I really enjoyed the first Army of Two. Me and my cousin rented it in the summer and played through the whole thing, laughing the entire time. I liked the over-the-top Bro-ness, and the fist bump became a running joke for the two of us. It wasn't trying to be anything other than a solid, action packed adventure. I'm looking forward to playing this.

The demo of this game was buggy and horrible. They totally screwed up the controls and it feels nothing like the first game at all. My friend and I couldn't even finish the demo because it wasn't good. BUYER BEWARE!!!

@Meh Yea, that makes sense. Make your decision completely based on someone else's opinion, not on the actual gameplay you have experienced. I too felt the controls and gameplay in the demo weren't top notch (didn't experience bugs though). Written reviews aren't the only way to make a purchase decision.

I don't see why 754boy was down voted just because he didn't enjoy the gameplay demo. He may be overreacting, but people should definitely try the demo before buying this one.

@ Toop

The review is just an opinion, but it's one by a professional and one that you should take to heart, considering other reviews as well.

That said, reviews aren't definitive, and neither are demos. Demos are builds that are months old, and good games can have bad demos, and vice versa.

I saw the commercial for this and my interest jumped from nonexistance to possible purchase. This review just brings me that little bit closer to purchase.

Hopefully other reviews are as favorable.

The commercial for this game pissed me off further simply because the actual game is not as visceral as it makes it out to be. It doesn't look nearly as good, hell the cutscenes don't even look like that commercial. It's deceptive marketing on EA's part and whoever still goes out and purchases this game based on these reviews, don't complain when you don't get what you were expecting. PLEASE, save your money for Mass Effect 2.

I loved the first game. Played through it about 5 times and was totally excited for a sequel. But the demo crushed all my dreams of that.

No video game commercial does justice for actual gameplay. Face it, those insane graphics will be around in the real gameplay probably in the next 10 years. I say 10, but when I say 10, I mean 5 to 7, because graphics technology will just be that good at that time.

Maybe.

I really didn't enjoy the demo but that's usually cause I feel they ruin the game. It sounds like it will at least be as fun as the first one. Great review. I'll probably pick this one up.

I thought the first game was decidedly average, but being co-op I did finish it with my brother. So I'll likely give this one a rent too since it appears to be better than the first game.

I agree. The first game was fine and I had high hope for them doing much better with the sequel. I like the premise of the game and this review highlights how the terrorist situation makes for an always-changing environment.

Still, the demo felt clunkier than I remember the first game being. Little things like running and switching the camera felt awkward. I like that there isn't so much loading when upgrading weapons, but it still feels slow.

At this point the demo is having much more of an impact on my opinion than the reviews I've seen. I'm going to have to see more positive reviews about the campaign before I take time away from other stellar title to play through this one.

Ever notice how a lot of people play this game with their brother(s)? Not their "Bro's", but their actual brothers. I don't know where I was going with this, except to say that it's a pretty interesting trend. I played through it with my brother, as well.

I enjoyed the demo quite a bit, but the inability to keep the GPS / tactical overlay turned on is a no-sale for me. If we're able to turn it right back on the moment it fades, why not just let us keep it on perpetually?? Patch that, and i'll buy a copy.

Here's my review.

One of the new taunts punches your partner in the head and knocks them on the ground. So now you can punch your partner in the head, teabag them after they fall over, and then give them a bro hug when they get up to say you're sorry.

I don't need to know anything else about the game. 10/10.

Those people that talk shit about it must be playing it alone, its nowhere NEAR as fun alone....

That's the problem with it. No game should be made that forces you into co-op or multiplayer.

That's almost as ridiculous as saying no game should be made that forces you to play it single player.

Some people like playing games alone. Some people like playing games with other people. Some people like both.

There's nothing wrong with different games falling into different categories. If you only like playing games alone (like yourself), then Ao2 is not for you, and there's nothing wrong with that because there are millions of other people that it fits perfectly for.

the reason me and my brother like it is because we are different types of gamers....he is mostly a sports guy and I do damn near every game type BUT sports.....so it allows us to play together, and with the internet, even tho he is in California and I am in NC we can still play together. The game doesn't FORCE you to play with someone else, you can play alone if you choose. But it is simply more fun to play with someone else.

A game like MW2 doesn't FORCE you to play online but how many people buy it for the story? I know people that haven't TOUCHED the story and never will.

The only games that FORCE you to play multiplayer are Games like Warhawk & MAG. and you go into those knowing the deal.

@ tmac - You do realize that you have every right to not buy the game, right? Just because you don't have any friends willing to suffer your presence for more than 5 minutes to play a co-op game with doesn't mean the game doesn't have a purpose, and shouldn't exist for those of us that do.

I like how everyone always goes back to a "no friends" insult when it comes to people criticizing multiplayer and co-op. So predictable.

Maybe people like have to have some substance in their games, and not chest bump and bro-hug every 5 minutes after a totally rad explosion or headshot.

Let's see... Substance in a video game vs. substance in a relationship with another human being... What's wrong with enjoying the camaraderie of playing video games with friends? Just because the game features two prominent douchebags who act like frat boys, doesn't mean the players have to behave that way.

There are different kinds of games Tmac. I enjoy a deep, compelling single player game every bit as much as you do. The difference is that I also have the ability to kick back and have a fun romp through with a bud, laughing all the way. Each are fun in their own kind of way.

It's like movies. Just because you like high brow "artsy" movies doesn't have to mean that you can't also enjoy sitting back and being entertained by a brainless action flick like Transformers or District 9 for two hours.

Liking those movies doesn't automatically make you a dumb 12 year old that can't understand deeper films, just like enjoying Army of Two doesn't make you a maddenite that doesn't appreciate deeper games.

You are the videogame equivalent of a movie snob, unable to have fun.

What I'm really getting at is why do you need more than 1 or 2 of these games? That's the thing with games that have no substance like this, what was wrong with the first army of two or Modern Warfare? Why do people need another mindless game to co-op or play deathmatch in, when it's just shooting more people but with a different background.

That's the thinking of a dudebro that I struggle to understand. It would be different if there was some kind of story or character development or something like that that would justify having another game, but it's just paying another $60 to run around with a fellow dudebro shooting more people in a different background.

Maybe not everyone cares to have substance with games Tmac. Some people play games strictly for the action. The same goes for movies. Huge blockbuster movies with explosions and crazy effects and what not. Some have no substance but people see them for the action and the experience. So why have more than one or two of those?

Your question of having more than one or two of the same thing is a moot point. They DO change the story (as bad as it may be) and they DO change some gameplay mechanics. So yes, while it is still a game with no substance (substance being perceived objectively) it is a new game with something new to do and new to see. And people like that. People want it. It's obvious you don't agree with it so why bother continuing to comment on it when you know no one gives a shit about what you're saying because they obviously disagree?

Different strokes for different folks. You're inability to see that is your own issue. Not the games.

Tmac are you retarded? Co-op is not an extension of deathmatch, co-op is an extension of a single player campaign. It's campaign with a friend.

I'm going to assume from this comment that you haven't purchased any of the WoW expansions. Because clearly they're just more running around doing quests with friends in a different background.

How it should have ended:

Salem and Rios are pinned down, hiding behind a flipped car on the street as enemies are quickly surrounding them. They know this is the end. They look at each other and without saying a word, they flip up their masks and kiss as explosions light up the sky behind them. Their tongues and fists collide for one last time as they let out a battle cry and emerge firing in every direction like a modern day Butch and Sundance...

fade to black.
