According to a "senior UK trade source" who allegedly spoke with CVG, the next Call of Duty game from Treyarch will be set in Vietnam and arrive at retailers this November. "It's going to be November again - just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2," the source was quoted as saying.
We heard as much back in May of last year, when Treyarch was said to be looking for "Vietnam War era tunes." Add to that the fact that Activision's Noah Heller explicitly said Treyarch would no longer be working on WWII-based Call of Duty games and you've got yourself a more reasonable sounding rumor. We've asked Activision for comment and will keep you updated as we hear more.

@ Damien
Strawberry Fields is about an actual place in Liverpool called Strawberry Fields. If there are Vietnam undertones, they are pretty well hidden.

I realize it's not from the era but Rooster by Alice in Chains would be pretty badass put to some slow-mo action.

Of course it is. This is Activision we're talking about. If you can't put a sequel out the same time every year its not worth their time.

Speaking about sequels:
I would have thought Joystiq was smart enough to know how sequels work. How is COD 7 coming out in november when COD 5 has not even been released. No, WAW is NOT COD 5.
That's not how sequels work. If the number isn't on the cover, it's not a sequel. MW2 is COD 4 1/2, WAW isn't a sequel. The next game to be released is COD 5.

Actually, Joystiq is correct in how they assigned their numbers. WaW is 5 and MW2 is 6 because neither the COD5 nor the COD6 title are taken so they are given to the 2 titles that come after COD4. Notice that MW2 is titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and not Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2. Big difference. Until Activision gives out the COD5 and COD6 titles, it is correct to assume that Joystiq's number is correct.
Also, if you want to get technical, none of these titles are sequels since sequels only pertain to TWO and not a series such as COD. In addition to that, sequels have related storylines with related characters which none of the COD games have. At best, these games are sidequels and not sequels.
So in conclusion... STFU.

Sadly, I'll probably still be playing MW2 when this comes out. Or Bioshock 2. Or Mass Effect 2. Or Red Dead Redemption. Or Mafia 2...

I am so incredibly nervous about Bioshock 2. Just reading the title gives me this sinking feeling in my stomach. I am so scared of how terrible it's going to turn out. The first one was one of my favorite games ever, but with three developers and a horrific sounding multiplayer mode.. I'm afraid it's going to ruin the single player mode as well. And THAT is what Bioshock is about, right? Oh man oh man oh man. So nervous.

It's my favorite, too, duder, I fucking love bioshock and let anyone who asks borrow it so they can enjoy it, too.
I've seen a lot of nervousness from people about it, but here's the thing for me as far as single player goes:
The developers chose to swing the pendulum all the way in the opposite direction story-wise. The new antagonist is the polar opposite of Andrew Ryan. To me that suggests they realized they couldn't try to make lightning strike twice, and they also were confident enough in themselves to explore a different creative direction while remaining thematically true to the source.
And as for multi-player: if it sucks I just won't play it, and with so many other games to choose from, it doesn't make sense for 2K to just tack it on. Yea, bouncing from devs could mean shit went wrong, but it could also mean that 2K was being proactive to protect the IP and keep it from becoming shit.
If the game sucks, I'll be one of the first to rail against it and be bitter and pissed I got duped! Would you kindly kick my ass if the game sucks?

Better have some kind of Nazi Zombies/Horde/Firefight mode.
