Swapping discs is so 90's.

And let's face it, it was easier with a disc door. All that swapping just adds wear on the disc tray.

Incontinence? I think you meant inconvenience. Unless you poop every time you change discs. If so, seek medical help.

Hey, if there's a better media format avaliable that means no swaps, why tolerate it? It's different from the PS1 era, where DVD's were expensive.

If it was a PC game, who wants it on 4 CD's over 1 DVD, regardless of swapping?

Snake, you don't have to swap discs with the larger storage space on Blu-Ray™!

Yeah, you know, all those load times on Uncharted...oh, wait. There aren't any. And most games don't have installs. How do you like your jet engine 360 drive?

That media type is expensive and drives up the cost of the system. MS decided that making a profit on both Hardware and Software was better than just Software alone. Sony went with more tech and big losses on their Hardware in hopes that software would make up for it.

Can you imagine how much a Blu-Ray drive would have added to the cost of a console in 2005? it was expensive enough a full year later when the PS3 was released.

its worth getting up every now and then imo. although i also have a PS3 so i get to watch blu-ray when i want to.

Microsoft was already losing over 100 on the 360. I know it wasn't really feasible to put a HDDVD/Blu-Ray drive in, but let's not act like it's not a problem.

God the first one was terrible. Laughably bad story and characters, dropped items that got stuck in enemy corpses or beyond level boundries, combat that equates to "kill stuff until you get an attack that actually does stuff", linear levels...even watching it was painful.

I like the first one, gave me a good hack and slash to play with. Every now and then its good to have a game that I dont have think too much about to play to get rid of some stress.

Yeah and within a year they were making a profit off of hardware. the PS3 as of last Oct. was still losing money on every single console sold. 3 years after release. MS obviously did not want to go that route, which is why it also has a HDD free unit, no WiFi, and no media card reader. and it seemed to work for them. why add a drive thats going to add another ~$200 to the cost of production if you are looking to make profitable hardware ASAP? that just wouldnt make sense.

and from a gaming perspective it basically has no effect other than getting up and swapping discs after 20 hours of game play. its not like you have games where you have to swap back and forth over and over on any games that have been released. and the issue is even less of a problem now that you can install games.

Except games cost more to make when they're on multiple discs. And it's hurting multi-platform development. Square-Enix wanted to keep FFXIII on 3DVD's, which most likely limited the content. Who knows what they could have done with a PS3 exclusive release?

How is that stupid? It makes perfect mathematical sense!

N³ = (N · N · N) = Ninety Nine Nights

it is proven in the theory of stylish name design.

Why is it, anytime you make a point about how the 360's design is showing its age, people overreact and disregard it?

Uncharted 2 does have loading times, except they are hidden as small animation sequences such as Drake lifting up a piece of wood so Chloe can pass. It's cool though because you don't really notice.

Except in the Co-op, since you see the animations again and again.

"All that swapping just adds wear on the disc tray."

I'm sorry, but you make it sound like you have to swap discs every thirty minutes or so, instead of several hours.

"If it was a PC game, who wants it on 4 CD's over 1 DVD, regardless of swapping?"

PC game? Sure, I'll take a DVD over CDs, but only because I'd have to install the game before playing it, so I'd rather be able to get up and do stuff instead of babysit the computer. This example doesn't work for the 360 though. And regardless of swapping? Then what's your argument? Maybe a bigger case? But they make pretty slim dvd cases that hold multiple DVDs. The whole argument has to be because of disc swapping, not regardless of it. So, beyond the initial install, on the PC, your not swapping discs anyway. And on the 360... well, 4 discs per playthrough on Lost Odyssey. Not so terrible considering how much time it took me to get through each disc.

"Why is it, anytime you make a point about how the 360's design is showing its age, people overreact and disregard it?"

By the comments I just quoted, it seems like you're overreacting. I have no problem swapping discs once every few hours. I mean, hell, I switch out games more often than I switch out discs for games like Lost Odyssey.
