there's not much weapon detail. i couldn't tell that was a UMP until it said so on the screen. hope they make the guns more detailed cause it looks like it could be fun.

Honestly, if this game lives up to my expectations of being a solid, extremely fun multiplayer game with vehicles, large maps, and interesting game modes...then I won't give a crap if I can read the serial number off my gun.

I can understand you wanting decent graphics, but this game seems fine to me, it's the intense large multiplayer battles that are drawing me to the game.

If it's anything like the first BC, this game will be a blast. I agree with the amount of deaths you'll rack up, but to me it's one of those games where it doesn't really matter to much and I just have fun with. And once in a while, when you play with a tight group, this game really shines and using your brain and really trying to come up with tactics actually pays off. Not many games are like that.

Really? Did you watch it in bad quality or something? The textures aren't that great in that vid but you can easily make out what weapon it is. Full game should look better graphically.

i'm not asking for life-like guns, i'm just asking for models that look somewhat decent. if you see a gun, you should be able to tell it's a certain gun without needing the game to tell you it's that gun.

Uhh you should learn your guns then? I can tell just fine what each gun is without seeing the name pop up.

Fair enough, I understand that, you have to admit though that the enviroments look fairly detailed and creates an entertaining enviroment nice and sunny, with explosions and gunfire in the distance.

space, i know my guns. trust me. especially the UMP. i still couldn't tell after i watched the vid again. it's a good looking game (the environments are fantastic) but that doesn't change the fact that that UMP didn't look that much like a UMP to me. oh well. i'll wait for the release to judge it.

Maybe I'm just defending it too zealously, but it might have been difficult to tell because of the scope attachment. It sort of gave it away when he reloaded though. I don't think I've seen other guns (in video games at least) with the same type of clip.

Of course I'm no gun expert.

i didn't really notice the reloading, because that was when UMP popped up on the screen, and i was focused on that, but you do have a point. but still, the UMP's clip isn't the only defining feature of it.

The scope attachment through me off for a bit but I could tell it was an UMP once it was reloading.

BC2 isn't nearly as bad as MAG in the "Omg where did those bullets just come from" category. An hour of MAG and I was done. I'd spawn, run for ten minutes, and then I'd get sniped from a million miles away. Respawn, rinse, and repeat.

You guys act like the situation is impossible, I've logged in about 40 hours into BF:1943, and plenty of stuff like that has happened. Maybe not as organized, but the whole, "bullets whizzing by, a teammate rescuing you just in the last minute" happen lots of times. It's lucky most of the times, but incredibally awesome as well.

This game is SOOO much better than COD MW2 and MAG combined. The best thing is there really is no camping (unlike campfest COD and MAG) a b*tch is hiding behind a wall just blow it the f*ck up.

yeah, if my experiences from the beta mean anything, there's WAY more camping than in the other 2 games. MW2 has a decent number of campers, and i haven't played enough of the MAG beta to judge it, but this game's beta was chock full of campers.

It will be great on the PC due to its player limit but on the beta i was so frustrated to waste 10 minutes (literally) running (because everyone hogs the tanks) to die to a noobtuber to then have to wait to respawn to do it all again. I love the sound but shit, 10v10 on these HUGE ass maps is outrageous.

"no camping? then why the hell are people dying miles away from the battle by some guy in the corner with a sniper rifle?"

Uhhh maybe because that's what a sniper is supposed to do? Ya know... snipe? In BC2 you do snipe from long distances, it's huge maps after all. But you'll get tracked down quickly if you don't change spots every now and then.

actually, i have played the beta, and he's right. it really isn't anywhere near that intense. from my experiences, you spawn, try and jump in the tank, but some douche jumps in right before you and drives off alone, which forces you to run for five minutes to get to the battle, and right when you get there a sniper/camper kills you. rinse and repeat. i played 3 matches, all went like that. maybe i just hit a series of bad matches, but they all completely sucked.

Ha, you followed me! But back on topic, yes, this game is a blast when your with buddies, and things like this do happen, and when they do, it's usually the sorta thing you just say, "Wow, that just f****** happened"

Then the next day you tell your buddies your "war story" with dramatic hand gestures.

Perhaps that's just me.

A lot of "OMGWTFBBQ" moments happen to me in BF also. One time I was playing against a friend in 1943 and he was piloting a plane. I was in a tank capturing a flag. I see a plane flying straight towards me, lead it a little bit, shoot with the main cannon and bam! Take out the plane in mid-air. Then I see it was my friend and send him a message saying how insane it was.

Ha, I had one time where an enemy pilot had been following me along one of the hills on Guadalcanal, he shot at me, and decided to give up, so he bailed out of his plane from about 100 yards in the air, so naturally I pulled out my pistol (I was a scout) to get ready to defend my self. As I watch him plummet, I wait for him to pull his chute. He never does. In a matter of 6 seconds or less...he falls and his body goes ragdoll-limp as it hits the floor, it just drops to the ground. I feld bad for the guy...poor soul.

oh, once i remember in bf:1943, when i was running along a road, i notice a noise from my right, I looked right wondering what the noise was and notice alot of trees were falling down, i was like okay? then ... a split second later i saw bullets flying through where the trees where and a plane emerge out of it. I was like shhhiiittttt, i couched down and it flew passed my head, so close. It was really a 'OMGWTFBBQ' moment, i couldn't believe it, I turned around and the plane was nowhere to be seen.

Also once when I was piloting a plane, I was on one side of a map and I randomly started shooting at an enemy checkpoint all the way on the other side. Then it showed up that I actually killed someone with a head shot, i was like wow. I wonder what the other person thought.

They said info on the PC beta is coming soon, keep an eye on the BF blog. And when anything is probably announced it'll be on Joystiq too, but it may be too late if you wait for Joystiq for info. This vid is like a week old.

BF Blog: http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/Default.aspx##

PC info should come VERY soon. They keep mentioning it in the twitter, probably this weekend. :)

your reasons on why you wont own a PS3 are the most retarded points i have heard from any kind of person.

first off, the controller is the same god damn controller they used since the PSX, they re used it for the PS2, im sure you own one right? because if you dont then simply GTFO of a gaming blog.

Second, that "forced" format happens to be the standard in High Defenition, the only way you should not care about that is if you own a old SDTV. Its 300 bucks for a fucking bluray player.

i'm not even going to go into the games that the PS3 provides, because if a controller and a HD disc format is a BAD thing to you. Then games prob mean nothing.

I don't see why you're jumping on him about the controller, as shown by http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/15/ben-hecks-ps360-sixaxis-stuffed-xbox-controller/ , it's quite clear that many people prefer the 360 controller over the Dualshock. The Dualshock isn't bad per se, I just appreciate the 360's placement of the analog stick.

You certainly have no business telling him to GTFO simply because he didn't own a PS2. I didn't own one, I was a kid when it came out, and thus fucking poor, so I could only afford one console.

Though I don't see how Sony's "forcing" down a format would move you away from purchasing it, as the PS3 is basically acting as the cheapest Blu-Ray player (well, the one with the most "value" at least) on the market. Still, there's no reason to attack him.

I'd actually argue that MW2 or even COD4's matchmaking systems are far ahead of Halo 3. They get your right into the game and when you're done you have time to back out, add new people, but it never kicks you back to the menu and it always puts you right back into the action. Honestly I think it's the best matchmaking system around.

And yea, the Duelshock 3 is my biggest complaint about the PS3. I realize a lot of people have gotten used to it over the last 15 years but every other console maker has improved their designs over the years making the controller more comfortable and designed with new games in mind. The dualshock was originally designed without analog sticks at all, and they were later thrown on as an extra in a time when hardly any games used them. Now that analog sticks are the primary way you control the game rather than the d-pad, the controller design should change along with the game design. I also find it to be the most uncomfortable controller of any in the last couple generations, and I was looking forward to the boomerang controller because at least it would be more comfortable, even if it didn't fix the analog sticks.
