well, at least an emmy...

certainly higher than a grammy or people's choice award, but I think "oscar" is pushing it...

I completely agree. I was so sure that he was gonna win it. Nothing against Jack Black but come on? Hasn't anybody seen Batman the Animated Series? I think it's cause people know his roles but don't readily associate his name with his work (especially star wars). I explained who Mark Hamil was to a guy and he was so surprised about it.

Batman was a fun game, but what really immersed the player in the experience was the constant barrage of the Joker. Jack Black made a fun game sorta and had a few one liners but the real star of his game was the metal soundtrack and voice-over-guy IMO. A travesty in voting but we know the real winner and that's all that matters ;)

It was a toss-up between Hamill and Nolan North as Drake, but either way Jack Black should have been 3rd at best.

Hamill was so good in AA, I had no idea it was him until I looked up the voice credits on IMDB. He disappeared into that role, and completely owned it.

God forbid any of these companies would want to pay. I don't get it either, I cringe sometimes when games or rides use different voice actors.

Prime example: When the Pokemon TV show changed all of their voices :|

Haha yes I assumed I would be made fun of, I was just bored at home one day and was channel-surfing. Saw Pokemon was on and thought I'd nostalgia a bit, only to be horrified. Imagine Homer Simpson being voiced by someone doing a poor Homer Simpson impression. After years of growing up with it and it being embedded in my childhood, it's just one of the things I was used to.

I don't NEED to imagine HOMER having other voice... here in brazil we had this Homer since season 1, he was like: THE HOMER (Better than american homer IMO) it was so good to watch the simpsons, then came FOX and after the Movie (witch he only VO the trailer) the Homer voice was GONE! WTH! That homer wich i grew up listening to was gone forever, and now there was this stupid cheap imitation of the original voice...

And that because FOX didn't want to give him a raise, and he doesn't get 1/100 of what the American HOMER gets for doing VO....

God it would be great to see a flash game made and Mark Hamill do the Trickster in the game. Just like his role as the joker when ever I see or read the trickster talking in comic books I hear Mark's voice as him. Though it was kinda strange hearing his voice when the trickster was dead and being dragged handcuffed with the piper during countdown.

Mark Hamill did such a great job on Arkham Asylum. It's a shame I can't say the same for the chick that did the voice of Harley Quinn.

Also, thank you Joystiq for reminding me that the great Mark Hamill was in that horrible god damn movie: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

I thought Harley was great. Maybe you find her annoying or something but she was exactly the same character as she was in the animated series, which is as it should be in my opinion.

Taco,

1) Like mentioned, it's the same lady who voiced Harley on the cartoon. I thought she did an awesome job and wouldn't of cast it any other way. Don't go hatin'.

2) Don't you EVER say an unkind word about Jay and Silent Bob. Me and Zappa modeled our whole fuckin' lives around Jay and Silent Bob. I'm a smoooth pimp who loooooooves the pussy, and Caramel here's my black square servant. WHAT!

I am a huge fan of the Batman Animated series and I actually own entire series on DVD (even the crappy final season that was poorly fused with Superman, blah).

I know it's the same girl and I still say that her acting is way off. She's got the voice down, but it sounds very poorly acted. She sound's overly vacuous or semi-retarded or something. Everyone else was PERFECT, but whenever I heard Harley Quinn speak I honestly cringed.

There is a difference people, watch the old series and you will see I'M NOT CRAZY!

Hamill was awesome in Wing Commander. Back when stars wouldn't give a damn about video games he put himself out there. And as the Joker, you'd never guess it was "Luke Skywalker" on the other side. Even know that I can't peg the two together.

It sucks when you realize that our idolization of him and the role he played might have cost him roles in other movies but when we're lying in our graves, names like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Sir Alex Guiness and Billy Dee Williams will be remembered long afterwords.

The thing I love about mark hamill is the fact while he is luke skywalker and a huge star by that he also stayed grounded. I mean Even in not so big movies to the public but nerd fans loved I enjoyed to see him in. The Guyver, Sleepwalkers (be it a small part), Time Runner. He was in multiple fields such as anime, cartoons, and video games.

He just stood out as an actor who was special in my book.

Yes Mark Hamill was pretty great in Arkham Asylum

Imagine if he took over for Heath Ledger and starred as the Joker in the next Batman..

...........

Actually that would be pretty weird :0

Another anecdote about how cool Mark Hamill is... when I was 13 or 14 I wrote him a letter and sent him a glossy photo of Luke Skywalker asking for an autograph and telling him how cool it was that he was in so many video games. (This was back around when Full Throttle and Wing Commander were big) I got his address out of a games mag, all back in the day before the internet!

I was about 21 when I got a letter back to my parents house including the signed glossy with a personalised message... it actually took me a while to remember I had written the letter 5 or 6 years previously. I just imagined him sitting there with literally thousands of fan letters that he eventually gets around to replying to. He didn't have to, and he made no money out of it but it was truly awesome for me! (big Star Wars and VG game fan obviously)

Well, first off, what's the ratio of Star Wars games with voice acting compared to those numbers released?

Out of those games with voice acting, how many star Luke Skywalker in a speaking role?

Maybe people didn't want to use Mark Hamill because he's Luke Skywalker and he can't be redefined. Also, how many times has Harrison Ford voiced acted in a Star Wars game? James Earl Jones? Carrie Fischer?

I'm sure everyone (including Joystiq bloggers) is thinking, "But he's in video games, they're not". Doesn't matter. He's Luke Skywalker and until there's a Star Wars game that requires the voice acting of Luke Skywalker, you won't hear Mark Hamill.

Of course, some nerd at a video game company is probably gonna catch wind of this interview now and say, "We NEED Mark Hamill to voice our Star Wars game!"
