I wouldn't doubt it. Itagaki was the only reason it wasn't.

Oh and

"It seems does likely that Team Ninja would want to develop a new DOA."

Might wanna fix that.

I'm glad someone else said it. I remember Itagaki saying that he'd rather develop for a Sega system (and then Microsoft system) than he would a Sony system.

I can't blame him. I'd rather play a Sega or Microsoft system than a Sony system.

So DoA will be following in the trail of almost every other fighting game and be released on both 360 and ps3.

That really isn't surprising.

I'm not sure why people would even be excited for a new one. There's been plenty of serious fighters out lately that don't make me feel like a perv.

But I love feeling like a perv. This is awesome news to me, I was actually hoping for this game last month. Im so jealous of the 360 having doa4 and Xtreme 2.... but this is good enough.

The company sure has done a 180 on its view of sony's products. I remember that Itagaki saying he only worked on the most powerful hardware, so thats why xbox 360 and DS only? Even went on to say the first Sigma was "no good". More like he's some kind of prejudice ass clown. Him leaving might have been the best thing for the company, at least now they can make the choice for themselves.

Itagaki is an opposite Weaboo. Don't hate the man he just provides balance to the Western genre hate machine.

True, but so does Kojima. Itagaki is a big 360 fanboy where as Kojima is developing for both systems.

@Maverick: And yet... Team Ninja got MORE perverted when Itagaki left. Odd, that. At least they lost Itagaki's console biases, not like that's ever affected me.

I enjoyed Dead or Alive but like most 3D fighters, they lose their appeal (at least for me) very quickly.

Yeah, that's sort of the way I feel too. It's been a long time since fighters were the go-to genre for my local multiplayer sessions. I don't know if I lost interest because the genre got flooded with games or the move sets just became too damn complicated. Either way, I doubt I'll ever get to relive the days of dorm-room Tekken 2 tournaments.

Hey, at least it saves me from having to buy $300 worth of joysticks...

Fighters have probably evolved the least, graphics have improved, but really, thats about it.

Shooters have gotten better and more realistic, platformers have gotten more bubbly, innovative and interesting (somewhat) and racing games have become more realistic as well. Fighters havent changed :( There is still no blood, there is still no breaking of bones (noses), dynamic surroundings are hard to come by, moves are still unrealistic, there is hardly any fatigue. To be honest, if you wanted a long lastng fighter, the best places to look are probably WWE games, because as realistic as boxing games and UFC games have gotten, they too get boring after a while.

Agreed. I ooh'ed and ahh'ed with the introduction of 3D fighters, but for me the thrill was gone after the passing of 2D MK and SF. So far only SFIV has piqued my interest in the least. DOA4 was fun for all of 5 minutes until I realized you could repeatedly kick the CPU's ass with the same move/combo set.

Cool beans. DOA is a fun series, and as long as they don't sully it all up with new editions, I'll gladly take a new entry... It's been way too long since DOA 4 and Ultimate. Keep the roster small, and keep the focus on arcade play for costume unlocks and the like. Please just keep it simple!

This rumour made my day.

here's to hoping they do less "Jiggle" and more game advancement. The character models in DOA4 don't look much better/different than DOA Ultimate, backgrounds were nicely done though...

Lol, I love how you sound so agitated.

Tecmo is a big boy, I think he can decide for himself where he wants to put his games.

DOA isn't about boobs???? OMG, hell has certainly frozen over O_o

I know few other games other then the Japanese porno games that put as much effort into creating the most realistic boobs possible the way DOA does, lol. Okay, yeah, it may have a semi interesting plot, and its great fun to play, but you're not fooling anyone with that lack of boobies comment, a DOA without bouncing boobs isnt a DOA.

Lol, I guess the same could be said about lots of Japanese games with half or fully naked girls. Just depends on who is playing.

I'm not saying I don't enjoy DOA, because by all means, its a fun game, but I always see it more as Itakagi's fantasy rather then anything else. It would be undoubtedly a porno game if he had a chance to do so without it being banned in the western world and if he wanted it taken seriously. Why else would he have developed DOA volleyball, and island with only females, spending most of thier time pole dancing and sunbathing for pervy guys to oogle at. I can't remember there being a Tekken, Soul Calibur, VF or Street Fighter versions of Volleyball or anything of the sort.

Hyabusa is about the only male in DOA I can take seriously, mainly because hes incredible to play as and he has his own series.

DOA 2 was superb, DOA 3 was superber, DOA 4 in my opinion was same old same old and I felt that the addition of the spartan was a little lame, just my opinion.

Helena and Ayane have always been my favourite females, Hyabusa my favourite male.

If it's going to be multi-platform, more than likely they'll want to start working on the PS3 version, first. And then port it to the 360.

Well seeing as Team Ninja's core staff is that of the Sigma and Sigma 2 teams anymore, that shouldn't be a problem... That's probably exactly what they are doing actually.

Playstation Magazine never mentions the competition, so its likely the game is multiplat, its just they chose not to mention that fact because it wasn't needed.

YESSSS!!!!!!! I'm so stoked for this. I guessed it might be coming, but didn't want to get my hopes up.

My buddy and I have been playing DOA together for years, such that any game between us is half psychological. But he lives in CA and I live in CO, and I refuse to get a 360 and pay for gold just so we can play together (well that and Halo).

i can guarantee 2 sales when this releases!

I never played the DOA series until Dead of Alive 4 on Xbox 360. i am glad DOA5 is coming to PS3 if the rumor is true as we have a DOA game coming out for PSP. I still wonder why not DOA4 for PS3?

Hmm not sure if want. I like titties as much as the next guy (assuming the guy next to me is AL Bundy), but the DOA series just never really grabbed me visually for some reason. As a fighter it seems good enough, but then there's also so many other fighters out there that do a good or better job, gameplay wise, that DOA is going to have to tap into something extra than porceline dolls to sell me on a new iteration.
