Qore: Heavy Rain forecast for February 16

The latest issue of PS3's interactive monthly show-thing, Qore, offers a release date of February 16 for Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain. In this Qore menu screen captured by Examiner (pictured above), the release date -- presumably for North America -- is listed as fact, just like that's what it's always been.

However, we shouldn't take this as an official announcement. Since Sony chose to reveal the European collector's edition of the game with a big post on the PlayStation Blog and a press release, we would expect something similarly flashy for the official launch date reveal, and not just a low-key, incidental listing as seen in Qore. At best, this is the sort of unintentional "leak" that makes Qore a can't-miss publication.

As for a UK date, CVG's shadowy sources indicate that the best guess for the PAL version release is still February 26.

Really, REALLY hope this is right. I was expecting a late-March release, so this, along with a 3/2/10 MLB the Show release date will make these two weeks spectacular.

I'd rather have it come later, first quarter of 2010 is already chock-full of goodness.

But I still can't wait for it to come. :)

did you know there is like a teaser in qore what's going to happen to you (your character) if you chose the wrong moves and also there is some tiny demo in the vid that lest you play like in the game............oh i keep waiting for this

Just because it comes out first quarter doesn't mean you have to play it right away, in fact if you wait you can probably pick up a used copy cheap second quarter.

I can't wait to try this game out :)

This is the same date that Gamestop has, but I wont trust anything until I see an official announcement from Quantic Dream.

I think we can trust QORE, as it seems to come directly from Sony Computer Entertainment and they're the publishers of the game.

Thats a good date, because it avoids being crushed by the three biggest games of the year, GoW, FF13 and GT5, all of which sould hit between April and June in Europe.

correct me if I'm wrong but I think GoW3 and FF13 both come out in march.

Why is it that a French developed game, is released in the states first, as was a certain UK developed title (LittleBigPlanet).

I'm sorry but when EU is Sony's biggest territory, shouldn't they at least make this a same-day global release.

I realise this is going to sound like whining, cos it is, but it really makes no sense.

That happens with movies all the time, some US made movies are shown a week early on many countries.

maybe it has to do with the release dates of other games. If this game releases in the same week as any other mildly anticipated game it will not sell well at all. They're probably just trying to be careful.

I don't remember ever hearing that the EU is Sony's biggest territory. Surely they don't sell more than the States.

But the Qore look at Heavy Rain actually got me interested, I wasn't that interested before. Could be cool, it's definitely different.

I just hope this game is better than Indigo Prophecy. It was a good game, but the storyline got REALLY stupid towards the end...

Now I am starting to really worry about the second half of 2010. Sony themselves are front loading the first half of year. I mean what is left. Maybe GT5, The Last Guardian and maybe the new Twisted Metal game, if that is what David Gaffee is working on.

I have the feeling that the second half of the year will be the battle of Natal vs PS3 Motion control games and honestly I don't think no one wins with that.

I don't expect to see Resistance 3 this year, for a couple reasons. Biggest reason is because it will launch against Gears of War 3 (AND Halo Reach), and Sony's done that twice now with Resistance and it hasn't worked well for them.

Second is because R2 tried to do so much and failed because they didn't have enough time, so I expect Sony to give them another year.

Las Guardian for sure, Agent might release (the rock star ps3 exclusive), dc universe online could pop up, modnation racers has already been pushed back once, new motorstorm is possible, final fantasy 14 online could also make an appearance, the warhawk devs are supposedly going to unveil starhawk this year and there is a chance you'll see that new Jaffee game as well as resistance 3. Maybe media molecule will unveil their next project that's rumored to be a new IP. GT:5 has supposedly been pushed to November in north America as well. Rest assured Sony will have a few suprises for the holiday period.

So it looks like the Gamestop date was correct. That's a pretty solid date. It avoids the brunt of Mass Effect 2 by being several weeks after, and it gives people time to play it before Splinter Cell comes out.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that THE US RELEASE DATE HAS BEEN CONFIRMED TODAY HAS THE 23rd FEBRUARY – and although there are still some final tests and checks to be completed, I wanted to let you all know that you can expect to see Heavy Rain on-shelves across PAL regions during the same week – Wednesday 24th February for mainland Europe, and Friday 26th February in the UK and Ireland.

Wouldn't be a new year if I didn't hear that (again)

I'm tired of hearing this. Sony has some fantastic exclusives coming out, but so does Nintendo, and to a lesser extent Microsoft. It's just going to be a good year for gaming all around, don't use that to be a fanboy.
