to find out information that should have been presented in the DLC tagline, that shows a total lack and failing on the part of Activision.

Well, this really sucks. I bought both sets of my nieces and nephews Marvel UA 2 for Christmas, and a copy for my g/f. I had already bought all the DLC, but, by the time we all got to our homes after the holidays, the DLC was gone. So now, I can not play with any of them, as they removed the free update packs.

So basically if someone bought this DLC and for whatever reason needed to redownload it again, they're shit out of luck?

I wonder if this has got to do something with licensing fineprint between EA and Marvel, because it sounds too messed up to be a planned business strategy.

Glad I passed on buying UMA2 but its a dumb move to remove it without any notice of it being limited time offer. I can see free DLC being limited time offer or DLC that goes on sale being limited time to purchase before it goes back to regular price. Wonder if its because Marvel was bought out by Disney? I know Sega has the rights for movies based on Marvel characters and Activision has the rights for Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

I wish I would have known it was limited time only. I was actually planning on buying this tomorrow. I guess Activision will have to do without my money, just as I will have to do without extra characters.

The DLC disappeared over a week before December 31 and though people yelled and screamed at herohq.com and tried to contact various companies, we couldn't get an official answer out of anybody. I think it's completely ridiculous to remove content that was already finished and could just sit there and make more money. I hope someone pays attention to the pages and pages of forum threads and comments like on this article to see that they messed up.

(P.S. I purchased the game in December but didn't buy the DLC in time, so I missed it)

In the original press release for the DLC it was indicated that the offer would expire on December 31st. I agree with the theory that it is due to a transference of character rights, because the website for the game was moved from activision to marvel.com on December 31st as well, and the online game ended.

Limited time DLC is crap, but what most people don't realize and this article glosses over is the fact that the DLC was removed over a WEEK BEFORE December 31st. There were a whole lot of pissed off people who bought this for Christmas and then realized their announced DLC had already disappeared, they never even got a chance at it.

The compatibility downloads are also gone from the store now further segmenting the crowd that plays it. My friend's brother-in-law bought the game after Christmas and now cannot play with us unless we delete the game data and go from there.

If you previously downloaded the compatibility pack, it is still available on your recent downloads list. I wouldn't be surprised if the multiplayer is going away as well, I've been having an increasingly difficult time getting matched up on there. I'm not sure if its because I don't have the right compatibility packs or what.

I think that this licensing issue with the sale of Marvel has totally screwed up all of the post support of the product through the website, DLC, and potentially multiplayer as well. Added to the fact that MUA2 lacked a lot of the polish and finish of MUA, I'm selling this one off used. I'm tired of messing with it.

History of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 PS3 DLC Screwups:

1. Juggernaut was exclusive Gamestop DLC with preorder. It was quickly discovered that Juggernaut could be unlocked by a simple hack from the password registration site, and the limited number of passwords were snapped up by anyone and everyone. Some people who didn't buy from Gamestop got multiple codes. Some people who did preorder didn't get Juggernaut when the codes ran out.

2. Juggernaut was accidentally placed on the PSN store for download for $1.99 one week after the game was released. It was removed within a few days.

3. Activision's Press Release stated that all DLC would be available on the PSN Store through the end of December. DLC was actually removed over a week before December 31st. PSN Store staff confirmed that the DLC was removed early at Activision's request.

4. Activision responds to requests for missing DLC filed before December 31st in early January that DLC exclusive offer ended December 31st. There is no reference or response to the fact that DLC was removed before this date. It will not be available in the future.

Yeah, something tells me that Ultimate Alliance 3 won't have much in the ways of fan support. Which is a great thing at this point.

Way back when, I bought the DLC for Ultimate Alliance 1 on the 360. Three months ago I RRoD'ed and had to grab a new system. Loaded up Ultimate Alliance 1, went to go grab the DLC (that I paid full price for, on release day) to find that it was vanished.

That's mega cruel. I already PAID for this stuff on the day it released and I can't use it. Such a middle finger to the consumer.
