Knocking 50% off each title, the sale also includes Sins of a Solar Empire from publisher Stardock -- also known as the guys and gals behind the Impulse service. Have a few extra dollars left over from the holiday season? Here's what you can get with that extra coin:

I wish they would get more competitive with steam. Steam already has good prices and their sales are awesome see I am a rabid opponent of only Digital distribution but Steam had me buying a game at their crazy prices ( although it was a older one) but for new games that just came out amazon is still the way to go

I really like Impulse and its fewer restrictions than Steam, but they really do need to step it up a notch to compete with Steam. Their holiday deals were a joke compared to the ones on Steam. I mean, King's Bounty: Armored Princess was $10 on Steam at one point during the sale, and Stardock has it priced for "only" $30ish? I really do prefer Impulse's method of handling digital distribution, but with that sort of price difference I'll happily continue giving Valve my money.

I love Steam like my 3rd child. I picked up:
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Academy
Trine
Braid
GTA IV
Defence Grid: The Awakening
Osmos
Torchlight
Quantz
All on their christmas sales and i spent such measly amounts of money. The BEST thing about steam is i live in Australia. We generally pay double the US price after taxes and currency conversion, so a retail PC game in AUS is AUS$99.95 when the US price is US$49.95. Since steam simply converts straight from the US dollar, full-priced games on steam end up costing me about AUS$55 which is obviously somewhere near half-price. Nevermind the amazing sales making it even better value, and the censorship circumventing if i log on to the US steam store with my account (worked with L4D2). God bless Steam.
As for Braid, havent played it yet since i got it, Torchlight has absorbed me.

Pass. Steam still does it better. I got Braid from their holiday sale for like 2 dollars.

Hmm, i keep hearing about this sins of a solar empire, maybe i should try it out. Got 11 games from the steam sale for just under 30 euro, bought the star wars back and torchlight, will need a new hard drive to hold all my games now

I agree that these other companies need to get more competitive. I like impulse and was eagerly checking their site over the holidays and it was like they weren't even trying to compete, especially after Christmas. While Steam had awesome deals every day, it was like everyone went home for the holiday at Impulse (and in fact Tech Support took a very extended holiday...much to many a person's chagrin). Like I said, I like Impulse and have a few games from their service, but how can they blame anyone but themselves for lagging behind when this is how they compete? I know that personally, the more games I own on Steam the less likely I am to buy on another service. Valve seems to know this and takes advantage of that fact by building my library and loyalty to them with extremely competitive pricing.

Yeah Braid was $2 on the holiday sale. I know valve. I don't know impulse from a hole in the wall. Long live steam.

Most of the games are 50% off -- six out of the nine included in the sale.

Yeah, I wasn't so much commenting on this particular sale as I was about the general competition to Steam. There are some good deals to be had here certainly...I guess I'm just a little spoiled after all the games I got for 75 and even 85 percent of during Steam's Holiday sale!
