Why does Nintendo always have to pull a Disney on you?

"This one isnt selling as well, lets stop shipping it for 6-12 months and jack the price back up".

And the CEO continues to wipe his ass with Benjamins (or whatever currency you prefer).

There's still a bunch at my local Target, however, that's the only place in town that has any left. I bought one just yesterday and the first headline I read on Kotaku was about this, so I feel pretty lucky to be able to find a place that was still selling them after the Christmas and post-Christmas rush.

You know, I never thought about that. There's about 8 more at the store! That really could bring in some lovely cash down the road...

I may be making a quick trip to Target pretty soon.

If you two are serious you both suck. Flippers are the bane of this industry and I hope you lose money on any attempt to make a quick buck at the expense of honest kids looking for a great game.

I noticed this myself! It's been this way since before Christmas. When I saw that Best Buy was selling it for $19.95, I checked amazon to see if they were matching that price. It was unavailable through amazon at the time, but I figured it was just sold out. I've been checking ever since then, and it's never shown back up.

@BigD145

Around Christmas time, Best Buy had the game for $19.95 (also Animal Crossing). I had to go to 3 Best Buys to find it since the web site said it was in stock but couldnt find it in the store.

I also wondered how long they would have this limited edition for. It cant be limited edition if you never stop selling it. I just assumed they would stop shipping the collectors edition anymore, not stop shipping the entire game in general.

I think so. It would be foolish of them to lose out on what should be a high-profit game for them to publish, they're just going to chintz up the packaging a bit. No more expensive metal

I wasn't a huge fan of Prime when I played the first couple hours of it on GC a few years back. But with the Wii controls, I wanted to pick this up when it got cheaper to give it a second chance. Big fan of implementing Wii controls in games like this.

I think I never gave prime a fair chance back on the gamecube. I thought it was an odd mix. I wanted a proper sequel to Super Metroid, but while the elements were there it felt like a completely different game. I also have always loved shooters, and coming from games like Half Life and Halo the shooting just seemed awkward. I still enjoyed it but it was hard to get past what I wanted it to be, or thought it would be, and just see it as a different kind of game.

Dude that is EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me. It just didn't feel like a 3D Super Metroid, and since that's pretty muchy all time favorite game, it let me down. Just like with music, though, giving it another chance quite a bit later with different expectations can totally change my mind. Which is why I want to get Prime Trilogy.

Plus, I've heard good things about the controls in Corruption.

I had corruption but never beat it before selling my old wii. The controls are a lot better, and make it feel more like a proper FPS. But the overall feel of the game is still just like the other two in the series. The presentation of corruption is also a lot better and it's easier to get into than the first two games. I eventually got stuck at some wall I couldn't get past and moved on to other games, but until that point I was having a lot of fun.

Really, Shadow Complex felt more like a Super Metroid sequel than the Prime series ever did. That game was fantastic and brought everything great from Super Metroid into the present, except for the characters themselves. Other M looks like it's doing the same sort of thing, and I can't wait.

I just got a 360 just for Shadow Complex. I also agree that Other M looks a bit closer to a 3D transition from the classic games than Prime. I recently played through Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and friggin LOVED it. I don't think we'll ever see a Metroid that captures the feel of the old ones, but after playing Sigma, I can say that I'm excited for Team Ninja's approach on it regardless of how classic it feels.

Wow this reminds me that I need to force myself to play through the trilogy. The little that I've played of 1 so far is extremely boring and hard to get in to. Maybe by the time I finish it it will be worth something on Ebay :D

And for some really weird reason I'm sure if it were on the 360 in 640p (and upscaled to 720p) you'd find it much more enjoyable and easier to play.

I honestly don't understand how you can find Metroid Prime to be "boring." It may be slower-paced than dual-wielding P-90s on MW2, but that's like saying that (500) Days of Summer doesn't have as much action as Transformers 2. I'd say that you're missing the point. However, judging by your adoration of the God of War series I can only assume that your tastes are different from my own and considerably more...what's the word I'm looking for? Unrefined? Pedestrian? Dumb? Let's go with dumb.

You can't call my tastes dumb if you like this game. There's nothing more fun than running through tons of tight, empty corridors that all look the same and fighting 1 generic enemy after another.

It's wierd that you bash Killzone 2 for being generic and boring, when that was far more exciting than this game has been. Maybe it will change, but I don't expect it to.

Oh, God, nothing could have been more generic and boring than Killzone 2 except for the Conduit, of course. And it's pretty ironic to call Metroid's enemies generic when they invented those enemies in the first place. If you wanna talk about a game with a bunch of "seen-it-before" enemies and where every single environment looks absolutely identical let's talk about Fallout 3.

Calm down ladies, let's not start randomly bashing games because tmac doesn't like Metroid Prime (did you honestly expect any different?).

Don't get me wrong either, the original Metroid Prime is one of the best games ever made and to say otherwise is pure blasphemy, but that doesn't mean we should sink to the level of making fun of Fallout 3 (which is the bee's knees).

The games are different in every way except for their perspectives.

I can totally see someone not liking the Metroid Prime series. The pace is unusual, it requires seeing a lot of the environments multiple times, and the shooting is implemented in a different (and some would say odd) way.

It's true, I think that the Metroid Prime series is one of the best series of games I've ever played - it really goes right up my alley, and I enjoyed all three from beginning to end. But that's not to say it's for everybody - heck, I don't know if I'd recommend it to a lot of my friends!

Tmac is totally entitled to his opinion, as everyone is.

If you got to Metroid Prime later, then you would think those enemies were generic. This game was largely before the glut of alien shooters, and either way most of those creatures are based on significantly older ideas.

Nintendo Exec: Hahahaha! Look at all the 'hard-core' audience all scrambling for our $50 'limited-edition' re-release of three old games from the past decade. What could make this any better?

Reggie: Let's recall it!

Nintendo Exec: Good one Reg! Wow, I really see how you became so successful!

Reggie: Well, the way I see it, any man could make satisfying games, sell them for a reasonable price, and make an honest living, but why would you do that when you could just remake everything that has already been released (mario kart, animal crossing, metroid, dk jungle beat, pokemon, NEW super mario bros, new play control series, etc.), sell them for the same price they were when they were originally made, and then take it away just in time to sell the remaining stock for 3 times the price on ebay!

Nintendo Exec: Wait, Reg, are you saying you're going to resell the copies of metroid that haven't sold yet on ebay?

Reggie: YES! Why you might ask...?

Nintendo Exec: Sure... why?

Reggie: Because, in actuality I am... (dramatically rips away mask) TMAC!?!?!

Joystiq Readers: Bitch.
