Halo: Reach detailed in next Game Informer

Here's the news, Halo fans: You're going to buy the February issue of Game Informer. The magazine will have a ten page cover story on Halo: Reach, including screens, details and -- as illustrated by the cover above -- some new artwork. In addition to the cover story, the Halo: Reach hub on GameInformer.com will be receiving updates throughout the rest of January, including a look at the Halo franchise, profiles of Bungie and 343 Industries employees and "expanded details on the new game." The next update is set to drop on Tuesday, January 12.

In the meantime, we'll be scrutinizing every detail of the cover for clues about the game. For example, did you notice that the third Spartan from the left has a skull painted on his visor? Because he totally does.

I think he's even got foliage on his back. Not used to spartans being stealthy.

Not many are when your combat strategy is KILL KILL PILLAGE AND KILL AND RAPE (wait for shield to recharge) KILL KILL.

Am I one of the only ones that has gotten less and less interested in Halo as the series has gone on? I was totally stoked for Halo 3 but that ended up being a little bit of a disappointment, and then ODST came out and now I find that I don't really care too much about Reach. Maybe seeing some gameplay could change that.

It won't be the ODST Auto-MAG. There's no sound suppressor on it. Also in the book, the pistols they used had a form-fitting gel on the grip and used a larger caliber round.

The skullface paint reminds me of Ashley Wood robot designs. I dig it.

I can honestly agree with Phizzle. I remember when Halo: Combat Evolved came out and everyone had to have it. Why? Because it was a pretty good game. It was pretty revolutionary if you look past the mediocre AI and the horrible, horrible copy/paste levels after The Silent Cartographer.

Why do people denounce Halo now? Because almost every shooter is now Halo.

We had a reason for regenerating "health" in Halo: Master Chief's shields. Why does everything have to have regenerating health now? Why would a normal GI assaulting Normandy have his health regenerated if he were to just take cover behind some sandbags?

Everyone saw the other things Halo did and instead of being unique and taking a chance, they decided to have a good go at making money by copying a popular game that has now become basic no matter how good it is.

This is Totally going to be Left 4 Halo. And I'm cool with that.

Killzone 2 is what Gears of War would have been if it was set during world war 2. It's only redeeming qualities were its visuals and incredibly breif campaign. Ultimatly, Killzone 2 was a graphical showpiece for the ps3 that arrived about 3 years too late.

I joke of course. As a Halo fan since the original who's read all the added fiction, I'm just excited as fuck to see this finally come to fruition.

No matter what the Halo haters spew, Halo is a juggernaut. ODST, while not quite as successful as previous installments, it was a gigantic success that a $60 expansion sold millions. And one hell of an expansion it was. The ODST stoy was very compelling. The atmosperic and moddy music + environment brought something refreshing to the Halo universe. You felt a lone. Well done, Bungie.

Reach will be the biggest launch of 2010. Call of Duty 7 (Vietnam) won't get as much hype since it's coming from Treyarch.

Yeah, I loved ODST.

I just like the Halo Universe. I think the story is interesting.

I didn't think ODST was an expansion at all. New Mombasa is huge. Finding all those recordings was tough.

If this game is anything like the book it'll be the best game in the series.

Except dont they basically lose in the end? I never read the book, but all accounts ive seen posted, point to failure on Reach. So basically, at least some of the main characters in this game will die and in the end, they lose, right?
I still think it could be a great game, but it sucks when you know you basically lose in the end.

Well it is a prequel to Halo 1, so we technically 'win' at the end of Halo 3. Halo Reach will probably end with you playing as Master Chief.

How does that suck?

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford had the biggest possible ending spoiler right in the title and it was still amazing, and everyone knew what was going to happen in Revenge of the Sith and it still proved leagues better than the rest of the prequel trilogy.

Seeing those guys together and with very differentiated equipment, here's a not so crazy thought: Squad-based shooter RPG. Worked great in Mass Effect :D

Halo Reach will not involve Natal. And according to THIS GUY (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/105/1059470p1.html), Natal is suppose to extend the life of the 360.

So NO, I think its safe to say Natal will NOT be involved in Reach.

I got this from my observation of the "brute" like spartan in the center and the "stealthy" looking spartan wielding a sniper in the background.

Just so people know, Halo: Reach is Bungie's main game they've been working on for over two years, where ODST was not only made in a year, but only a small team was working on the game. That same team has also been working on Reach with the larger team.

Also, if you think Halo is overrated, then say so without pouring your rage into each key you press just because you don't like Halo. If you don't like it, then ignore it. Stop crying and just go play the games you like instead of wasting your time.
