Rock Band 2 patched on PS3 to make way for Rock Band Network

Harmonix continues to show that it cares about Rock Band 2 fans with more than just weekly DLC. The developer has announced a patch for the PS3 version of the game that adds support for the upcoming Rock Band Network Store -- the interface for selling songs added to Rock Band by fans, musicians and record labels through the new Rock Band Network. If you were lamenting your current inability to purchase songs made by some dude, now you can take heart!

The update also adds the "much more robust handling of chord hammer-ons and pull-offs" found in The Beatles: Rock Band, support for SingStar wireless microphones, support for velocity sensitivity with Ion Drum Rocker drums, and the ability to sort songs in Quickplay by the number of stars you've earned on each song.

The update will be available this Thursday.

Wasn't this patch released on Xbox 360 a while ago?

Probably, but this isn't about that, it's about the PS3 patch coming....

you're lol that a patch for a new game feature that you can't access yet either is just coming to the PS3?

i thought they told us that PS3 owners would not be getting the patch for a while after the 360. Same article said that they didn't even know if they wanted to bring the Rock Band Network to the PS3 at all and if they were then it would be a condensed version of "Top Picks"

anyways, im glad they brought it over to the PS3 at all. Who cares how late, its not even up and running yet

I've been waiting a while for it to come out, mainly for The Beatles: Rock Band Hammer-on/Pull-off system.

The screenshot is of "Ace of Spades". Creepy how I know, but whatever.

Anyway, this is awesome. Love how some of my favorite games aren't left to collect dust by their developers.

It probably had something to do with the lyrics at the top, no?

No, it's not just because of the lyrics. It is because Ace of Spades has been in ever rhythm game ever made. Hell, it's even in DJ Hero.

Really, even if he was blind, his guess would have been a 1 in 4 chance.

Ace of spades is a pretty well known song, I'd be surprised if you didnt know the opening lyrics, everyone loves that song.

it is a well known song, and a damn good one, but my favourite Motörhead song is "Deaf Forever."

When you know which song is in a screenshot based on the note tracks alone then youll have something to brag about (or cry about because thats sad).

New Wave couldn't kill the metal, but something tells me that random pseudo-rockers are going to give it one hell of a shot....never-the-less (or all-the-more, take your pick) it's about time this shows face on PS3...

WTH? All I'm saying is that if they chart their songs anything like GH that they have a future working for Activision...thats supposed to be a good thing...ya know...money.....tough crowd...

The bands that are coming to Rock Band Network are AWESOME! Honestly, I can't wait for this. I'm going to go bankrupt. Amberian Dawn and The Project Hate FTW!

thats a nice update! way to go harmonix. and very excited to see some RBN fruits...

This update broke my Rock Band. I start up the game, it notifies me there is a 1.02 patch available, and when I accept, it says "Please Wait..." and then restarts my ps3. RB2 is totally unusable for me now as a result.
