Just as a premeptive post:

The endings in TvC actually consist of two parts - a set of still images, and an anime cutscene animated by Tatsunoko. Udon's only working on the still image portion of the endings - the animated portions are staying.

I was just going to ask if the endings were animated or still images. Thanks for answering my question before I even asked it.

i hope they don't replace the existing images altogether. i'm not really a fan of Udon's art style...
on the other hand- i should just be happy they didn't design all the characters :)

Scrap some money together and get this, or Capcom will have to kill a puppy, and by puppy I mean the Wii, and by kill I mean not make games for anymore.

I completely agree! Their work in SSF2THDR was inauthentic and amateurish. I know a fighting game in the VS series with 3D graphics developed by Eighting on the Wii already has some major strikes against its hardcore credibility, but Udon's involvement is definitely a disincentive for me to buy the game. Hopefully their work is limited to endings and not anything you'd see regularly while playing the game.

Cool. I'm not alone in having this opinion. The work in SPF2THDR and MVC2 was also mediocre. It's a shame that Capcom USA pays these "fans" to screw up the the seemless flow of art, music, and gameplay.

Oh and on a semi-related note, those SFIV English voice actors were horrible. (Well, on anyone that wasn't Cammy, Zangief, or Guile)

I personally don't see anything wrong with Udon's work... but I don't praise them to high-heaven, either.

I actually like them quite a bit.. while I wouldn't say they should replace the capcom artists in the games, as far as their comic books go they look pretty damn good (especially when you consider what hackneyed artists on rotation they could have signed up)

This game looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, I think the character designs will turn away a lot of people.

Actually, that Street Fighter picture doesn't look very good to me. The faces aren't as bad as in SSF2THDR, but they're pretty glassy looking, especially Sakura, Cammy, Mika, and Ryu. I don't know if it's an issue with the line thickness, coloring, or some sort of filter, but the depth and emphasis are all over the place. The proportions and angles are also pretty bad. (I know there are weird proportions in official Japanese Street Fighter artwork, but this bothers me more.) It just isn't quite consistent with the aesthetics of the series.
