What to do when you're coming off a year of huge losses but still planning to reinvigorate the company? Get yourself a new CEO! That's what Age of Conan's Funcom did, announcing that Miguel Caron would be stepping into the position at Funcom Games Canada. Caron has been working in Quebec with Lyrtech, an audio and video processing company, as well as with IT firms like BCM International and NoWire Telecom.
Given his background in reducing IT costs and raising market share in the realm of digital communications, we'd guess he's got his job cut out for him at Funcom. The company says it's aiming to expand operations in Montreal, far away from its humble roots in Norway, so we'll see if Caron can summon some Cimmerian strength and get things moving in the right direction over there.

I loved Age of Conan but after you hit 80, it got real boring, real quick.. For me anyway. It could've been an amazing MMO if it didn't have so many problems (in house as well). Not sure if things turned around for them I would play again. See what happens, I guess.

MMORPG.com awarded Age of Conan as the "most improved MMO of the year" and it really shows. They're doing a damned good job at turning things around.

Huh, really? I tried that "unlimited trial to level 20" thing out, and it felt like I was waiting forever for something fun to happen. I guess it's all about PvP and city-taking, because questing and instancing is about as entertaining as pulling off your own fingernails with a rusty pair of pliers. I had high hopes for the dynamic combat thing, but it didn't really wow me.
Don't get me wrong either, I'm a big Conan fan from back in the day, everything from the golden age comics to the current re-imagining of the series and the Robert E. Howard novels that started it all, but... I dunno. They just didn't capture whatever it was that makes Conan an interesting, compelling universe, in my eyes.

freaparn,
It is definitely all about the pvp. Really the only MMO that I actually enjoyed playing instead of it just being a chore. If you do not mind getting killed every now and then by other players, it is a very good time. There is just something about hiding in a bush and then running out and smashing someones face in with a giant hammer that gets me all giddy inside.
