Mass Effect 2's Soldier class really likes guns

Hey buddy, you like guns, right? Lots of guns? Good! The newest Mass Effect 2 trailer is meant just for you, then -- packed from top to bottom with bullets and explosives, lead gameplay designer Christina Norman discusses the gun-centric proclivities of the Soldier class. Did you know, for instance, that the Soldier is the only class that can use the assault rifle? We sure didn't!

But look, to be totally honest, we're still a bit smitten with the Engineer class from a few weeks back. It's kind of hard to think about using another shotgun (yes, even a space shotgun) knowing there's a class with its own killer robot. That being said, if you're into that whole gun "thing," Mass Effect 2's Soldier is right up your alley.

I have a level 58 soldier in the first game. I've been playing Vanguard on a 4th play through, I think I'm going to stick to this to for myself to like a "magic" class. I can't wait, this is my most anticipated game of the year.

Wait so the other classes are actually worth playing now? The Soldier was the One True Class in the first game.

I've looked around and still don't know the real deal is with how this game works with your save file from the first Mass Effect.

I know it bases events on your actions... (*SPOILERS*) .................like if you let the council die, or saved them, which one of your party members dies............ (*/SPOILERS) and all that. But what about your Shepard? Can I change what class I played with? Can I change what I looked like? What's the deal with all that stuff?

My game 1 shepard was a soldier, and I was thinking about making him a biotic this time, but i don't think i could go through the game without an assault rifle

Playing as a soldier is a waste of time. You get that type of feeling from so many other types of games. Adepts and Engineers (as well as their half breeds) are far more fun.

yes. so true. i hated playing ME1 as a soldier, never completed that playthru. adept is my 1st and only choice, if i re-role as another class its only to chase cheevos
