We know we've built a permanent establishment in our cheek in which to house our tongues, but we're being completely sincere when we say that the above trailer for Lego Universe is one of the coolest trailers we've seen in a long time. Who knew that a kid-friendly MMO in which colorful, stackable bricks are collected could cause our adrenaline to rise in a way we only thought really intense episodes of 24 were capable of? We certainly did not know that.
Check out the trailer above, then check out a fresh batch of screenshots below. They're considerably less awesome than the trailer, but they can't really be blamed for their stationary nature.

But will you be willing to invest hours upon hours in it? I'd rather spread my time across multiple games.

It's... It's all right (pats shoulder), I had the same thought.
This trailer seems like it's designed to evoke certain pop culture moments, like LOTR and Indiana Jones (which is kind of mysitfying why they have an analogue for that, don't they own Lego Indy rights?). All they need to make me happy is pirates or a train builder and the child in me will DEFINATELY command the adult in me to buy this.

I've mentioned lego LOTR before. it needs to happen! What series is more perfect than that? Three great, long movies/books worth with tons of great sets and characters. THe main games could basically be the movie versions, and the unlocks are missing things from the books. It's perfect. It's the only thing since star wars with the depth to be really entertaining.

Really wish they would have not gone the MMO route...that tidbit was the buzz killer to my euphoria...the snake to my mongoose....or the mongoose to my snake....I don't really know how those things go...

THIS is the MMO that will finally kill WoW. I'm calling it right now.

This wont be a WoW killer. The new Star Wars MMORPG will threaten WoW, but the only WoW killer will be the next gen MMO that Blizzard itself is working on.

It's going to be good *if* you can actually build your own vehicles and stuff. If it's just an MMO with Lego characters I think a lot of people will be disappointed.

My jaw dropped... I can;t believe how awesome that game looks. When first announced, I figured it would just be a Lego version of Second Life, but NetDevil has shown real promise in what they can do.
Here's hoping the final deliverable is half as awesome as the trailer as this game just got a violent shove onto my "watch list".

Having been in the beta for a few months, I must say: it is extremely good. I'm shocked at how well certain things are implemented. I'm not saying more *damned NDA* but you guys are gonna love it.

01:16 was the most awesome thing I've ever seen. If I could build bridges under me while jumping, I'd shit my pants.
Anyways, this game is looking very interesting. Hope it has a "Play, Create, Share" aspect.

Then you'll also need to go with diapers. It would be cool to create bridges while jumping, but everyone will laugh if your pants are wet.

OMG! In my school that was the only game we were allowed to play with the CD! You had to stop the Brickster as some pizza guy right? Man that was fun!
