Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC beta dated, detailed
The PS3 community got a chance to get its hands on the multiplayer beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in November -- today, we learned that the PC community will get its chance to try out the shooter in a few short weeks. According to a recent post on the Battlefield blog, the beta for the PC version of the game will kick off January 28, and will be available until February 25. To get on board, just reserve the game at participating retailers and ... "e-Tailers."

wtf is wrong with you?? Can't people just be excited for the games they want? I equally enjoy CoD and BF series so please fuck off. Go back to 4chan.

Granger @ Jan 8th 2010 3:36PM
We know, it's BC2.
Ohhhhhh, I see what you were trying to accomplish.
Teh Tr0LL @ Jan 8th 2010 3:38PM

i know its no MW2... its better.
Teh Tr0LL @ Jan 8th 2010 3:29PM
thats for making me lol
phinnvr6 @ Jan 8th 2010 3:38PM
Oh yea way better than MW2, I played both games quite a bit, the PS3 beta for BC2 was much more unique and fun.
It's funny they are still calling the PC version a "beta" though because during that time frame there has gotta be a BC2 demo out for all platforms if its release date is March 2 and they promised a demo before hand.
Rawrmander @ Jan 8th 2010 3:44PM

they dont like the 360 because they know that everyone there are not stupid enough to play this crap instead of MW2.
Nieker @ Jan 8th 2010 3:40PM
Battlefield 1943 was a billion times more popular on xbox 360, so I think they're just trying to get the PS3 people stoked form this one... knowing the xbox 360 gamers allready are.

BFBC beta was 360 only, and this is their first PC Battlefield using Frostbite. So obviously, it's more necessary to test it on PS3 and PC.

Preordered. See ya in the beta!
DubiousCow @ Jan 8th 2010 3:35PM
I wish this were available even if you wouldn't pre-order it. I'm not too into pre-ordering games I can just buy on launch day. No need to "secure my game" from Gamestop or somewhere for an extra $5. Seems kind of pointless.
Guess I won't be able to try it out without committing to it. :(
Teh Tr0LL @ Jan 8th 2010 3:37PM
yeah there is no need to preorder this becuase its not going to be sold out anywhere it will rot on the shelves
Joshua @ Jan 8th 2010 4:12PM
@DubiousCow
It's not $5 extra... it's $5 min when you place the order, and that is applied to the cost of the game.. you can pay anywhere from $5-(total game cost) when you preorder, and pay it off in increments before it comes out... I often just preorder with $30 bux then pay it off the day before it comes out... that way, i can just walk in and snag it on the way home in like 10 seconds in the store...

You can return pre-orders at most locations for a full refund any time before or after the game launches. You are really buying 1/12 of the new game, so if you return it before you've bought/opened a new game, you're fine.
SpaceFox @ Jan 8th 2010 4:27PM
He said the guaranteed way would be to pre-order. But, there are gonna be other ways to get it also. There were a million ways to get the PS3 beta other than pre-ordering.
rRootage @ Jan 8th 2010 3:51PM
The 360 is probably close enough to the pc to not need its own beta.
It's not a demo, the point is to catch bugs and tweak balance.
Toop @ Jan 8th 2010 4:15PM
The source blog post also hints at 3D in the picture they posted, which would be damn crazy.
Hedgeson @ Jan 8th 2010 5:13PM
They show more than they hint. The picture is obviously of someone playing the game with NVidia 3D Vision Glasses. You can also see the blurring caused by the 2 points of view.
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Jan 8th 2010 4:17PM
It also says in the article that they are TRYING to make a PUBLIC beta available on Steam, sans preorder.
Cyryus @ Jan 8th 2010 4:22PM
Hey Joystiq Staff, can we please ban Teh Tr0LL?? Every single BF post he is on here being a douche bag. He is making the comments unbelievable hard to enjoy.
Teh Tr0LL @ Jan 8th 2010 4:57PM
yeah and everyone else is being a douche on the MW2 posts. If they can post hate comments on there why cant i post hate comments here?
Hedgeson @ Jan 8th 2010 5:19PM
That's not a valid reason. You hate because they hate?
Duke @ Jan 8th 2010 5:19PM
Because you post them nonstop and with no basis, simply for the attention gained in being an obnoxious prick to people.
Cyryus @ Jan 8th 2010 5:26PM
Most people aren't actually bashing MW2, they are bashing Activision for screwing around with the game, mods, and dedicated servers for the PC version, some people don't prefer CoD which is fine just like you don't like BFBC2. But look at most bashing comments, has nothing to do with IW or MW2 itself, just the publisher. And you are just spewing shit all over the place on BFBC2 for what?
alu @ Jan 8th 2010 4:28PM
can't wait.. i'll be getting this for PC.
dero93311 @ Jan 8th 2010 4:45PM
Can't believe JoyStiq left out the no modding news on this game.
Shauk @ Jan 8th 2010 4:50PM
Getting this out of the way 1st, I'm a pc gamer thru and thru, and own a ps3 for games I feel are paced well enough to enjoy from my couch. This doesn't include games that involve me being on the edge of my seat making sure I don't get my head blown off and dodging grenades.
MW2 was a disappointment, too short for singleplayer, just felt like the longest tutorial ever, artificially generated controversy hype machine, no dedicated servers on pc, I heard wonderful things about the missles. Honestly the multiplayer pundits are part of the WoW crowd as far as I can tell "ZOMG I GOT AN XP BAR!" and bam, that hamster in your head starts making a mad dash for it.
I'll take the progression system based on tactical squad based gameplay over the twitch xp grind that MW2 seems to embrace.
Destructable environments are fun too :)

Can anyone in beta explain how ramped up the destructibility was in this game since the previous one?
Brian (PC gamer extraordinaire) @ Jan 8th 2010 6:52PM
you can kill campers inside of buildings, from outside...
with splosives
DubiousCow @ Jan 8th 2010 5:18PM
I can't return the PC version if I don't like it. And PC is the only platform that I play on.
DubiousCow @ Jan 8th 2010 5:26PM
Son of a bitch, reply. This was to my earlier comment, oops.
Menz @ Jan 8th 2010 8:57PM
I still play 1943 on almost a nightly basis. I play mw2 too of course, but I do love me some Battlefield.
