Same here. The waggle in the first game did nothing for me, and I believe they can do a lot more with the much extra power.

Without waggle the game would be played with like two buttons.

Sure it wasn't very deep, but it would have been a kiddie pool without waggle. I would like a 360/PS3 game with more fleshed out combat in Madworld's great visual style, though. ☃

Something about the waggle made it soooo satisfying to impale a guy on a broken pipe... :D

@Larry: The problem is evident, as is the solution: build in more combos and make the combat more interesting. There is potential on a current-gen console, more so than on the Wii.

The waggle only hindered my expierence. Seriously how many times did u try to throw the guy somewhere specific and it goes somewhere else? Or how many times did you try to grab someone to punch them up or push them into a a passing subway car or something but your arm makes any sort of motion and the baddie gets unwantedly thrown.

The game would be just fine without shitty motion controls. In fact it'll prob be better because then they could concentrate on some sort of move/combo system. Then maybe the game wouldn't become dreadfully boring barely halfway thru.

It's posts like this that make me realize how that so many people have such a misunderstanding of the gulf between the Wii and PS360's power.
There is literally nothing about the Wii that couldn't handle a better combat engine and combo system. Hell, the DS could have a more robust combat engine that puts Devil May Cry 4 to shame...and it wouldn't be terrible difficult to implement, either!
Engines are generally so small and simple when it comes to this stuff. They only start getting more complex when you start adding in things like graphical tricks and whatnot. Even the much touted physics is very simple stuff.

Point is, there is no more potential for a MadWorld sequel on PS360 than there is on the Wii.

I didn't find it nearly as disorienting as I thought it would be. In motion I thought it was actually very clear what was going on, screenshots were completely baffling most of the time.

Unless you are REALLY into copious amounts blood-letting and you can tolerate some pretty repetative gameplay, I would save your self $5 and rent the game. It's about 10-12 hours long and, for me, wears thin after about 2-3. I appreciate Sega's effort to make mature games but it also helps if they are at least halfway decent. Ah hell, buy it just because SEGA tried. :D

Oh, ignorance... That's a brilliant retort. Did your brain blow a fuse trying to come up with such a witty response?

Well, when I see a week go by without a new Hannah Montana game, or a flood of other throwaway titles aimed at the 6-13 year old female demographic, maybe then you'll change my mind.

Until then, I think I'm quite aware of the Wii being a kiddie/girlie console.

Oh, and I own a Wii, as well as a PS3 and 360. The Wii sits on my shelf collecting dust. The only time it gets played are when my 6 and 9 year old nephews come over. Why? My sister wont let them play any of my MATURE RATED titles on my 360 or PS3 - which happens to be 99.9% of my collection, since I happen to be 35. Of course, that's not a problem on the Wii now, is it?

If they make another one they HAVE to add more things to the game. After the first level you will have already seen everything you will see with the environment not being anything special. Once you've seen one spike you've seen them all.
If they did bring it the the PS3/Xbox 360 they will have a lot more to work with.

What are you talking about? I meant the game itself had problems with not having any depth then followed by saying that if it was on the Xbox 360 or PS3 that they could do a lot more with the game not that it would some how keep the game from being repetitive.

isn't it obvious? They could have Bigger better looking environments to fight in which for this game is pretty much it. You can again have Bigger better bosses and you'd be able to later on add DLC for extra weapons or missions. You'd also be able to have more enemies to fight at one time.

Also since the controller for the PS3/360 more buttons at easy access you could be able to add more attacks and actions to use in the environment and on enemies.

It being on the Wii has nothing to do with that issue, the Wii is more powerful than the Gamecube. The Gamecube had Twilight Princess on it and that was with half the disc space. The Gamecube was also MORE powerful than the X-box or PS2, which had many games with much more stuff than the typical non-nintendo wii game.

Definitely a game that would benefit from a sequel, something with more time and care invested into its development issues. Less stability issues, a longer game, and more replay value to the game either way.

If Sega thinks they made enough money to do so, it would be a good idea.

The game is a beat em up, it doesn't need to go longer really. Maybe ditch the boss fight only stages for a complete stage. Most games of it's nature just let you reply the levels and have nothing else in terms of reply value.

If they decide too, they should focus on a good multiplayer. Not just the bloodbath challenges. And then add more interactive objects into levels, not clones of the same thing.

I see a lot of folks say a brawler doesn't need to be longer, based off of much older games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage, but I fail to see why you'd still think that.
Just because it's a beat 'em up doesn't mean it can't be longer.
God Hand, No More Heroes and Viewtiful Joe each took roundabouts 15-20 hours to beat. If you include hack 'n' slash as an offspring of the beat 'em up, those typically take 15-20 hours to beat, too.
Hell, even Castle Crashers was a longer game.

MadWorld's 5 hours of playtime is really the most inexcusable thing about the game, in my opinion.

Madworld was a great game, I don't care what anyone says and Sega, you can go f- yourself. This game has a lot going for it. The visuals were stunning and I had a blast progressing through the levels. When the game came out, I was in my first year of law school and going around eviscerating bad guys was a great stress release. As for the story, I thought it was actually very deep. At one point, the designers had a very thought-provoking narrative on our lust for violence as entertainment and how it drives our willingness to enter and tolerate wars today. I also thought the commentators were hilarious--really, it's like an episode of Southpark. I agree with some of the criticism above. The controls were a little wonky. The lock-on feature didn't work, and there were times when I did a requested motion but it didn't register. That was very frustrating with boss enemies. One other control complaint I have is that I never figured out how to replicate the different fatalities with the chainsaw. My biggest complaint is that it wasn't really a 2 player game. I brought it to a party once, and people were laughing so hard, but we moved on to Mariokart after a while b/c it was just pass and play which is a little antithetical to the Wii experience. These nits definitely kept the game from becoming a GoY contender, but the IP has a lot of potential and I would definitely buy a sequel. Here's a parting food for thought: how many of the complaints have to do with the limitations of the Wii?

MadWorld was a fun game but they REALLY could have been more ambitious with it. For somewhat obvious reasons, it felt like God Hand-lite. Unfortunately, some of the things that made it so like God Hand didn't translate well without having that meat behind it any more.

The motion controls worked great, though. On the rare occasion that the game DID put up a significant challenge, it was damn satisfying using motion finishers on enemies.
The combat engine was terrible dull, though. Even *I* started feeling bored of it toward the end. It's the same Left-Right-Left-Kick! over and over...and over...and over and over again. I really don't understand why a game touted as God Hand's spiritual successor failed to bring over it's most innovative feature and left out the customizable combo system. It really makes me think that they were pretty much set on making a dumbed down, cheap game designed to get attention :\ The fighting is the very heart of a beat 'em up. So much more thought could have – no, SHOULD have – gone into MadWorld's combat system, but it really did feel like they half-assed it as much as possible in that regard. Especially when you compare it to the intricacies of even just Bayonetta's combat system, (furthermore God Hand or Viewtiful Joe).

I didn't like the smaller contained level structure thing, too. Most of the levels were like playing in a small sandbox, but there's no reason they couldn't have the levels be a lot more linearly structured and have goals in them while also keeping you contained and pursuing the points system thing.
Just based off the level design alone, I can't fault anyone if they said they felt it was repetitive.

Still, MadWorld was pretty much the perfect length for what it was. I started feeling slightly fatigued by the time I got to the end of the game, but not enough to make me alter my opinion of the game.

A sequel that is at least 3 times the length, better level design and a much improved combat system would do the game wonders.

I don't get all the Wii haters posting. This was a great game and a more fleshed out sequal would be awsome. Give me some online content. How about recording your game play, adding your own commentary, and then posting it. My only fear with Ubisoft is the lack of wi-fi support from other Wii titles. I hate to say it, but Activision sounds good to me. They could continue to innovate Wii games online like CoD:MWR and Guitar Hero have. I love the Doom style matches on Modern Warfare Reflex. That would be great in Madworld. Get me a headset(finally, please) and let me taunt the hell out of my opponent.
