We know, we know -- you've been sitting around all day worried sick about GameStop. Ever since the recent announcement of a cut profit forecast and the resultant drop in share prices, we've been in exactly the same boat. Good thing then that the company has announced plans to repurchase $300 million in stock from investors as part of its 2010 "Capital Allocation Strategy," with intentions to increase earnings per share by 10 percent.
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter sees the announcement as "positive," echoing the company's statement of continued financial growth in 2010. "We believe that industry sales will rebound in 2010 and that GameStop is well-positioned to gain share the first half of the year. The company has high exposure to the hardcore software releases, which we expect to drive market growth in 2010, and comparatively low exposure to hardware, which we expect to decline," he says. It certainly doesn't hurt that GameStop plans to open 400 new stores over the course of the year -- the financials even leave $100 million on the side, reserved for "acquisition activity." It would appear that, at least for now, we can all can stop worrying. Finally.

Nobody's forcing you to trade in games, and it's easy to tell if a game's been opened. If it has, refuse to buy it unless it's new.
It's really not that hard.

No you weren't, but nice backpedal. You about to moonwalk through dat wall.
Were you also being sarcastic about only playing multiplayer games? Because that's still one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

You're automatically because you used 'dat' in your post. For that alone I have down voted you. Also it's Larry fucking David.

That wasn't sarcasm, that was you stating a retarded opinion then trying to cover it. Sarcasm has to have some modicum of humor involved.

Where I live, there are 2 LITERALLY on opposite sides of the street. Sadly, I went to both to check out MW2, and it was cheaper in one of the stores than the other- they're competing with each other.
Gamestop just needs to start pricing better for used games- and give more back. Maybe I'll give to them instead of Amazon who gave me 30$ extra than what Gamestop would have.

2 Gamestops across the street from each other is pretty close to being The End Of The Universe. Is it in Houston, Texas?

Gamestop is the new Starbucks, Although you can't really trade your coffee in unless you splash the hot contents into some smarmy barista's face.

Whew, I was really worried after they cut that profit forecast...
Five bucks says they're bankrupt in 5 years anyway. Next gen is going to be digital distribution, and the walmarts and targets can pick up the stragglers.

The only thing I see going to have a high percentage of digital distribution is the PC, and that's only because Steam's the shit.

nutman where did you get that info about CD's being 65% physical?
I find it unlikely due to there being more pirates than people who go out and buy CD's. I personally use the Zune store.

Music is different, because most people who know how to buy digital songs also know how to pirate them, so they lose a huge chunk of sales that would have probably been digital otherwise. All of the current consoles already sell a ton of games online. Has HDs get bigger and broadband gets faster people will buy more games online.

It's be nice if they put a GameStop in my town so I don't have to drive to town over where they have a GameStop right across the street or in another town where one is in the mall and all you have to do is cross the street out the main entrance of the mall to get to another GameStop or the one next to a best buy and all you have to do is cross the street again and there will be another GameStop.
You wanna buy some clothes you say? Well you better hurry it's about to become a GameStop. Damn GameStop and their horrible placement.

am I the one that never reads these profit forecasts and stock related posts? I feel like they are becoming more frequent, and they are actually starting to annoy me for some reason. Not like I can't just skip em or whatever. But if I'm the only one, I mean, that's cool too.

the analyst posts are equally as useless, but out of the business-oriented posts, tey are the most entertaining to me, because they are usually dead ass wrong, or so obvious that it blows my mind. "2010: Games will continue to sell at some sort of rate."
I usually don't read them past the title though, and could equally go without them.
