Odd that the PSP has that kind of ratio. You'd think the DS appealed more to girls...unless they wanted it for the media functions?

I don't believe that statistic applies to the entire population.

However, some slight anecdotal evidence... I know three people that own a PSP and actually play it. I'm sure there are plenty more PSP owners that I know, and haven't seen them play...

But of the people I know, two of them are female, one of them is male (me!)

I more or less only bought it for SMT: Persona, though I'm also enjoying Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero and Brave Story.

In Nielsen's target market area. I've yet to see a girl even talking about PSP, let alone carrying their own. And I'm surrounded by a geeky crowd.

When all the tv stations said Nielsen has become obsolete and can't produce real data, I said they were crying wolf, but this sounds inexplicable...

I married one! :)

...well, technically, she was mildly interested and open minded about vidja games when we first met and by the time we got married, she had witnessed final fantasy X, LoZ: Ocarina of Time, and 007: Goldeneye and had become a relatively hardcore gamer/appreciator.

Wii at #3 with 19%? Wait I thought the Wii was: a)-a passing fad, b)-a dust collector, c)-something people play Wii sports on once a month with friends then ignore for 29 more days, or d)-all of the above

You maybe begin the test now, eyes on your own paper

Let's see the Wii outsells the 360 and the PS3 and gets less playtime........hmmmm yeah, I don't know how people would think that the Wii isn't a gamers console?

Let's dig deeper. Let's skip math as it's already failed the Wii. Let's think to our ACT's. Let's go with association

Dragon Age on the PS3/360/PC = to what on the Wii?
Bioshock on the PS3/360/PC = to what on the Wii?
Modern Warfare 1 or 2 on the PS3/360/PC = to what on the Wii?

Let's think of any killer, not to miss games available on a real console or PC, and ask, "where's the Wii equivilent?" Oh yeah it's not there.
The whole "Wii sucks" attitude doesn' come from envy it comes from dismay. There's no good games outside of Nintendo exclusives that are even all that great IMO. Mario Kart sucks balls. My friends and I pretend it doesn't even exist and play Mario 64. At least it had decent multiplayer that took some skill into accout.

Super Mario Galaxy = What on PS360/PC?
Wii Sports Resort = What on PS360/PC?
Mario Kart Wii (whether you like it or not, it's a very popular game) = What on PS360/PC?

It works both ways. They have different strengths. If you're still looking at the Wii and wondering why it's not exactly the same as the HD twins, not only are you missing the point, but you've been out of touch for the past three years.

It's simple. The Wii has roughly 20-30 million more people, so naturally any % based stats are going to be skewed simply because there's more people. It doesn't mean that everyone's playing their Wii 5+ hours a day, it just means all those extra people are skewing the stats up.

I call bullsh- I mean, shenanigans as well. The day something as... well, not quite so casual user friendly as the PSP becomes more popular with women over the DS IS the day that hell freezes over...

And I'm talking more like the 15/16-18+ age range, those tweenagers buying the Hannah Montana combo pack don't count. They're little girls baited in by a pop idol they worship, not consumers buying a portable device for its extended library of games as well as its multimedia functionality. Nielsen's can go take a hike if they think that those actually count as 'users'.

And just to clarify, I'm not hating on a PSP as I'm just saying those incredibly odd statistics seem like crap. I own a PSP and I love it. Music, pictures, games AND an online store with a bigger catalog? DSi still has a way to go to catch up and right now, PSP's got it beat out by just a bit purely for that online catalog. I just wish nintendo would jump on the 'digital download of retail games' bandwagon like Microsoft and Sony already. ~_~

So apparently, most of the PS3 community is "Gay" because you say so?. They should of mentioned that our communities and online experiences are being ruined by immature jerks like yourself who do nothing but talk trash and cry like a child when things aren't going right for you.
