Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer graces this newly revealed cover for Sony's MLB 10 The Show. It's an apt choice, considering one of the big new features of this year's iteration is the ability to play as the catcher, calling pitches whilst scratching your groin.
The PlayStation-exclusive series will appear on PS3, PSP and PS2 on March 2, the same day as 2K Sports' multiplatform MLB 2K10.

My absolute favorite sports game ( : There's an awesome ESPN article on it as well that talks about how the online play, which was horrible last year, is at the focus this year. Online leagues, homerun derby, road to the show improvements...god I love The Show. Here's the espn link on it also: http://sports.espn.go.com/videogames/news/story?id=4750020

to bigstick: actually I'm a 22 year old college student who thought he'd share an awesome article with everyone... and as to me hyping the game as a sony rep, this game does NOT need any hype whatsoever. Glad you got down-voted douche-bag.

Araman... that's interesting. Are you certain? I know they're only wearing the throwback home uniforms on Saturday's and opening day, but I was under the impression that the road pinstripes were officially retired for now.
DCBlack... I was joking about them remembering the new stadium. I guess my original post came across as more jaded than facetious.
I didn't buy The Show '09, but in the '08 version one of the few things they seemed to drop the ball on was the scale of the walls, folded bleachers, and baggy at the Metrodome. I'm excited to see the new stadium in the game and can't wait to see the giant sign with the two twins shaking hands after every Twins homer.

Wow, there really are pure Sony haters on this site. Irrational ones, even. Are you suggesting the The Show has NOT deserved all the praise it has gotten as a franchise? I'm here to tell you (because you must not play it yourself), it deserves ALL of it. All of it.

I'll tell you what it's not. BASEketball. Someone should seriously get to work on making a BASEketball game!

Wait a year or two, and Mauer will be a yankee.
Or is it Morneau? I always confuse the two.

I'm jealous that Sony gets a great baseball game every year and I haven't had one on an Xbox since MVP 05.

I really wish that someone in the video game industry would start putting sports games on a 3 year cycle or something. And then each year in between a major release they sell like a $20 yearly upgrade pack that updates stadiums and player models/rosters. Maybe this is a terrible idea, but I rarely buy sports games since I know that every year it'll be obsolete.

I think baseball games might be better played RPG style (Manager Mode?) where you tell your batter what to try and do and the odds calculate the result, rather than trying to whack it with the X button or whatever, which is almost always frustrating and impossible.

Baseball Mogul is your answer. You can control every aspect of your franchise from finances to managerial duties. You can also take control of any team from any historical season and it'll have the correct league alignment, player names and player ratings. The game will probably only appeal to hardcore baseball fans though.

Can we look forward to another sweet ad?
For those who don't remember, MLB 09 The Show had the first ever Kevin Butler ad, the series of ads that led to the $299 ad and has been well received.

where is the face mapping like the PS2 has? The PS2 also had in game subs what gives. i hate the navigating in 09. and the loads times are UNACCEPTABLE.
The show formula still works and it is the best current sports series this gen.but not for $60 so i can be a catcher(dont care about RTTS anyway) so most likly its gamestop again.
I wanted Teamplay mode and mini games aswell
and once again the cover athlete sucks.

The Show is worth every bit of the $60 you pay for it. I always get my money's worth every year and am still playing '09. '10 will be no different with the additions they've made. The Show is the only sports game i've ever played that has it all right. Every aspect of the game mirrors the actual sport. I can't wait for it to hit stores next Tuesday.
