After some minor delays and a recent "now you see it/now you don't" routine on Xbox Live, the Dragon Age: Origins DLC, Return to Ostagar, seems to have introduced a new bug to those who picked up the most recent title update. According to a BioWare forums post by community manager Chris Priestly: "This morning a title update on the Xbox 360 for Dragon Age: Origins was made available in preparation for the release of Return to Ostagar ... this title update introduced a previously undetected issue that causes specialization classes to not work correctly."
Additionally, he apologizes to those affected and notes that the DLC has been removed from Xbox Live "until the issue is resolved." We're also ensured that more information will be provided on this as soon as it's available. Oh, and in case it wasn't already apparent -- if you're thinking about downloading the title update, you probably shouldn't.

I hope this isn't the standard we can expect from Mass Effect 2 DLC.

Not there fault, it was a bug that they did not find. They fixed it though that's what matters and with haste.

If there's delay, I'll put up with it. The fact that we're on DLC piece three AND the first expac was announced means they are taking DLC much more seriously now. I don't think we should have to worry about you know, year long delays.
In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if Mass Effect 2 DLC comes out any month Dragon Age DLC doesn't. Granted BioWare has a lot on their plate at the moment (Dragon Age, Mass Effect AND the Old Republic), they can make it work to balance out the release cycle for these item/area packs and make a lot for a moderate price.
...Plus the teams are all divided up for who's working on what anyways, right?
Also, I'll take these 30 minute to 1 hour long packs over the Fallout ones any day of the week though... Not because the Fallout 3 DLC was bad, but there was a shit ton of content packed into each one and often, it felt a 'little' overwhelming.

This isn't as bad as it seems. It just means taking your character beyond level 17 without having spent the points is a bad idea.
It's a game hurting bug that came out of nowhere and clearly, it wasn't what the problem last week was. DA:O seems to be such a 'complex' game in all of the data it has to factor, what with decisions made, quests finished, areas opened, items acquired...
I'm more on the side of, 'I'll tolerate this' than get annoyed by it. Plus, I like my shiny Gold Armor and oh yeah, the new swords are fantastic for slaying Darkspawn. With Maric's sword capable of putting out +24 damage against darkspawn, it makes the endgame a slaughter instead of a war.

I honestly didn't even notice last night. Doesn't bother me at all......unless we can work this into some sort of discount for the big DLC. Then I'll grab my torch and pitchfork. What can I say, I'm an opportunistic bastard.

There are four talents to each spec. With ALMOST all the party members (Dog, Shale and Sten not counted) everyone needs a minimum of 8 points to max their specializations out.
Essentially, you need eight levels. Since the cap is set at 25 until Awakening releases, this means you should stop playing your character(s) at 18 and save all level ups for everyone until its patched.
Mathematically speaking, it really isn't as huge as a problem as some forum goers have complained. It just means that for now, if you're working on finishing the game... It's a good time to start a new character.

Glad I could help, I had an 'oh shit' moment myself, but thankfully one file I'm playing everyone's already gotten their specs and I was planning to start my 7th or 8th character soon anyways. Finally got all my experimenting done that I'm going to begin working on my 'final' builds for Awakening characters.
I will say though, RtO has introduced some incredibly epic weapons. Anyone in need of some really awesome items really needs to get this once its back up.

That explains why my wife's Arcane Warrior couldn't equip Cailin's armor...

Well shit. I already finished the new content and I'm nearly done the game. I'm assuming since I already downloaded the DLC I shouldn't have a problem finishing the game, should I? It's still on my hard drive. Just y'know, slightly broken due to this bug.
Well, this teaches me not to buy DLC on day one for RPGs. There's always some ridiculous bug or glitch or something wrong to screw everything up. That, and Bioware's DLC so far has been from average to completely pants-on-head ridiculous, so maybe I should take a step back next time they release paid content.

Don't expect it soon. Mac is there smallest audience and was not intentionally for it in the first place, until a port.

@Katana Ok, I didn't think so. I'm just really hoping that it comes out *eventually*. Having spent $70 on the game and the dlc only to find out that other dlc and the expansion would be closed off to me would be more than a little upsetting.
@japscout8 I understand that macs are most definitely not the ideal gaming system, but until I do acquire an actual gaming pc, Dragon Age on my mac is just extremely convenient.

All of these patching issues are only exasperated by the policies and processes in place at the various console makers.
The QA, delays, and back and forth seem to mean nothing when game-stopping bug after game-stopping bug manages to get through the console makers' testing phases and into the hands of the public.
Were the console environments more patch friendly these issues could be fixed within minutes/hours via hotfixes instead of dragged out over weeks and months or sometimes never fixed.
People get mad at the developers and publishers and rightfully so but a lot of the blame, at least in regards to when/if console games get patched, should be placed squarely on the doorstep of the console makers.
It's one thing for BioWare or Bethesda or Gearbox or Infinity Ward or whoever to screw up and it's another thing for Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo to makes things worse with archaic closed systems, seemingly irrelevant testing, and laughable quality assurance.

I got the DLC, played it, beat it, and continuing with my guy. I got to the first specialization point, put two points into Reaver.....nothing seems broken, everything seems to work fine with it.
Am I missing what the problem is? Or am I just lucky and the bug isn't impacting me....
