While we've yet to hear anything from Rockstar Games surrounding the repeated allegations of mismanagement and overwork of employees at its San Diego, Vancouver, and New York City studios, the International Game Developers Association has issued a statement denouncing the claimed actions by Rockstar. "In any studio, the IGDA finds the practice of undisclosed and constant overtime to be deceptive, exploitative, and ultimately harmful not only to developers but to their final product and the industry as a whole," it reads.
Moreover, it highlights the importance of "events like these" for raising visibility of "quality of life issues in the industry and among the public." It goes on to point out the December 2009 "IGDA Quality of Life survey" that found "over half of the developers surveyed felt that they needed more time for themselves and their families." Perhaps unsurprisingly, nearly every email we've received from Rockstar employees regarding the recent claims has mentioned this exact problem.

Shame for them. Sucks when you're in a career you love, but you get treated like crap and have to quit.

Wait, are you implying Bradwart has no logic, or no life, or are just picking on him?
Cause either way, I will still laugh at him.

I'm implying his logic is a bit off. Anyway, I just read that whole big thing on the imposter bull that was going on and that's a bit far, I think.
Most of what I say against whoever isn't mean-spirited. I'll pick on everyone really, and people will pick on me. I see it as being all in good fun.
Now I'm going to eat some chocolate pudding and fantasize of the times when Sam Raimi wrote a blog and Megan Fox sold bottled bathwater.

I'm wondering if working conditions would improve if companies weren't the victim of piracy? I would hope that people who pirate would realize the effect they have on employees and families at all levels of the industry.

Piracy caused the housing crisis and the recession. True story.

It's stuff like this, while I would love to be a game designer, make me think if this would be the right career choice for me...
and it sucks in general when people are forced to work under strict deadlines, to the point of being overworked and breaking.
