I don't see why they can't continue the plots of the individual Assassins. Even without Desmond in the Animus, their lives still went on and had things happen in them.

Given how Ezio's personality and methods change of the course of the game, I am looking forward to another game with him just because it would be really cool to have a whole game with the older and wiser Ezio.

Hopefully its something like MGS: Snake Eater, a whole single player game with a multiplayer component.

It's a side story game. Like the other 2 PSP games Altair stars in besides the first AC. This isn't a new thing.

No, but it seems a lot of times when sequels are announced so soon most of the development is put into the sequel rather than DLC. So was just mostly curious if anyone's heard about AC2 DLC or not.

Earth to game developers: Not EVERY game NEEDS multiplayer to be a successful franchise.

Sorry, but it's a simple fact that needed to be said. The Assassin's Creed franchise is a solid single player experience with a fairly decent replay value as is (though as Cj posted above, the ability to go back and play earlier chapters without having to start over would be nice). It really does not lend itself well to multiplayer given the slow, deliberate pacing of the game and the objectives. Even minimal multiplayer such as two-player coop wouldn't fit very well.

I would much rather see Ubisoft scrap this entire spin off idea and stick to developing a solid single player Assassin's Creed 3 experience instead of splitting development time to work on a title just so they can inject multiplayer into a franchise that does not need, nor really is built to support, multiplayer.

Earth to Captiosus: Corporations are established for the sole purpose of making money, and multiplayer is the current cash-cow for extending original purchase retentions and promoting greater overall sales figures. As it stands, AC2 did impressively well for a title released a week after MW2, but all the executives can think about is "Yeah, but what if it had multiplayer?" This isn't so much a developer decision as an executive one.

This is a market trend that the consumers have been saddled with, but it's there for a reason: We voted with our dollars and told them that successful games with multiplayer sell better and have a lower resale rate. So if you want to lay blame, take a look at your game library and see what titles you have there.

Earth to Captiosus: Not EVERY game NEEDS multiplayer to be a successful franchise (in fact, Assassin's Creed sales prove that) but MOST games CAN be made better WITH multiplayer.

Stealth gameplay works in co-op, as Splinter Cell has proved. Open city games work in co-op too, as Crackdown has proved. Combine the two and Ubisoft creates an awesome multiplayer mode absolutely unique to Assassin's Creed (honestly, I'm pretty tired of FFA, CTF, etc...).

Just imagine Player 1 causing a slight disturbance in the town centre, maybe by starting a fight with a merchant. This then calls the guards away from their post outside a building, allowing Player 2 to enter, take up a safe position and await the arrival of the target.

I'm not exactly sure we can REALLY call this milking tho...I mean its only been like 5 AC2 games...Only 2 on Home Consoles.....When "Desmond Racing" comes out along with Assassin's Gaming Fuel then I will say its being milked

Like the franchise. Like AC2 far more than AC1. So next one being a spin off AND being full price? Two words:

NO THANKS!

I dont mind paying full retail if it has a good story.. I'd prolly pay $40 just for straight up assassins vs. templar multiplayer if they do it well.. Makes me think of that one splinter cell multiplayer mode.. That was kinda fun.. I want the fan of blades perk for my rank 44 assassin..

"CEO Yves Guillemot said that the game will be sold at a "full price point"

At least this guys honest about the pricing structure, unlike some guys (/looks over at Bungie).

I'm not quite finished AC2, but so far it's amazing and I will be purchasing this next title... though I will wait for a price drop, because I refuse to pay the $69.99 CDN for any game. (I got lucky, AC2 dropped to $40 on boxing day.)

If the multiplayer is co-op and you use team work to do assassinations and things like that then I would not mind it too much.

Right, Now we'll have Ezio advancing classes which top out at Level 55 - Grand master of the Assassin's, after which we'd have to progress to become the "Old Man of the Hill", upon which he'll have to train young Assassins.

I see it inheriting a lot from GTA 4's Multiplayer. Lets hope it does it well, I'm still waiting for the AC2 on PC !! High-res textures/Ultra high resolutions on the PC FTW !!! :D

P.S. Also, I don't own a console, so it sucks a lil ;)

Take the short, rushed, lesser quality development cycle of Left 4 Dead 2, add the small amount of content, insignificant multiplayer, and rehashed theme of Halo 3: ODST, and you get the next Assassin's Creed.

The best part? It'll move a few million units because you people are [edited]. Thanks for that.

I'm conflicted.. I loved AC2 and def think it was GOTY of 2009.. but this is obvious milkage.. They should def just go on to a diff assassin and time period.
