Sweet.

Although I kinda wish they choose different characters cause I'm tired of getting my ass kicked by shotos.

Can anyone attest to the quality of these arcade sticks?

Based on the Tournament Edition, they are arguably the best prefab sticks on the market. Factoring your hard-on for HORI or your disdain for Mad Catz of course.

Cap'n,

Ive got the SF arcade stick.
It's good.
Sturdy.
No probs.

n.b. I don't use it often. But when I did
I couldn't fault it. The only thing I didn't like is
that it's a "square gate" arrangement. I don't
like that. Much prefer the arcade sticks that don't click.
But that's just personal choice.

I use the Mad Catz fightpad all of the time for
the game and it's really good. Well worth getting.

It's really easy (and cheap) to replace the square gate with an octo. I also hate square gates.

So once these hit the market, I should visit eBay and get the SFIV ones being sold for a pittance, right?

That's correct, in theory.
What I really want to know is when
should I trade in SF4?

Should I wait for a trade-in deal or what?

Well, having the SFIV disc is supposed to unlock extras for SSFIV.

But there might be a deal.

Bastards, by the time I do sell SF4 it'll be worthless.
There'll be hundreds of trade ins in the shops
cluttering up the shelves. Oh well. it can get stored
next to my home alone cartridge.

Heh, I've got a stack of bad carts too. Need to trade them in.

Still, I doubt it will be as bad as Crackdown after the Halo 3 Beta ended.

Do the community a favor and give your SFIV disc to a friend once you get SSFIV.

all one of him.
Everyone else can pay like I did.

Sooooo... this seems like more of a cosmetic change than anything else. I'm not really sure what they could do to improve on the TE's hardware wise.

These sticks feel horrible and the price is grossly inflated for what you get. Grab a NubyTech and mod it. Still come out cheaper than buying one of these.

As someone who owns more than 10 arcade sticks and who frequents CTF here in NYC, I have to disagree. The MCTE is everything I've wanted in a stick. Since then, I've popped in a multi-cthulhu and have been enjoying playing it on all my various consoles.

Option 1:
Buy something made by MadCatz

Option 2: Buy this:
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Real-Arcade-Pro-EX-SE/dp/B002FKYPU4

Read Option 1 again and try to convince yourself it's a good idea. You won't be able to.

If I were into fighting games and arcade sticks, I would purchase the Mad Catz TE FightStick over any Hori FightStick.

@oldskuel:
My experience with Hori products has been about a million times better than my experience with Mad Catz, and I actually liked my SFIV fight pads. I know that the Mad Catz tournament sticks were well regarded, but is there some particular reason you hate Hori or is this just irrational fanboyism?

The TE sticks have been well received, but do you really want to support a company that 99% of the time knowingly sells garbage to consumers?

@Ravnos
I am not sure where you got the idea that I hate Hori? Just because I would choose to purchase a Mad Catz TE FightStick over any Hori FightStick does not mean in any way that I hate Hori. I don't hate any videogame company. Please don't put words into my post that are not there.

@WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com
I support any company that makes a product I like. It's up to the consumer to do a little research and due diligence before purchasing a product. I don't blame Mad Catz for making bad products that people buy. It's up to the people not to buy bad products from Mad Catz. I highly doubt that 99% of the products that Mad Catz sells are junk. If that is true, it's amazing that they are still in business. Recently Mad Catz has been changing the quality of products they sell to consumers. The TE FightStick is one example of the change in quality.

I know that it defeats the purpose but I would like one of these sticks to be wireless. Lag or not I would just like to use a wireless stick instead of a clunky Xbox 360 controller.

man i have major buyers remorse on some of the lamest hori arcade sticks, when a friend brought in the street fighter TE one.
mine was

seriously button layout sucks especially when switching in and out for people that use controllers and not enough wrist space.

the mad catz one my friends has was awesome. i would recommend for a more serious gamer

Thats because you bought the wrong hori stick. Hori's RAP line has alwasy been the quality flagship of their brand. Don't get me wrong though the TE stick is an awesome stick with its only flaw being that MadCatz has something to do with it. The only hori stick that can truely stand up to it (without modification) are the HRAP SA & SE sticks (which come with all sanwa or semitsu parts). Although I have a fully semitsu HRAP2 stick...I just bought a HRAP3: SA when it was for $89 on Amazon in november.. its still fairly cheap (for what all you're getting), check it out..

I've had mine since last april and I haven't had any complaints so far. I've bought the old SFII 15th ann. Arcade Stick, and this was EASILY a step up.

I was a little concerned about the madcatz label when I first heard about the T.E, but seeing as alot of care was put into these (read- authentic jap. arcade stick parts), there was no question what I was paying for was a cut above.

If you're at all serious about your fighters, this is a great investment.

Can they please just make these new sticks and fightpad wireless and raise the price to offset the licensing fees? That way people could still get the cheaper wired ones that are already out, but would also have a wireless option.

I'd pay $30 extra to get it wireless.

I have had such a long hatred for MadCatz stuff, I still find it hard to trust anything they make, even if it's supposed to be very high quality, like this. I still remember how garbage everything else they make is.

Well I'm glad I didn't buy into the hype of the last TE arcade stick like many others did. Those were selling for like $400 on e-bay because they were backlogged or supposedly not making them anymore. I then recently saw it on sale on Amazon for like $79.

Hn, nice. I approve of the extended palm space now that they've removed the bezel.

I do hope Mad Catz addresses the one major issue with the TE... the faulty PCBs. Their cheapo wired 360 pads have more reliable circuit boards, for some inexplicable reason.
